The Ceo’s Convict Wife

Chapter 238

Chapter 238

“Fine, he’s the creditor after all!” she cried inside.

After returning to the Youngblood residence, Jonathan asked Rosalie, “Are you disappointed today? We went to Sloummont but did not find any

useful clues.”

Rosalie shook her head and replied, “No.”

“Are you not disappointed?” He seemed somewhat surprised.

“Because you’re willing to help me find clues and clear my name,” she said. “Whether you can help me to find useful clues or not, I’m just happy.”

It was as if she truly trusted him, and the barriers that had existed between them were slowly disappearing.

He stared at her intently, understanding her desire to clear her name, but he could not provide her with the truth she wanted.

The truth she wanted to know.

“As long as you’re happy,” he said, his lips curling into a gentle smile as he changed the subject. “You don’t have to go to work for the next few days. What do plan to do?”

“I want to visit Granny in a couple of days,” she replied. Her hectic work schedule had allowed her only limited time to call and check on her grandmother. With a few days off, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to visit her grandmother.

“That’s good. Which day are you planning to go? I’ll go with you,” Jonathan said.

“You? You’re going to visit

grandmother, too?” She was taken aback by his unexpected response.

“She’s your grandmother, so of course, I want to visit as well,” Jonathan explained.

Rosalie’s eyes welled up with tears at his simple and heartfelt gesture.

“All right, we’ll go together then,” Rosalie agreed.

In the evening, a delivery arrived from the hospital. It contained herbal medicine aimed at regulating Rosalie’s uterine health.

As Rosalie was looking at the herbal medicine, she could not help but feel emotional. If it had not been for Jon taking her for a check-up, she might have continued believing that she could never conceive.

The medicine represented a glimmer of hope.

In the evening, about 20 minutes after finishing dinner, Jonathan had a housekeeper bring in a bowl of warm herbal medicine. Alongside the herbal medicine, there was a plate of candies and chocolates,

“This medicine might be a bit bitter. After you’ve taken the medicine, you can eat some candy or chocolate to get rid of the bitterness in your mouth,” Jonathan said.

“Okay,” she replied, realizing that when he wanted to be caring, he could be more attentive than anyone else.

Rosalie picked up the bowl and drank all the herbal medicine in one go, causing her brows to furrow. It was indeed very bitter!

She then picked up a piece of candy and put it in her mouth, which helped alleviate the bitterness of the medicine.

“Is it very bitter?” Jonathan asked.

Rosalie nodded. Then, she saw Jonathan pick up the bowl she had just drunk from, which still had some residual herbal

medicine.

Before she could react, he raised the bowl, tilted his head slightly, and drank the remaining contents. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

Rosalie was/startled. “Why did you drink it?”

“Because I wanted to know how bitter the medicine you drank really was,” he replied and then seemed to savor the taste of the herbal medicine in his mouth. “It’s indeed very bitter.”

She was rendered speechless. Who in their right mind would taste someone else’s medicine just to determine its bitterness, especially medicine meant for women?

Although this small residue would not harm him, it was unconventional.

“Well, how about you have a piece of candy too? It might help sweeten things up a bit,” she said with a candy in her mouth. “All right,” he replied. However, instead of reaching for the candy, he leaned in closer to her. His hand gently cradled the back of her head as his handsome face drew near to hers.

“You…” She barely had time to speak before his lips met her’s, and his tongue gently slipped into her mouth.

Instantly, she felt like her world had been upended as he sought to claim every part of her.

His kiss was passionate and dominating, leaving her almost breathless. The blend of bitterness and sweetness became so intense during this kiss that she could not discern any distinct taste remaining in her mouth.

When the kiss finally ended, she gazed at him with rosy cheeks, her lips tingling. His large hand continued to support the back of her head, rendering her unable to avert her gaze.

“It is incredibly sweet,” he remarked while his captivating dreamy eyes locked onto hers. He softly uttered those four words, but they felt like an endless tease for her heart. In his eyes, there seemed to be a glint of longing for her.

At that moment, Rosalie felt like her heart was in turmoil. It was as if she had been enchanted by him.

Rosalie spoke to her grandmother on the phone and set up a time to visit her. After the call, she contemplated buying some gifts for her grandmother.

Her grandmother had been discharged from the hospital and insisted that her health was the same whether she was at home or in the hospital. She believed that staying at home would save a few dollars and allow her to rest more comfortably.

“Grandma’s really stressed about those sky-high hospital bills. It’s convenient living near the hospital to keep up with her medicine and give her the best care, but I’m kind of worried Uncle Daniel, Uncle Edward, and Aunt Sarah might not be all that cooperative. Still, can Grandma get proper care at home? The doctor said she needs some long-term rest. Anyway, I’ll drop by Grandma’s first and check things out,” Rosalie thought.

After Jonathan left for work, Rosalie woke up and discovered a bank card on the bedside table along with a note that read: [Keep it close, use it for anything you need.]

The handwriting was clear and well-formed, visually pleasing.

If it was in the past, Rosalie might have returned the bank card to Jonathan, but now her perspective had shifted somewhat.

She decided to accept the bank card, not because of the amount of money it contained, but because she knew it was his way of showing care.

She actually still believed that, as a woman, she should be independent, strong, and not easily rely on others. However, there were moments when, deep down, she longed for someone to lean on when she was exhausted. “And Jon was the one I could count on,” she thought to herself.

After having breakfast at home and taking her medication, Rosalie planned to buy some items for her grandmother.

“Ms. Leighton, where are you going? I can have the driver take you,” the butler offered.

“Never mind, I’ll take the bus myself,” Rosalie said, not wanting to trouble the driver.

“Let the driver take you. Otherwise, Mr. Youngblood will blame me for not taking good care of you,” the butler said.
