Chapter 35 A Lifetime Might Not Be Enough
Was it over so quickly?
It seemed like not even three seconds had passed.
David stood still, feeling like he had just had a dream.
He glanced at the door and silently gave a thumbs up.
Inside the room, the girl had moved to the other side of the bed, avoiding Henry’s wound, and rested
her head in his arms.

She murmured, “I went to see him. Firstly, I wanted to retrieve the heirloom my grandmother
and secondly, I wanted to make sure if my feelings for you were not just impulsive.”
left me,
Evelyn leaned against his chest, clearly feeling his accelerated heartbeat, and a sly smile appeared on
her lips.
She deliberately teased him.
After a while, the man questioned in a deep voice, ‘And then?”
Then I thought, why was I so blind before? He’s short, boring, and ugly. How did I fall for him?” Evelyn
looked as if she was about to get angry. “Clearly, there’s a man in front of me who’s a thousand times
taller, ten thousand times more handsome, and treats me so well. How could I not see it?”
“These eyes must have been really blind.”
A warm hand fell on Evelyn’s eyes.
“Not blin
“Hmm.” Evelyn lifted her small head. “I won’t be blind anymore.”
The man lowered his head and kissed her lips. “Sure about that?”
“What?” Evelyn was momentarily confused.
Henry lowered his head and kissed her lips. “The feeling.”
“I haven’t expressed it clearly enough just now? I’m very sure now. It’s not an impulsive decision, and I
can be very devoted. I’ll rely on you for a lifetime.”
A lifetime is indeed long, but coming from the girl’s mouth, Henry felt like a lifetime might not
be enough.
He held the girl’s hand, and Evelyn embraced him. “I’m tired; let’s sleep for a while.”
The room suddenly fell silent.
It continued until David lightly knocked on the door.
After two knocks without a response, David could only remind in a soft voice, “Boss, I have
urgent matters.”
“Come in.” The man’s voice Inside the room was devoid of warmth.

As David entered, he saw Henry carefully covering Evelyn’s ears and signaling him to speak quietly.
“Madam asked me to investigate a restaurant. I found that Abbott was mistreating a woman in one of
the VIP rooms, the one William booked.”
David, under pressure, continued, “Abbott probably approached William because of that piece of land.
On the day of the auction, Abbott had the number 14 tag. If it wasn’t for William, that piece of land
would have been his.”
It was well–known that Abbott had psychological issues, and he was ruthless towards both men and
women, seeking revenge for the slightest offense.
William doesn’t want to get hurt, so he pushes Evelyn forward.
Regarding the woman replacing Evelyn, David didn’t have much information. He only heard that she
was badly injured.
Henry looked at Evelyn in his arms tenderly, then raised his head, his eyes seeming to roar like a wild
beast.
“Investigate where Abbott is,” he demanded.
At this moment, the VIP room in that restaurant was in a mess.
Bloodstains were everywhere, tables and chairs shattered and scattered around. The only intact chair
held a woman with disheveled hair, barely covered in torn clothes. Her battered face was barely
recognizable.
She tried to cry out for help, but her throat had been maliciously damaged, reducing her pleas to weak
sobs.
After Abbott left, William came in to clean up the mess.
Seeing the woman’s condition, he felt an unusual satisfaction. The elegance on his face had long
vanished.
“Evelyn, obediently hand over the land to me. Maybe I can continue to play the love game with you. But
now…”
He went to check the surveillance cameras, and the images on the screen left him stunned.

Mia cried uncontrollably. Thinking that all of this was thanks to Evelyn, she felt both angry and
resentful.
“Kill… kill… her!”
After shouting. Mia fainted.
Within five minutes, David had located Abbott. NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
He was currently in a bar, bragging to others about tonight’s exploits.
“The girl’s skin was really smooth. Just one kick and it turned pink. Unfortunately, it’s still a bit different
from the photo that William provided.”
Abbott’s henchman chimed in, “Exactly, the one in the photo is a supreme beauty… hehe!”
“Don’t worry, when I get that girl, I’ll let you taste it for sure.” Abbott’s eyes revealed an air of
confidence.
As soon as he finished speaking, the door to the private room swayed.
Then, with a ‘bang; it slammed onto the floor.
