Chapter 300 Harbor No Good Intentions
“Ranita, I actually wanted to talk to you properly. Can you come to the hospital?” Shannon paused before continuing, “Brendon is here too, so we can all clear things up together.”
“In any relationship involving three people, there’s always going to be someone who needs to step back! I know you don’t want things to continue like this either, so let’s just talk it out face-to-face!”
Shannon’s voice was already seductive enough as it was but when she softened it even more, there was a hint of sadness in her tone that made her sound pitiful.
But Ranita wasn’t sympathetic.
She knew better than anyone what kind of person Shannon really was!
Shannon actively invited her over to the hospital – what difference did that make from a fox wishing a chicken Happy New Year? Ranita coldly refused with an indifferent tone, “I have something else going on later. I don’t want to bother you.”
“Ranita…”
Ranita stopped her right there and then, “Don’t call me Ranita, Miss Murphy; it makes me feel nauseous.”
It seemed like Shannon had been dealt a massive blow because she started breathing heavily and spoke in an overly polite manner, “Ranita… I’m sorry… I just thought not calling you by your name directly would be impolite.”
“Is Brendon listening nearby? If he isn’t here then don’t act fake. Have you ever been polite towards me?” Ranita’s retort left Shannon completely speechless.
After some time passed by silently, Shannon finally said softly, “Ranita… I only wanted to show respect towards you. Is that not okay?”
Ranita sneered and didn’t bother arguing with Shannon anymore; instead she hung up the phone straight away.
She didn’t want any more useless conversations with someone who pretended they were innocent while acting pitiful. Just hearing them made her feel uncomfortable.
“Ding Dong!” Another message came through from Shannon again: “I don’t have any other intentions. Dragging this situation out won’t do us any good; we might as well clarify everything at once! Don’t you agree?”
There was no denying that those words struck deep into Ranita’s heart.
She had already decided on divorcing Brendon so why not make everything clear once and for all?
“Address.” Ranita replied back quickly.
Shannon responded promptly.
Ranita asked the driver to take a detour straight towards the hospital.
After asking around for directions several times, Ranita finally found where they were supposed to meet.
Shannon was waiting for her in the empty examination room of the obstetrics and gynecology department at the end of the corridor. It was silent and secluded enough for them to have a private conversation without being disturbed. Ranita knocked on the door and went in.
“Ranita… Miss Bowman, you’re here. Please have a seat. Brendon went to answer the phone!” Shannon was lying down, but when she saw Ranita come in, she immediately sat up and greeted her like an old friend, pushing a chair towards her.
Ranita frowned and stood at the door without moving.
“It’s okay, I’ll stand,” Ranita declined. However, Shannon enthusiastically pushed a round stool towards her at lightning speed and it crashed into Ranita’s leg with a loud bang.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Hiss! Ranita secretly frowned.
“I’m sorry! Did I hurt you? I didn’t mean to do that; it was an accident!” Shannon rushed over apologetically while Ranita waved her hand to keep distance from her touch.
“I’m fine; Miss Murphy, you don’t need to make such a fuss…” Before she could finish speaking, Shannon took two steps back and bumped into the round stool with wheels on it. The stool slid away when hit by something heavy like Shannon’s body weight causing her to lose balance and fall heavily onto the ground!
“Ah! It hurts so much!” A cry of pain rang out as Ranita was about to reach out for help but someone else beat her there. Brendon dashed over faster than she did and hugged Shannon before anyone else could react.
Shannon grabbed Brendon’s arm tightly with pale face saying kindly, “Brendon… Ranita didn’t mean it; she didn’t push me on purpose…”
