Chapter 279
Chapter 279 Tell Me You Miss Me Too Maia gritted her teeth and asked, “Can't you get up by yourself?” “| fell because of you.” That was true. Maia could not deny that. She pursed her lips and helped him up after a long pause.
The next moment, he held her arm and got up swiftly. He pulled and yanked her into his chest, holding her in his embrace tightly. Maia caught the scent of cigarettes off of him. Her face reddened instantly.
“Let me go, Cedric. What do you think you’re...“*
“| missed you dearly.” He cut her off with a seductive voice. There was no need to give her a long explanation.
Maia blushed. “L—Let me go...”
“Could you
tell me a lie?” His voice was deep and he sounded lonely. Maia did not understand
what he meant.
“Tell me you miss me too.” Even a lie was better than nothing. She could feel his sorrow.
Bereft of his usual arrogance and condescension, Cedric was looking at her with the eyes of a little boy who had been hurt. Her heart soared.
Tried as she may have been, Maia could not deny the influence he had over her. She told herself countless times that she should never change her mind about him, but there was something she had to admit.
She had stayed away from him and rejected him many times. She also tried to cut him out of her life. She did all of this because he had a strong grip on her. She was worried she would fall
in love with him once more.
Maia bit her lips and lowered her gaze. She was about to push him away when she saw his old injuries. She could just barely see the scars on his body through his shirt. It was a memento of the moment when he saved her back then.
She no longer had the heart to push him away. Her hands froze midair as Cedric held her ever closer, as if wanting to fuse together with her and become inseparable.
However, images of the past flashed in her mind. He had neglected, doubted, and hurt her countless times. A mixture of rage, sorrow, and disappointment welled up in her heart.
At that moment, hatred flashed in her eyes. Eleven years. That was how long she had loved him unconditionally and sacrificed herself for him. What good did it do for her in the end?

Maia lowered her gaze as tears flowed down her cheeks quietly. She smiled bitterly and said in the most brutal tone possible, “I don’t think | can muster enough strength to lie, Cedric. It might make you happy, but it can’t change what happened. I'd feel disgusted with myself. So, why should | lie?”
With that, she pushed him away.Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
The plane flew through turbulence again, but Maia leaned on the wall this time. She would stop herself from falling again. Then, she headed toward the sliding door when it was stable enough to walk. She did not look back at him at all.
Just as she was about to slide the door open, he said, “When are you going to finish off Victor?” Maia paused, turned, and looked at him. She could tell he was secretly feeling gloomy. He was not even trying to hide it. Instead, he left his vulnerabilities wide open for her to see. Maia was. his Achilles heel.
She ignored his glance and said calmly, “Why do you ask?”
“Aren't you going to do it in The Horizon Awards?”
Maia was startled. She had not counted on him knowing about it. Was it merely a guess on his part? It would have been one hell of a guess if it was.
She remained quiet and frowned, “Are you not happy about it because you're both the organizer and the sponsor for this show? That sounds about right. After all, my actions will drag The Horizon Awards down to a certain extent. It’s perfectly normal if you’re displeased by it.”
Cedric grinned. “That's where you're wrong.” Maia looked at him, confused. “I'm looking forward to it.”
She straightened herself and said, “Mykonos Studio is a big player in the entertainment industry. Once | tear Victor down, his company is going to be a complete wreck. Aren’t you
worried about that?” “You said you'll give me some of their shares as a gift. That was your way of repaying my favor.”
“Bingo.” Maia nodded. She did say that. It was intended as a parting gift.
“That makes us partners in crime.” She could never cut off their ties. 2/3 +15 BONUS
“The shares wouldn't be a gift if we’re partners in crime. You would've had a right to claim them then. | don’t need you to be my accomplice. All | ask is that you don’t intervene. Everything’s going to go according to plan.”
Maia kept going confidently, “I’m going to act when The Horizon Awards is drawing to an end. That should minimize the damage to the show. After all, my celebrities are going to win some awards. It isn’t my wish to affect their careers. What’s more, it’s an invaluable show.”
With that, Maia slid open the door and headed to first class. Cedric watched her go, love in his eyes. She was both awesome and smart.
He was sure she could monopolize the entire entertainment industry in a few short years. No other company could come close to Starlight Entertainment by then.
Was it a good thing, or a bad thing? Nobody could say for sure. After all, it would make her a target. With that said, he would fend off all of her adversaries for as long as he drew breath.
Maia walked toward Hope after the sliding door closed. Some of the celebrities saw her and greeted her. She nodded in response and sat next to Hope.
Hope took off her headphones and smiled at Maia. “How was it, Maia? Was it more luxurious in there? Did you sleep on a first- class chair or a bed?”
Maia poked at her head gently. “Don’t give me that look, Hope. I’m going to teach you a lesson if you don’t bag some awards on this trip!”
“The Horizon Awards is like a curse for me, Maia...” Hope looked at Maia pitifully and said, ” You’re my sister, Maia... We're family...!°/
