You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 76

Elijah drove her back to the villa. Surprisingly, he remained calm and showed no signs of anger. In fact, he continued to be very kind to her, making Freya briefly consider him a good person.

However, as the saying goes, boiling a frog in warm water is the most agonizing.

“Are you going to settle the score later?” Freya nervously asked.

He smiled beautifully, “No.”

Freya cautiously lowered her guard a bit. Could it be that he wasn’t really angry? Had he changed his ways?

“It’s getting late. Go wash up and sleep.”

Elijah returned to his room.

Freya stood still in the same spot for a few minutes. She wondered, had Elijah truly changed his temperament? Had he really turned over a new leaf?

Freya clutched her chest. Perhaps blackening someone behind their back wasn’t a good idea. What if the truth got exposed? She decided to take a shower.

Wearing conservative pajamas, she came out of the bathroom. The room was quiet. She walked to the bedside and lay down.

Elijah didn’t come to her room.

He didn’t come to settle the score.

Maybe, it was she who had misunderstood him before. At the thought of this, Freya closed her eyes and fell asleep peacefully.

Time passed slowly. Moonlight streamed in through the window, casting a silver glow in the room. It was quiet and beautiful.

In the night, the door handle turned, and then the door was pushed open. Elijah had the keys to the entire villa; Freya knew whether the door was locked or not didn’t matter. In a daze, she seemed to hear a sound, which quickly settled down. Feeling tired, Freya couldn’t be bothered to open her eyes and continued to sleep. She was used to sleeping alone, curled up for a sense of security.

The blanket was lifted and the mattress behind her sank.

Freya suddenly widened her eyes. She quickly turned her head and, by the moonlight, saw who had entered.

“Why are you in my room again?”

Elijah, composed, said, “Hmm.”

What did he mean by this?

She didn’t understand.

“Well…”

Freya wanted to say that even though they were husband and wife, sharing a bed might not be a good idea.

“I came here with no other intention, just wanting to prove something.”

Freya had a bad premonition and asked, “Prove what?”

“That I don’t have any ‘hidden illnesses’.”

Under the white moonlight, his eyes were dark and profound, his voice deep like a muffled sound from a deep well.

“I know you don’t.”

“No, I can only prove it with actions to clear my name.” As he spoke, his arm wrapped around Freya’s waist, pulling her forcefully against him.

If Freya had known, she wouldn’t have said anything. She had inadvertently caused a big issue. She was about to say something when Elijah flipped over, covering her. Freya’s breath hitched. The familiar sensation came rushing back.

Was this how a man’s breath always felt, sharp yet with a strong invasion?

Elijah lowered his head, kissing her cheek, then lightly brushing her lips, chin, and collarbone with warm lips, heading to more concealed places.

Freya grabbed the bedsheet beneath her.

She croaked, “I… I…”

She was extremely nervous, even trembling. She was genuinely scared. Elijah hesitated in his movements, eventually turning over and lying beside her, holding her. “Sleep.”

He actually wanted to, but if she didn’t want to, he wouldn’t force her. He was willing to give her time. The future was long. Freya hadn’t expected him to stop, and there was no indication that he wanted to force her.

“Thank you,” she said.

Elijah didn’t sleep and didn’t respond, pretending not to hear. He didn’t need any thanks. She owed him. In the days to come, he would get it back double.

Freya woke up early in the morning. During breakfast, the secretary arrived with information. The investigation into Zane Stone’s beating had progress.

“Tell me.” Elijah walked to the sofa and sat down. He had instructed the secretary to inform him as soon as there was any news.

Freya was anxious. She had asked twice already. She must be in a hurry.

“Freya, come over.”

Elijah called Freya over, asking her to sit beside him.

“It’s Liora Valentine.” Said Elijah’s secretary.

Freya was surprised. Elijah, on the other hand, showed no expression.

“Do you want to warn her?” the secretary asked.

Elijah looked at the secretary, who lowered her head even more, “I misspoke.”

Freya said, “Isn’t she faking a pregnancy? Why would she retaliate against Zane Stone? Is she trying to vent for Xander?”NôvelDrama.Org owns this.

After all, Xander hadn’t left the hospital yet!

Elijah’s gaze flickered. Because of the existence of that embryo, Elijah didn’t want to believe, yet he had to believe that Liora Valentine couldn’t fake a pregnancy. Liora beat up Zane Stone because he was Freya’s brother. She took advantage of his time in prison to have him beaten up.

But in Elijah’s eyes, this incident took on a different meaning. Liora sought revenge on Zane Stone because she had a miscarriage in the car accident, a loss that she could only direct towards Zane Stone. So, Elijah didn’t want to pursue it. In the end, it was all because of the ‘child’ they had lost.

“I know. You can go back.” Elijah spoke to the secretary.

Freya clearly felt that Elijah didn’t want to pursue the matter. It wasn’t his concern. But judging by his attitude, his sympathy leaned towards Liora Valentine. Freya knew this clearly, though she maintained an oblivious expression. “It’s time to eat.”

For some reason, she didn’t feel upset that Izzy Green liked Elijah. However, knowing that Elijah still had feelings for Liora Valentine, she felt a bit stifled. She didn’t like this feeling. She forced herself to be happy, eating heartily.

Elijah frowned, “Are you trying to choke yourself to death? Slow down, don’t choke.”

Freya kept her head down.

“After dinner, I’ll take you to work.” Elijah said.

“No, thanks. I might have to visit the Stone family.”

She knew Elijah didn’t like her father. As expected, he fell silent. However, she wasn’t lying; she did need to visit Leo Stone’s house. She left after Elijah departed, heading straight for her destination.

Upon arrival, only Yolanda Steele was there. There wasn’t much to say to her. Freya was about to leave when Yolanda Steele stopped her.

“Since you came, why leave so soon?” she taunted. “Are you happy to see my son go in? Coming to watch a joke?”

Freya couldn’t be bothered with an argument. “I’m here to see my dad.”

“Oh, you still call him ‘dad’? I thought you disowned him!” Yolanda Steele sarcastically remarked. “Let me tell you, this isn’t your home. Don’t come back here in the future!”

Her words stabbed at Freya’s heart. Home.

A home? Did she have one? And if so, where was it?

Suddenly, she felt a deep sense of sadness within herself. Pushing past Yolanda Steele, Freya headed towards the door and encountered Leo Stone just returning.
