Chapter 2174

Chapter 2174 That’s Because You’ve Never Seen True Gentleness

After all, the capitalists' means were not something common people like them could fathom. They could

lift one into the heavens when one was useful to them but also throw one into hell when they were

done.

It was all about interests and gains. Furthermore, it wasn't just showbiz but society as a whole; this was

the cold, harsh truth of reality.

The house was empty when Cindy arrived home, for Aurora wasn't around.

At that, she sat on the couch for a moment before grabbing some instant noodles in the kitchen.

Now that she was alone, she quickly became demotivated to cook or even eat. Plus, she didn't want to

make a hassle either. Instant noodles would do just fine. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.

Just as the noodles were cooking, her phone buzzed a couple of times. She checked it to find a

message from Gary, asking her why she wouldn't join them for lunch. But before Cindy could reply to it,

his second message came in.

'I wouldn't have to deal with this pill alone if you joined us.'

A chuckle escaped Cindy as she read the message. In the past, she thought Gary was all sober, but

she had come to realize the man actually had a pretty good sense of humor.

Anyway, she wasn't sure if Lucy was annoying to others, but in her book, the woman was pretty

annoying.

Either way, she couldn't possibly tell Gary the truth. Thus, she just told him she had indeed promised

Ian's mother that she'd be home for lunch.

After replying to his text, she looked at the bowl of instant noodles before her, then chuckled in

resignation.

Gary didn't send any more messages after that, and Cindy lay on the couch after eating her noodles,

deliberating for a moment before finally grabbing her phone to check for any updates on Ian's scandal.

His management company didn't provide any explanations whatsoever, and it seemed like they

decided to shrug the matter off as they had in the past.

She thought it was good that they shrugged it off as well. After all, even the public could tell the tabloids

were only bullsh*tting.

Still, she couldn't help feeling annoyed every time the issue came to her mind. Ian was riddled with

many similar issues, yet he couldn't deal with them directly most of the time.

At this point, she was like a protective mother, believing Ian had been bullied.

Can't everyone just compete fairly and squarely?! She gritted her teeth. Why must they pull such nasty

tricks in the shadows?!

It wasn't until it was time for Cindy to head back to the office that she got up from the couch and

headed out.

Lo and behold, Gary was dropping off Lucy when her cab arrived at the office as well.

Just like that, the trio ran into each other at the entrance again, and Lucy behaved enthusiastically. "My,

Cindy! Come on, let's go inside together."

While Cindy pressed her lips together and made no comments, Lucy turned to Gary and waved. "We'll

meet some other time again."

To that, Gary hummed a response, then gazed toward Cindy.

His gaze at her was one of great gentleness. He hadn't deliberately done so in front of Lucy; it was just

a genuine emotion he wanted to convey to Cindy.

"We'll grab a bite together some other time," he said to Cindy with a smile.

Naturally, Cindy couldn't turn him down under such circumstances. Thus, she nodded. "Sure."

At that, Gary signaled her to head into the building, which Cindy did at once. Lucy, on the other hand,

stood rooted to the ground for a few seconds before following Cindy.

When Cindy arrived at the elevator hall, she deliberately stood in front of the public elevator, which

happened to be arriving at the lobby soon.

By the time Lucy caught up to her, the public elevator had also arrived and opened its door.

The door to the exclusive elevator opened next to it. However, Lucy went up to Cindy and followed her

into the public elevator after glancing at the exclusive elevator. After the door closed, Lucy commented,

"Looks to me like Mr. Frye is pretty nice to you."

However, Cindy wasn't a fan of the way she beat around the bush. At that, she looked at Lucy. "What

led you to that conclusion?"

Lucy chuckled in response. "He's never this gentle to anyone else."

A tepid chuckle escaped Cindy as she countered, "That's because you've never seen true gentleness.

You'll understand when you see how my dear Ian and I interact."
