Chapter 111 Jumping into the Sea
Furious, Freya shook off Elijah’s hand.
He had made plans to go to a hotel with that woman? And he pretended to like her in front of her? Was he trying to be an actor? So good at pretending!?
“Elijah, you’re just a big liar!” Freya, driven by anger, stormed upstairs. Perhaps her legs were not yet fully recovered, or maybe she was running too fast, or perhaps her mind wasn’t focused; she stumbled on the stairs, almost falling, but she quickly grabbed the handrail to steady herself.
Now, Freya was even more annoyed. Not only did she make a fool of herself in front of Elijah, but she also embarrassed herself in front of his acquaintance.
She complained, “The design of these stairs is so unreasonable. What a lousy villa!”
Elijah watched her and said, “I’ll have them removed and rebuilt according to your preferences.”
Freya turned around and glared at him.
This annoying man was trying to provoke her again!
“Do you have time for my business, or should you hurry to the hotel to book your room!” Freya angrily went upstairs.
Elijah watched Freya in anger and felt quite pleased.
Was she angry because she was jealous?
Did she care about him?
Thinking about this, Elijah’s mood improved considerably. His words were no longer as harsh, “Did Xander tell you to say that?”
Elara hesitated for a moment, then quickly said, “Yes.”
In reality, it wasn’t Xander’s idea. He simply arranged for her to deliver the documents, attempting to make Freya see. Going to the hotel was her own idea. She wanted to break up Freya and Elijah.
“I understand. You can go back,” Elijah said, keeping a distance. He asked Linda to escort her out.
Elara wasn’t in a hurry. She politely followed Linda out.
Elijah called Xander, asking him to come to the villa.
Even though Xander’s idea seemed to have helped him, doing it without his permission almost made things worse.
After hanging up, he went upstairs.
Freya buried her head in the blanket, now much clearer-headed.
Had she been too impulsive just now?
What would Elijah think of her?
Why did she do something so embarrassing?
She was better off finding a hole to hide in.
Even if she was indeed angry, she shouldn’t have shown it in front of Elijah.
Elijah entered the room and saw Freya lying on the bed, looking regretful. His eyebrows lifted, a smile playing on his lips.
This woman had such a cute side?
He walked in quietly.
Freya, sensing someone’s presence, suddenly sat up from the bed. Seeing Elijah, she sarcastically said, “Why aren’t you going to the hotel? What are you doing in my room?”
Elijah, undisturbed, just looked at her.
Freya felt uncomfortable being stared at by him. She stubbornly said, “I won’t fall for your tricks again! Stop fooling me!”
“You’re angry?” Elijah interrupted her.
“Why should I be angry? I hope you have many other women…” Freya replied coldly.
“Don’t say one thing and mean another, okay?” Elijah interrupted her.
Freya insisted, refusing to admit her anger. “When did I say one thing and mean another? I speak the truth. I wholeheartedly just want to be with you, and…”
Elijah suddenly leaned in, silencing her with a kiss, blocking the words she wanted to say.
He didn’t want to hear the word “divorce” again.
Freya pounded on his chest and shoulders, scratching haphazardly. “Mmm-Elija, let go-of me!”
“Freya,” Elijah grabbed her hands, his gaze serious. “I haven’t been involved with any other woman.”
“You still want to deceive me…”
“I’m not deceiving you. The woman who delivered the documents just now was arranged by Xander. It was his idea to deliberately make you see me with another woman. He said if you got jealous, it meant you liked me.”
Elijah rubbed her hand back, speaking gently, “Do you know how happy I am when I see you angry with me?”
Freya bit her lip.
So, did she fall into his trap?
This moment felt even more embarrassing than before, and she lowered her head.
Elijah pinched her chin, lifting it to force her to look at him. “Don’t talk to me about divorce again. Can’t we just be like this?”Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
Freya looked at him, knowing her emotions were being manipulated by this man because she had fallen for him. Her eyes gradually filled with moisture. “I…”
As soon as she spoke, her throat choked.
