The Contract Lover (Nina Morrison and Lucien Gray)

Chapter 228 Toy Gun

Chapter 228 Toy Gun

Isn’t he going to be engaged to Jasmine Harris? Then why does he give Nelson my number? Can’t

Lucien Gray leave her alone?

Nina Morrison feels a rush of nausea.

“Nelson, honey, I... I can’t play with you now. Later......I may not be able to play with Nelson anymore.

Nelson, I'm sorry...” Although she hates Lucien Gray, Nina Morrison can never be cold to Nelson. She

doesn’t have the heart to say any harsh words to him.

“Auntie Morrison! Why? Why can't you play with me? I am going to celebrate my birthday in a few days.

You promised me last time that you would come to my birthday!” Nelson feels so wronged and begins

to cry. He says with a sobbing tone.

What Nelson says has reminded Nina Morrison, she did promise Nelson to accompany him with his

birthday.

Nina Morrison feels sorry, “Nelson, I’m sorry... Auntie is too busy these days to go to your birthday.

Shall I give you a birthday present to make up for it?”

Nelson doesn’t accept it, “Auntie Morrison, if you don’t come, I don’t want to celebrate my birthday. Dad

always brings a lot of uncles and aunties, but I don't like them! I only like you!”

That makes Nina Morrison feel sorrow. But what could she do? Lucien Gray has left her. She can’t be

so cheeky to go to the Gray Family.

Nelson cries sadly on the phone. Nina Morrison hangs up the phone helplessly and cries herself into

bed.

The days passes in a blur. Sunny and Peter Johnson return from their honeymoon. Sunny buys gifts for

Nina Morrison and asks her out for lunch.

“Nina, why are you so skinny?” Sunny is shocked as looking at haggard Nina Morrison.

Nina Morrison shakes her head with a wry smile. She doesn’t have the mood to speak.

Sunny comes back and hears Jasmine Harris show off her engagement to Lucien Gray. Thinking Nina

Morrison is upset about this, she pats her on the hand, “Nina, don’t be sad. Peter Johnson and I have

discussed about this. We think Lucien Gray is on purpose. Maybe he is just holding off to beat Jack

Harris. So, he has to send out the engagement message to hold the Harris Family.”

Nina Morrison looks out of the window feebly, “I don’t care who he’s going to marry. What makes me

saddest is that I promised to accompany Nelson to have his birthday party, but I can’t keep it. Nelson

must have been disappointed with me.”

It comes to Sunny’s mind suddenly, “Yes, it is! Nelson’s birthday is in two days. I also get the invitation. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

I haven’t bought him a birthday present yet!”

Nina Morrison’s eyes light up, “Are you going to Nelson’s birthday? Can you give him my present?”

Sunny nods, “All right! There is a children’s toy store near my house. The toys there are very exquisite.

We can go there and pick our presents after dinner.”

Nina Morrison feels better now. After lunch, she urges Sunny to take her to buy toys.

Sunny gives her a glance, but can’t figure it out. Yes, Nelson is lovely, but it’s starnge that Nina

Morrison loves him so much. They just meet several times!”

At the toy store, Nina Morrison and Sunny are selecting. Then Sunny’s cell phone rings.

Sunny picks up, “Jasmine? What’s up?”

Hearing Jasmine Harris’s name, Nina Morrison’s heart twitches. She walks away and doesn’t want to

hear any information about Jasmine Harris and Lucien Gray.

“Well, Nina and I are at the toy store near my house. Nelson’s birthday is coming and we are selecting

presents for him.”

“You haven’t bought either? Well, you can come to this store. There are a lot of varieties. Nina and I

can’t decide to choose which one.”

Sunny hangs up. She sees that Nina Morrison walks to the other side to select. She goes over and

taps her on the shoulder, “Jasmine Harris is coming in a minute. Do you want to see her?”

Jasmine Harris is coming? Nina Morrison goes numb, “What is she doing here?”

“She happens to have lunch nearby. She knows we are buying toys for Nelson, so she would like to

stop by to buy some.”

“Then I’ll go. I don’t want to see her.” Nina Morrison is filled with anxiety. Although Jasmine Harris looks

harmless, Nina Morrison really doesn’t want to see her.

Nina Morrison’s eyes light up when she sees a toy gun. She picks it up. It’s the toy gun in Star Wars

that Nelson wants to buy last time! She runs a lot of places but doesn’t see it. She doesn’t expect to

find it here.

“Sunny, I have selected the gift, I will pay the bill and go first.” Nina Morrison says apologetically to

Sunny.

Sunny frowns, “Why does Jasmine Harris always like to stick to other people? She has been calling me

every day since I come back, and always asks about you. She is so annoying.”

Nina Morrison doesn’t take it to heart. She smiles to Sunny and says, “Because everyone loves you.”

Nina Morrison pays the bill at the counter and picks up a small white card and writes “Happy birthday

Nelson, Auntie Morrison loves you!” She asks the assistant to wrap up the gift with a piece of beautiful

and impressive Star War wrapping paper. Nina Morrison hands the box to Sunny, “Sunny, please give it

to Nelson!”

When Nina Morrison walks out of the store, she sees Jasmine Harris’s pink Maserati coming to a halt

across the street. Nina Morrison heads down and walks away faster.

She gets on the bus. The car television is broadcasting the city entertainment gossip.

The female broadcaster is speaking in a Taiwanese accent, “According to the source, Lucien Gray, the

president of Gray Family, and Jasmine Harris, a political princess, have set a date for their wedding.

Their formal wedding will be held on the 10th of next month at Mountain Hotel.

There is a HD photo of Lucien Gray and Jasmine Harris walk out of the restaurant holding each other

on the screen.

The broadcaster’s noisy voice continues, “There three-year-love finally blossoms and yields fruit. The

day before yesterday, Lucien Gray had had a romantic candlelight dinner with his fiancé. After the

dinner, he stayed at her house for eight hours and drove away the next morning...”

Nina Morrison turns her eyes away, gets her headphones out of her bag, and lets the music wrap up

her. She doesn’t want to hear Lucien Gray’s or Jasmine Harris’s names.

What can she do with the pain? There is still a long way to go.

Not only to go, but also in good posture.

Nina Morrison takes a deep breath, looks up to hold back the tears in her eyes, and tries to smile at the

bright night sky.
