Chapter 52: Accusations
“Octavia, listen to me, you have to remember every word, every promise Tredan has made to you, you can’t get carried away with your thoughts! If Tredan dares to take your hand, you must believe that all these problems soon come to pass! Stop imagining things, wash your face and go to work, you have to believe that God will look after good people.”
Get your clothes ready, Octavia.
“Octavia, I’ve got breakfast for you, you can eat it later before you go to the office. I have to leave first, you can drive my car to work later, I’ll leave the car keys here for you.”
Domino rushed out and Woodrow, who hadn’t had breakfast yet, was waiting at the door. Seeing Domino in such a hurry, he asked her curiously, “Oh, Ms. Domino, you miss me so much this early in the morning, you can’t wait to see me! I tell you; you shouldn’t have driven me home last night!”
“What a mouthful to say so early in the morning!” Domino didn’t woman up at all and stomped on Woodrow’s foot, who screamed in pain.
“You wicked woman, no one will dare to marry you in this life, do you know that?” Woodrow hopped back to the car, nursing his aching foot.
“What’s with all that nonsense, drive the car and take me to Tredan! “This was something Tredan Davi had to know, he couldn’t stir up so much trouble and have Octavia Gills pay for his actions and even get laid. Domino wanted to tell Tredan Davi to act like a man!
“Tredan? What do you want with him?”
“Why are you talking so much? Drive!”
What a happy couple, just being together is so hilarious!
“Hello, President Cruise! How may I help you?”
“I’m looking for President Davi!”
” President Davi is in his office now; I’ll take you there!”
His face was a bit useful; Domino thinks she called the right person!
The journey to Tredan Davi’s office was uneventful. He was dressed in a crisp suit and was so serious about his work that he was charming, no wonder he had Octavia Gills, a woman who had wanted him for twenty years! Well, for the sake of it, Domino decided to speak gently.
“What brings you both here? Is there something important you guys wanted to see me about?” Tredan Davi knew full well that Woodrow wouldn’t have approached him at work if he didn’t have something important on his mind.
“As soon as he heard the name Octavia, Tredan stopped what he was doing and looked up at Domino, who was talking.
“I’m a straight-shooter, I don’t like to beat around the bush, so President Davi, please bear with me if I say something you may not like!”
“Tell me! What happened to Octavia?” Tredan Davi doesn’t like to hear people beat around the bush either.
“Her mother had some words with her yesterday and I’m sure you’re well aware of their relationship with the Drye Family.” Tredan Davi nodded in acquiescence to what Domino said, knowing full well that the Drye Family was a benefactor to the Octavia Gills. In his mind, the Drye Family was also a sort of matchmaker between him and Octavia Gills.
“Her mother said that Mrs. Drye had approached her about you and Lilian and that Octavia’s mother was particularly felt guilty toward Mrs. Drye after their talk, and sought Octavia out that day to talk to her, with auntie accusing Octavia of being a third party in your relationship with Lilian and expressing her disappointment in Octavia.”
Tredan Davi did not move, the pen tightening in his hand, and said to Domino with feigned ease, “And then?”
Domino didn’t expect Tredan to act so calmly so Domino got a little angry.
“How can you ask such a question calmly, Tredan? Do you know that such an accusation hurt Octavia to the core? You are so selfish, how can you let Octavia bear the consequences when you have not taken care of the Drye Family yourself? How can you hold her hand when you have not thought of a way to keep her out of harm’s way? Are you asking her to give up her family for you, or are you asking her to lay her dignity down on the ground for others to trample on? You are too selfish!” Woodrow looked at Domino, who was on the verge of rage and rushed to calm her spirits.
“Honey, take it easy, take it easy, Tredan will take care of it!” Looking at Woodrow for not helping her, Domino got even angrier.
“You men are selfish, you take all the pleasure and joy, but have you ever thought about where her painful ordeal is coming from? Now, don’t you think it’s only right that you should step in and put an end to this? The least you could do is clear the air with Lilian and sort it out with the Drye Family before you ask Octavia to bravely take your hand.”
“How do you know I haven’t done anything?” Tredan Davi wasn’t about to tell Domino what he was going to do, “Is Octavia okay now?”
“Not good, her mother threatened her to leave you or else, she would break off their mother-daughter relationship! Now she feels like there’s no left or right way to turn! It’s too painful for her!” Perhaps he loved her, but Tredan Davi was the only person Octavia Gills had in her heart for twenty years, and she loved him to the core, and Domino knew what it was like to be in love. “Please take care of her. Octavia has been on a very difficult journey that you can’t imagine!”
After saying those words, Domino went away!
“Aren’t you going to follow her out, or are you just going to watch me all morning?” Tredan Davi looked at the still clueless Woodrow, speechless.
“No, I just wanted to tell you that last night I went to pick up your drunken lover and things weren’t going very well. You’re on your own!”
