Chapter 300
Chapter 300
"Do you know how sCarolineth your future will be if you can get Derek's help?"
Penelope patted her thigh.
She deemed Caroline Yoou thoughtless. She was upright to the point of being naive
"It's useless to regret now."
Nora didn't mention that she had the phone number of Derek. She had already made up her mind that
she would not get involved with that person again.
"Well, you're hurt. Where's Sheldom? I don't expect Hailey to come, but at least your fiance is
supposed to be here for you."
"He's very busy at work, and he's still abroad..."
It was harrowing for Nora to hear Sheldom's name.
She hadn't yet mustered up the courage to contact that person.
Nora was terrified at the thought that she might be abandoned. She had nothing, so she had a morbid
fear of losing what she had now.
"Don't tell me he doesn't know about your accident."
Penelope was shocked. How could Sheldom be so nonchalant when his fiancee was suffering?
The relationship between them, in her opinion, was simply twisted.
Ostensibly, Sheldom was all along very affectionate and tolerant, but there seemed to be a mysterious
veil over everything he did. One just couldn't see through his motive.
Penelope had mentioned that with Nora before, but she did not heed her advice, so she never brought
that up again.
"No matter how busy he is, this is not the time to stand by. What if anything happens to you in the
future? Is he going to be the same indifferent? Then what's the point of getting married?"
"There have been a lot of things going on at the company lately, and he calls less frequently than
before, but I think it's understandable and we'll be what we were after he finishes his work."
Nora just had been just a little disappointed before Penelope said that, but now she inevitably felt
aggrieved.
She was a sensible woman, she needed the care from a man notwithstanding, especially when she
was vulnerable.
She barely bothered Sheldom with her own things, afraid of annoying him.
"It's everything but understandable. Haven't you watched soap operas? If a man loves a woman, he will
find every minute without her harrowing and never get tired of talking with her. If he is so cold to you
now, are you expecting to live like a widow after getting married?"
"That won't happen."
Nora murmured, but she was not sure.
"If a man seldom contacts you, it's definitely not because he's busy with work. He's either not interested
in you anymore, or he's interested in someone else."
Nora paled at Penelope's words.
Of course, she trusted Sheldom wholeheartedly, but...
Sure enough, she was not as strong as she thought, and she needed his solace and care now.
"Forget it. Think hard for yourself. I'm hungry. I'll go grab a bite."
Penelope didn't want to push her too hard, so she changed the subject.
Nora then remembered the food in the room brought by that man. "Wait. There is food here."
Penelope nodded. Meredith opened the box and was surprised.
All the food in it was her favorite.
However, she couldn't recall telling Derek what she liked.
How did that person figure it out?
Nora suddenly felt a chill. Could it be that she was being thoroughly investigated?
"What's wrong? These are all your favorites."
Penelope looked at her, puzzled.
Nora shook her head, her eyes locked on the food, suddenly losing her appetite.
On the one hand, she fretted about her relationship with Sheldom, on the other hand... Derek's
presence made her uneasy.
After a few bites, Penelope offered to spend the night with her, perhaps because it was too pitiful to see
her live here alone.
Nora did not refuse. The two of them tidied up the bed, lay down, and idled time way.
On TV was a boring mediation program, about the altercation of a married couple after the husband
found that his wife had an abortion before their marriage.
Nora was absorbed.
On the screen, the couple cursed a blue streak at each other and they almost pounced upon each
other before the host could stop them.
"Is it true that no man can accept that his woman has given a child to someone else?" Nora watched
the show, a little touched, but also a little lost, and subconsciously asked what she was thinking.
"Child? There is nothing unacceptable. Is there anyone in 2019 still caring about that? But it's the girl's
fault to hide the truth from her husband. She's too insincere. She deserves it." After that, Penelope
realized something was wrong with Nora and cast a glance at her carefully.
"I'm okay. Just asking." Nora changed the subject in a daze.
"Unless it's he's a king who needs a male heir to inherit the crown, or he should not care. An open talk
will be helpful. After all, there are so many women with children who find their happiness again."
Nora nodded, but she was still dazed. Seeing that she was not in a good mood, Penelope shut up.
She didn't know very much about Nora's past, but she knew that she had been through a lot of twists
and turns, though she didn't know exactly what it was. It was not her to stick her nose into her privacy,
so she could only comfort her. "This kind of program is just a performance with script. Don't get serious
with such humbug."
Nora listened absent-mindedly to Penelope's consolation. She knew she meant well, but her life, if she
had to recall all those experiences in detail, was probably more ridiculous than the so-called script on
TV, but life still had to go on.
She remembered what Sheldom had said before. The day he asked her to be his girlfriend, she
couldn't believe her ears. She thought it was a joke, but he said firmly that he didn't care about her
past.
Because of these words, even if he became colder and colder, she never doubted him. If he hadn't
loved her, he wouldn't have started a relationship with a woman who had nothing.
So, shouldn't she have more confidence in him?
Thinking about it, Nora stood up. "I'm going to the bathroom."
Locking the door, she turned on her phone and dialed Sheldom.
In a different time zone, he should have just gotten up.
The seconds she waited for the phone to get through was as long as a century. She held her breath
and didn't want to miss anything from the other side.
Finally, the call was connected.
"Hello?" Sheldom's voice sounded tired and faintly impatient.
"It's me..." Nora stammered nervously. She didn't know how to put her words in a proper way.
"What's the matter?" Sheldom's voice sounded, and Nora vaguely felt that his voice was exceptionally
hoarse, very different from his usual gentle voice. His breath sounded a lot heavier too.
Was he not feeling well?