“If you’re still angry about me causing your miscarriage and injuring your leg, you can hit me, scold me, or set any conditions. I can accept them all, but don’t mention divorce.” Elijah looked at her.
Freya sniffed, “I hate you, and I resent you, but…” But she couldn’t control her feelings for him.
She bit her lower lip, “Do you really not mind that I’ve been with other men?”
“I don’t mind,” Elijah replied.
Because he knew in his heart–she was pure.
When she gave herself to him for the first time, she was clean.
“… Then, if I have a child with another man, you won’t mind?” Freya decided to say it.
If he accepted, he accepted; if he didn’t, it would be better to end it sooner. That would avoid entanglement and discomfort.
Elijah didn’t catch the deeper meaning in her words. He thought she was referring to the lost child. Thinking about the lost child, his mood became heavy. “If your child were still here, I would treat him as my own and love him dearly.”
Freya couldn’t believe it, “Could you really?”
Elijah affirmed, “I don’t lie!”
“Then let me tell you-”
Bang!
The door suddenly burst open, and Xander appeared at the door, panting. “Mr Silverton, something’s wrong. Liora Valentine is on a boat, preparing to smuggle out of the country.”
Xander’s sudden appearance interrupted what Freya wanted to say.
Elijah, thinking about Liora’s deception, frowned and asked, “Did you let her escape?”
“No, our people are following her, but she’s about to reach international waters. The chances of catching her are slim.” As he spoke, Xander’s voice lowered.
“Useless!” Elijah angrily said, “Let’s go.”
He stepped forward, remembered Freya, looked back at her, and said, “Stay here, I need to handle something.”
“Why is Liora Valentine running?” Freya curiously asked.
“She did something wrong.” Elijah replied briefly.
Freya nodded, “Go ahead.”
Liora Valentine had caused an infection when she had an amniocentesis when Freya was pregnant. Was this her retribution?
Elijah turned and left, saying as he walked, “Tell the tracking team to stop her at all costs.”
“Yes.”
“Are there any boats available now?” he asked.
Xander answered, “There’s a yacht.”
“Well, let’s go now.” Elijah walked out of the villa.
They drove to the pier. They were a bit late leaving now, but Xander had already instructed the tracking team to intercept. When they arrived, both sides were already in a fight.
There was chaos on the boat, with people falling into the sea. Xander brought the yacht closer, stopping next to the boat, and let someone set up a gangway. Elijah stepped onto the plank and onto the boat.
Rylan Hawke saw Elijah and squinted, “Liora Valentine is my woman. Give me face and let her go.”
Elijah stood on the deck, the sea breeze flipping his clothes. His legs were straight, unmoving. He snorted, “You have no face here.”
“Xander, go find her.” Elijah ordered.
“Yes.”
They brought people with them, and now they joined the fight on the deck. Rylan Hawke’s people quickly fell into a disadvantage, and it looked like they were about to retreat. Rylan panicked, “Must you be my enemy?”
“You chose to be my enemy,” Elijah said disdainfully.
“I didn’t. I’d rather die than go back to prison!” Liora ran behind Rylan, afraid of being caught again.
Imprisonment was bad enough. Being abused as well, she’d rather die!
“Rylan, you have to save me.” Liora firmly held onto Rylan’s arm.
Rylan’s people fell one by one, and he had no one left.
Xander coldly threatened, “Rylan Hawke, either hand her over, or we’ll use force. My brothers here are all rough, and when they act, they’re not gentle. If you get hurt, don’t blame us for not warning you.”
Rylan, seeing no other choice, said to Liora, “I’ll find a way to save you.”
Liora , horrified, asked, “Are you abandoning me?”
“No, but the current situation doesn’t allow for it.” Faced with Elijah’s strong oppression, Rylan had no choice.
A wise man doesn’t fight when the odds are against him. He could plan for the future.
Liora was desperate. If she were caught again this time, Elijah wouldn’t give Rylan another chance to save her. Rather than suffering, she’d rather die. So, she pushed away Rylan and jumped into the sea.
