Chapter 1424
Pausing, Abel then added, "He's also asked me to inform you that he's satisfied with what you did today."
"Oh..."
Winter blushed at Frank's compliment, since that was the first.
Even as the helicopter's rotor whirled overhead, Kat Yego was shouting from the other end of Frank's headset, "When are you arriving, Master Lawrence?!"
"Give me another half an hour," Frank replied calmly.
"Hurry up! They're chasing us off already-"
There was a yelp from Kat's end before she could finish, as a group of men shouted and cursed.
Kat then yelled, "Urgh, whatever! I can't wait-I have to do this right now, or my house will be gone!"
With that, she hung up.
Frank was left doing a double take and scowled as he pocketed his phone.
He had received a call from Kat earlier, who traveled to Morhen with Noel York for filming on location.
Kat spared some time to return to the cottage while she did, yearning for nostalgia of her delinquent days.
However, she barely had any time to enjoy herself when she heard the rumble of an excavator and hurried out to see a huge gang of thugs tearing down the houses with their heavy machinery.
They were led by a middle-aged man wearing a suit, who was sternly snapping at Kat's neighbors for them to leave, saying that they would be building new houses here.
Naturally, many of Kat's neighbors were incensed-they had lived there for years, and they had nowhere else to go!
However, there was no reasoning
with the thugs, who had clearly embezzled the residents' resettlement payments too. Even the senior citizens were given just around four grand to have their houses demolished.
What was that if not daylight robbery?!
"Calm down already," the middle-aged man in question said.
He had a split mustache and wore shades, while his hair was slick with hair gel.
Even as he looked at the residents glaring at him, he chuckled coolly. "Demolishing this neighborhood is the will of the Lionhearts. If any of you have any protests, you can take it up with them right now, though I certainly don't-I'm just a contractor paid to do a job."
"The Lionhearts?!"
"What?! The Lionhearts are behind this?!"
While the residents were fiercely resistant earlier, just the mention of the Lionhearts left their faces turning pale.
Even as they traded glances, they were suddenly a lot less vocal.
"B-But this is out of line!"
"Exactly, telling us to leave our houses for just a couple grand?! What do we even do with that money?"Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
"We'd be just giving away our homes for free!"
The greasy-haired middle-aged man pretended as if he was really listening patiently, even nodding thoughtfully when the residents were finished.
"It seems like everyone's complaining that you're not paid enough to leave... So how about this?"
He paused and smirked viciously.
"I've made up my mind. You mooks won't be paid at all! Since you're protesting so much, we just have to make you leave by force!"
The residents were left dumbstruck.
This was Morhen, but this middle-aged man they had never even heard of was doing this right under the mayor's nose?!