Woodrow then went after Domino.
Tredan Davi was left alone in his office, looking thoughtfully at the sky at a distance, he had been careless! Tredan Davi leaned back in his chair and thought about how he could fix this perfectly. He made a video call to Octavia Gills, worrying about her.
Tredan never makes a video call to her during work hours, does he not have work to do today? Octavia Gills clicked the answer button and Tredan Davi sees Octavia Gills’ melancholy eyes even though she is happily smiling at the camera. Tredan Davi caressed her face lovingly on his screen, looking at her sad eyes!
“It’s office hours, why are you calling me via video?” Octavia Gills asked cautiously and kept glancing around the outer office.
“Are you okay? I miss you!” Tredan Davi’s sudden and heartfelt words brought warm feelings to Octavia Gills’ heart. The last thing Octavia Gills wanted was for Tredan Davi to see her in tears.
“Fool, such bravado in front of me, don’t think about anything, don’t do anything, just remember to stand behind me and lean on me, got it?”
“Huh?” Why did it feel as if Tredan’s there was a hidden meaning to his comment?
As Tredan Davi and Octavia Gills were having the video call, Eddison appeared in Octavia Gills’ office and said to her, “Octavia, here’s that Steam contract you signed earlier, it’s finished. Octavia Gills was shocked to see Eddison appear and put the phone face down on her desk in a panic, pretending that nothing was going on.
“Oh… GM, you wanted to see me?” Octavia Gills deliberately raised her volume, hoping that Tredan Davi would hear and not make a sound, or that he would end the video call on his side.
When Tredan heard it was Eddison looking for her, he didn’t hang up the line and pricked his ears up to listen intently and carefully.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
“Er, well, did I just disturb you?” Eddison saw everything while he was outside. How could the small womanly gesture on Octavia Gills’ face escape his well-read eyes? Eddison had done it on purpose, knowing full well that Tredan Davi will get jealous of him and Octavia Gills, and he had disturbed their call on purpose to make Tredan Davi feel his presence.
“No, no!” Octavia Gills smiled a particularly forced smile!
“Oh, that’s good! Just to tell you, that Steam contract that you signed has been completed yesterday and there will be a celebration party tomorrow night, you go back and prepare, we will take tomorrow off to attend, and as the project leader you must attend it!”
“Oh, yes!” A business trip at this time of year? Or some kind of party, Octavia Gills was most unaccustomed to this kind of social drinking scene. Except, Eddison had emphatically stated that it is a must for all the people in charge of the project to be there! Reluctantly, she accepted the orders of her superior.
“Don’t go!” Startled by the voice coming from his phone, Tredan? Hadn’t he turned the video off? Octavia Gills looked at Eddison who had walked away reassured by the sight of Tredan Davi’s drawn-out and extremely scary face.
“It’s a waste to have such a good-looking face blocking me out like this!” Octavia Gills had the sense to say something not on the same frequency as Tredan Davi.
“This woman, really, I’m telling you not to go with Eddison on this business trip, do you hear me?” Even with the images and sounds on her phone, Octavia Gills could clearly hear the angry tone of his voice.
“It’s an order from my boss, I have no right and I can’t refuse, after all, I’m the one in charge of this project! It’s just a party, I’ll be back in a day!”
“Wherever you go, it can only be me who appears by your side, understand?” With that, Tredan Davi hung up.
Octavia Gills expressed her displeasure by cursing at Tredan’s Facebook page on her phone: Bad man, bad man, Tredan is a bad man!
On the plane.
Eddison suddenly handed Octavia a very elaborate gift box. “It’s for you!”
“This?” Octavia Gills was a little stunned, and Eddison looking at her with such fascination made her feel awkward, not knowing what to do in response.
“I see that you are dressed very plainly as usual, and it so happens that the dress shop of a good friend of mine opened yesterday, so I thought I could get you a beautiful dress to wear to the party, helping this friend’s business at the same time. Will you unwrap it and see if you like it?”
Octavia Gills grimaced at her idiot’s brain.
“Thank you, GM, you saved me this time, otherwise I would have been a disgrace to the company. I didn’t even think I’d need a dress to go to this reception, how much is it, I’ll pay you back!”
Eddison pursed his lips and smiled, he felt he had bought the right gift. “No need for money, it’s kind of like work clothes provided to you by the company. Your meter represents the company.”
Octavia Gills had never heard of a tuxedo being offered in all the time she had been with the company. “That’s not acceptable, it’s not worth the effort.” Octavia Gills was afraid of this unmerited treatment and wanted to return the box to Eddison.
“You can just dance with me when the time comes, I don’t have a girlfriend, if you give it back to me, I might as well just throw it out, this waste is a very bad thing, it’s the same as killing me. You’re doing me a favor by wearing it.”
