A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 326 Nothing Forcibly Done Is Going To Be Agreeable

“Shannon? And…” Ranita steadied herself and caught a glimpse of Brendon’s calm face, which suddenly caused her heart to ache.

“Shannon, Brendon, good afternoon,” Chris said calmly as he helped Ranita up and picked up the fallen heart-shaped fruit from the ground. He then asked casually, “What brings you guys here?”

Brendon’s gaze remained fixed on Ranita’s face. After a few seconds of silence, he spoke in a low voice, “I came with Shannon to pick something up. What about you guys? Why are you here?” Although he was asking Chris, his eyes were still on Ranita.

Ranita held the large heart-shaped fruit tightly in her hand while suppressing the waves of emotion that threatened to overwhelm her. She looked at Brendon coldly and replied in an indifferent tone, “Can’t you see? We’re picking peaches.”

Chris added cheerfully, “Shannon, Brendon, do you want some? There are plenty on this tree.”

Brendon’s brow furrowed as his gaze lingered on Chris’ hand holding onto Ranita’s arm; it made him itch with jealousy. “No thanks! I don’t like them,” he said curtly.

Seeing Brendon’s cold expression made Shannon feel depressed.

“Chris,” Shannon stepped forward two steps towards Ranita over the not-so-high fence and smiled at her while radiating maternal happiness all over her face. “I can’t be picky these days; eating some fruits is good for me too! Give me some please! I’ll wash them later for Brendon.”

Ranita felt stabbed by Shannon’s happiness and maternal glow.

“Here,” Chris gave some to Shannon before saying quickly, “It’s hot out here so don’t let us keep you any longer; go back and rest!”

Shannon nodded obediently before turning around with Brendon towards their villa across from where they stood.

“We should head back too!” Chris patted Ranita’s shoulder before reaching up to pluck off one of the large peaches she had been trying to reach earlier that day. “Here!” He handed it over apologetically. “Sorry about bringing you along for nothing.”

Ranita shook her head gently. “It wasn’t your fault.” she replied softly but firmly. “Besides, I’m fine.”

Yes! She was fine!

She could get through this!

Ranita forced out a smile for Chris, “Out of sight, out of mind, right?”

“Oh hey there, Chris!” Kora appeared looking for Ranita. “You went picking fruits huh? How come didn’t bring more back though?”

Kora sent Chris to pick fruit while she took Ranita inside to cool off with the air conditioning. “I think I saw Shannon and the Stuart family member at the window just now,” Kora said.

“Ranita, how are you doing?”

Ranita felt touched. “Kora, thank you for your concern. I’m doing okay!”

“That’s good! Divorce isn’t a big deal; you’re still young and can find someone else!” Kora paused before adding, “I know plenty of eligible bachelors. Shall I introduce them to you? If all else fails, what about that guy outside picking peaches in the sun?”

Through the glass window, Kora pointed at a man who was diligently picking peaches outside.Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Ranita laughed at being teased.

“No way! Mr. Webster is out of my league!” Ranita knew that Kora meant well and thanked her sincerely, “Thank you so much for caring about me like this. You’re really kind.”

“Haha, I know I am! So will you consider what I just said?”

Faced with Kora’s earnest sales pitch, Ranita didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, “Kora, this is something you need to ask Chris about first. Forced love never ends well.”

In truth, Ranita had never thought about starting a new relationship again.

Her love for Brendon was too strong; it would take a lot of time and effort for her to move on from him completely.
