Chapter 595
Chapter 595 Biological Mother
Seeing that the twins, Zachary and Rory, had both won the first prize and Zachary alone had won six awards, the host invited the twins and their parents to the stage to share their parenting methods with the other parents.
Avery walked onto the stage while holding her pregnant belly. Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
The moment she arrived on the stage, the crowd gasped in astonishment. She's so young! From her appearance alone, she looks like someone who has just graduated not long ago! She doesn't look like a woman who's about to have her third child!
The female host helped Avery get onto the stage attentively and smiled before giving Avery a microphone. “Nice to meet you, Ms. Rumpley. Zachary and Rory have been marvelous. As their mother, you must've done something right in educating them. Could you share your teaching methods with the parents present? Also, what expectations do you have for the children's future?”
Claire frowned when she saw Avery. She still couldn't bring herself to forgive Cayden and Avery for what they had done to Nicole. However, a complicated feeling rose within her when she saw Avery's success in parenting.
From a neutral perspective, I must admit that Avery is an incredible woman. In fact, she's even better than Nickie in terms of her capabilities at work, looks, and charisma. She seems worthy of Cayden, and they complement each other perfectly. Nevertheless, after disappearing from the hospital for an entire day before reappearing again, Nickie seems to have returned to her senses. Unlike before, she's no longer obsessed with Cayden. Nickie wouldn't tell the truth, so I have no idea what happened. Still, my intuition tells me that Cayden must be involved.
Avery saw Claire sitting in the crowd. She flashed a polite smile at Claire and took the microphone from the host. “Hello, everyone. I'm Zachary and Rory's mother. I would like to thank the host and the teachers for giving us, the parents, a chance to communicate with each other. Frankly, I'm surprised by what my children have achieved because I never emphasized anything in particular. Instead, I focused on letting them develop their interests so that they could discover the things they truly love. My son has a thing for numbers, and he has strong logical thinking and reasoning skills. My daughter, on the other hand, is talented at painting. I would encourage them to focus on developing those skills...”
Avery spoke eloquently, and the crowd would applaud her occasionally. Claire also couldn't help but clap for Avery. Well, no wonder Nickie always came second best. Avery is really a spectacular woman.
After the awards ceremony, everyone walked out of the venue in an orderly manner.
Due to how many people were at the scene that day, Avery was worried about her kids getting bumped into. She waited for the crowd to disperse before walking out with a child in each hand.
Acting as a bodyguard, Jake followed closely behind them.
Upon arriving at the entrance of the school, Avery bumped into Claire again.
Claire was waiting for her driver to arrive at the entrance, holding her handbag.
When Claire saw Avery and her family, she nodded at Avery before looking at the twins with her loving gaze.
Not only was Rory an extrovert, but she had also received her prize from Claire during the ceremony. Rory let go of her mother's hand and ran toward Claire excitedly. “Thank you for presenting me with the award.”
Claire squatted down to meet Rory's gaze and tidied Rory's hair. In a gentle tone, Claire said, “You're welcome, Rory. You're incredible, and you deserve the recognition.”
Avery was slightly nervous in front of Claire because of Nicole. At that moment, she was having trouble coming up with things to say.
Right then, she remembered Claire had gone to the hospital for a body checkup. In a concerned tone, she asked, “Mrs. Lambert, you went to the hospital for a body checkup the other day, right? Is everything okay?”
“It's nothing serious. It's just that my cholesterol was a little high. I'll be fine if I watch my diet,” Claire replied casually while pinching Rory's cheek. Needless to say, she was enjoying it. I would love to have such a beautiful grandchild. Now that Nickie is back, I just need to find her a good husband. I should have a grandchild soon, right?
That night, when Cayden returned from work, the housekeeper quickly approached him to get his coat.
“Where's Avery?” Cayden changed into his house slippers and saw that Avery wasn't in the living room.
“Mrs. Moore just went to the study,” the housekeeper replied.
Cayden went to the study upstairs and saw no one inside after pushing the door open.
However, the lights were on.
Cayden froze momentarily and exited the study. “There's no one in the study,” he said to the housekeeper.
The housekeeper, who was cleaning downstairs, was stunned. “Mrs. Moore was waiting for you in the living room, and she just went to the study moments earlier. She said she wanted to look for some
design materials. Perhaps she went back into the bedroom.”
Hearing that, Cayden walked toward the bedroom.
As soon as she opened the door, a person threw herself into his embrace.
Upon catching a whiff of Avery's scent, Cayden instinctively wrapped his arms around her. “You're so naughty!”
Avery had been hiding behind the door to scare him.
She wrapped her arms around Cayden's waist and lifted her eyes at him. “So? Did I scare you?”
Cayden looked down and kissed her forehead. “Yes, you did. I was scared about you falling! What would happen if I didn't catch you in time?”
Avery leaned against his chest coyly and said in a sweet tone, “That'll never happen because I know you'll always catch me. Cayden, I'm so happy today. Our sweethearts are amazing! They basically won every award possible. You have no idea how jealous the other parents were of me. It's such a shame you didn't attend their awards ceremony.”
“Obviously, our kids are the best in the world. They'll have all sorts of awards to collect in the future. I'll attend their awards ceremonies then.” Cayden tidied Avery's hair, and his gaze suddenly turned icy as he changed the topic. “Ery, have you ever thought about locating your biological mother? Would you meet her if she stayed in the same city as you?”
