” You didn’t have to dress pretty for this though,” Pedro said as he watched Mavis bring out some documents from a file.

” Sure, I know but I wasn’t looking very presentable. I’m sorry if I wasted your time”

” Nonsense. I should be apologizing for coming to your house so early” he said and as he spoke Mavis could hear a slight accent. She couldn’t tell what accent it was but it was definitely not completely American.

” I have somewhere else that I have to be so that’s why I couldn’t risk missing today’s meeting” he explained further and Mavis nodded.

” Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry, where are my manners? I should’ve offered you tea at least before all of this” Mavis said but Pedro just shook his head and told her, ” I don’t even think I have time for tea. Thanks anyway”

” Oh… alright. Here are the papers I need you to sign, after sending the money of course” Mavis said and he smiled. Something about the way he smiled, gesticulated and even the way he blinks was so like Blaine’s. The most noticeable thing was the way he pronounced his words… they weren’t exactly American, some times a certain accent would slip out and Blaine talked exactly like that too.

She knew it was weird that she knew such minute details about Blaine but she did because Blaine was by far the most handsome man she’d ever seen – second to her Hollywood crush Chris Hemsworth of course. So it was normal for her to have picked up even the smallest details about Blaine just because he was so damn attractive.

” I’m done,” Pedro said after flipping through the file for barely thirty seconds.

” Already?”

” Yes”

” Oh… you need a guarantor though. One that can vouch for you that you’ll be able to keep to your end of the deal” she said and he nodded.

” That’s okay, my guarantor will be here soon”

” Oh, so you came prepared?”

” Sort of. Like I said, I really want this Estate, it’s perfect for me” Pedro said and she smiled at him.

” Got a pen?”

” Yes, it’s actually under the file”

Pedro quickly picked up the pen and signed it immediately after he saw that Mavis had already signed her part of the contract. Mavis was going to ask why he was in such a hurry when she heard a vehicle driving so quickly inside the Estate. She noticed that Pedro smirked when he heard the sound too and she wondered if he was expecting anyone.

” Who could that be this morning?” She muttered and then decided to ask Pedro about it since he smirked earlier.This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

” Are you expecting anyone, Mr. Pedro?” She asked.

” Yeah, my guarantor. He’s a little late though” he said and his smile disappeared for a moment before he dropped the pen on the paper he’d just sighed. ” All we need is his signature and we’re done right?” He asked while Mavis nodded.

She was starting to get suspicious of him, wondering why he kept smiling and making all these faces.

She was waiting patiently for someone to knock on the door so she could go check it out but the way her door vibrated startled her so much that she jumped up from her seat and stared at Pedro.

” Why is the person knocking like that? Is this a break-in?” She asked but Pedro just smile without saying anything else.

” Mavis! Mavis! It’s me, Blaine! Open the door!” She heard Blaine say and she got mad. She opened the door and he entered immediately, grabbing her by her shoulders and checking If she was okay.

” What is your problem?! Let go of me!” She hissed and glared at him.

” Thank God you’re okay. I was so worried that he got to you first.” He said while Mavis stared at him in confusion.

” Who are you talking about?” She asked.

” Yeah ‘Blaine’ who are you talking about?” Pedro asked and Blaine could feel his blood get cold just by hearing Pedro’s voice.

” Pedro,” he said as he turned to look at his long-lost brother who wanted nothing more than to kill him.

” Hello brother,” Pedro said, smiling from ear to ear. ” I was wondering when you were gonna help me sign these papers, you know? As my guarantor.” He said, with a very visible frown on his face.

” Pedro, we can talk about this outside”

” No, Miguel. We’ll talk about it right now” Pedro said, pulling a gun out of his jacket and pointing it at Mavis who was beyond shocked that she’d been playing hostess to a potential murderer.

” Come on, sit down and let’s talk as brothers – just like old times before you duped Papa and ran off with his money ten years ago. Who would’ve thought that Papa’s favorite assassin would do that to him?” Pedro said, his eyes red with fury as he said every word.

Blaine did as he said because he knew Pedro. He could kill any one of them for fun and no one would be able to do anything about it.

” Blaine…” Mavis muttered but he signaled that she should be silent. Besides, it was better that Pedro doesn’t find out that there are other inhabitants in the house. All he was thinking about now was how he would explain to Mavis when this is all over but he feared that it would end soon, especially if Pedro gets angry and pulled the trigger at any of them.

For now, the best thing he can do is to play according to Pedro’s rules for a while.