Nora remembered that his place seemed to have cooled down a few days ago, and wondered if he had
listened to her and changed into warm clothes.
"Where are you now? In the hotel? I heard something wrong with your voice. Did you catch a cold?"
"It's okay. Get up early... Get a little cold... That's all." Sheldom's voice drifted into his ears intermittently.
It was a blur, and there was the sound of the quilt flipping across from him. Nora was about to say
something, but he suddenly said in a hurry, "I... Have something on my side. I won't talk to you first."
After that, the phone hung up.
Nora looked at the disconnected call log and was a little confused. What happened to him? He's not up
yet. Is he feeling unwell?
What happened to those strange sounds just now?
Sheldom hung up the phone. At this moment, a pair of slender hands stretched out from under the quilt
that he was covering. They brushed vaguely across his chest and stopped on the man's shoulder. "Oh,
whose phone is it? Early in the morning, rounds?"
The man in the morning couldn't stand being teased. Sheldom looked up and met the woman's
charming peach eyes. Her soft parts were clinging to his chest, stirring his nerves emotionally.
"Are you jealous? You did it on purpose, huh?" Sheldom's lips curled into a wicked smile and patted
Aubrey's plump buttocks. The force was not heavy. Obviously, it was just for flirting.
"It's just fun." Seeing that he was not angry, Aubrey felt bored and was about to come down from
Sheldom's body when the man grabbed him by the waist.
"Is it fun?"
"It's interesting. If that woman had known that you were doing this with me, it would have been even
more interesting." Aubrey smiled and gently pointed at the man's chin.
"Forget it. After all, the design is still in your bag. Soon, your name will be put on it. You should save
her face for using other people's things." Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
"That's true... But since it's already in use, I don't mind using more..." After listening to him, Aubrey
went up and kissed the man's chiseled lips.
In the room, for a moment, there was a delicate cloud and the ambiguous waves.
...
Nora hung up the phone. Although she was still worried about what happened to Sheldom, she also
knew his temper. If she kept calling, he would be angry. So, she could only hold down the uneasiness
in her heart, wash her face, and go back to the ward.
"What's wrong? You don't look good."
"It's okay. The wound is not very comfortable." Nora suddenly felt very tired and didn't say much. The
two of them watched tv for a while and fell asleep.
A dreamless night.
Nora did not sleep well. In the middle of the night, the painkillers had worn off and he had a bad
headache. The wounds that were not so serious had begun to ache.
As soon as she woke up, her face became much haggard.
Habitually turning on his phone, there was a WhatsApp message on it. Nora thought it was from
Sheldon. When she opened it, it came from the "Number one in the world" on the top of WhatsApp.
"Morning, worry. How are you feeling now? Does the wound still hurt? How are the people in the
hospital treating you? Did they neglect you?"
Nora looked at the line above, his heart warm, did not expect that a child would be so considerate.
"Who is it?" Penelope saw that she rarely smiled and couldn't help but lean over. Seeing the series of
concerned questions above, he couldn't help but smirk and question her. "Tsk tsk, what's wrong with
you? Someone is chasing you? Then Sheldon must feel a little dangerous and treat you better."
"What are you talking about... This is the child I saved yesterday. I sent a message to ask if I'm okay."
"Can a five-year-old type so many words? Are you lying?" Penelope was skeptical and insisted that
something was wrong with Nora outside.
Nora couldn't explain and didn't want her to have any strange misunderstandings, so she sent a
WhatsApp message for Easton to send a voice message.
After typing, he didn't expect that he would come back immediately. Nora urged Penelope to wash up.
He looked like he was going to ask for leave, but Penelope still had to go to work. It would be too late if
he didn't hurry up.
Soon, the two of them finished washing up and Nora came back. Easton's message had already been
sent several times. Apart from the voice she requested, the rest of them had been asking why she
hadn't returned.
It was a series of blockbusters, almost brushing the screen.
"What's wrong? You want to hear this young master's gorgeous voice? Then satisfy yourself. Who
made you a patient?"
Don't worry. Easton's deep voice couldn't hide her childishness. Penelope believed her and couldn't
help but exclaim, "This kid is pretty good. He can type so many words at the age of five. Is he a
genius?"
"The people I'm with say you're a little genius." Nora sent Penelope's praise to her truthfully. As
expected, Easton, who had just been very unhappy that she did not reply in a second, was happy.
"Really? That's natural. Genius, that's my young master."
Nora looked at his news, as if he could think of his smug little appearance, and couldn't help but
chuckle. At this moment, the phone vibrated again. "Is the person with you a man or a woman?"
Nora looked at this line of words and couldn't help but laugh. This child, would actually ask such a
question?
Isn't it too cute?
"Well, it's a secret."
Nora suddenly became less unhappy and deliberately didn't tell him to see how he would react.
Easton's small face on the other side of the phone suddenly collapsed. "No way. Does worry already
have a boyfriend?"
Thinking of this, Easton fell on the bed with a look of despair. It was the first time he had a good
impression of a girl.
Normally, Easton was precocious and had no interest in the little kids in the kindergarten wearing
princess dresses. Nora was the only girl he knew that he didn't hate. He didn't expect her to have a
name.
"Woo woo woo, why is my life so hard..."
Derek was about to call Easton to dinner when he heard him talking nonsense again. He frowned,
opened the door and walked in. "What nonsense are you talking about again?"
He was so well fed and well-fed that he could have whatever he wanted, and yet he was still
complaining about the pain of not letting anyone else live?
Sure enough, children are too early to be cute.
"Hmph, you don't understand. After all, you never understand what love is."
Easton waved his hand and was about to go out with his phone. Derek picked up the little guy who
didn't take him seriously.
