Chapter 46
Emotions
SADIE
I missed that feeling of being free. The word free alone sounded foreign to my ears.
When I rode a horse, it always felt like that. And it had been a while. Once I was on the horse, it came back to me naturally.
Becka was so great despite losing a husband at a young age. She always found a way to live a life.
“I always thought of what Wade would say if I kept crying and blamed somebody for losing him.” We rode along with the expansive ground.
I was awed at the herd as I watched from the horse. “You have a great life with him, even just for a short time.”
“Yeah. Wade was my first love. We’d been together since high school. You know, at first, your brother hated the guy you dated. That’s what happened to Wade and me, but he’d proven how serious he was about our relationship. He joined and enlisted with Beck later.”
I smiled. It was a great love story, even if it ended abruptly. “Do you ever think of going out there again? You know, maybe, you’ll find someone and fall in love again.”
“I thought of that, but I don’t really have time.” She pointed at a flock with the shepherd.
“Hey. You’re still young, and even Beck is still single. A guy is out there waiting for someone. Who knows, maybe the stars are aligned?”
“Do you believe that?”
“I do. I escaped many times, but it wasn’t successful until my very last attempt. I was terrified at the idea of marrying someone I didn’t know. My brother fed me up with the idea that Cenric was ruthless and I was his property and would do whatever he pleased, something like that.”
“What the hell? Your brother did that?”
“Yeah. On our wedding night.” I chuckled as I remembered that night. “He didn’t sleep with me.”
Becka looked surprised. “Oh, wow! Really? You are hot and beautiful.”
“I started to have hope that maybe, my brother was wrong about Cenric.”
“Cenric is a great guy. He’s one in a million. He and my brother are like real brothers, protecting one another. I’m happy for him. You seem a good woman. Just don’t hurt him because I will find you and strike your heart.”
I chuckled. “I envied your relationship with Beck.”
“Well, considering we’re only three minutes old apart, yes, we’re closed.”
“I knew it. I wondered who’s older, but I thought it was Beck. I just forgot the twin part.”
“You’re in love with Cenric. Did he know that?”
My head snapped at her. “What? No, I’m not.”
“I saw it the first time, Sadie. You should tell him.”
“I’m not in love with him,” I denied. I wasn’t sure what I was feeling. I was confused, but I definitely care about Cenric more than I’d like to admit to myself.
“Keep yourself telling that. I always told my husband how much I love him every day. But I was still wishing I had told and shown him more. Don’t waste the moment, Sadie. You two are perfect for each other. And I can see you both are on the same page.”
I shook my head. “He was forced into this relationship. He was just doing his part as a good husband.”
“Is that what you think it is all about? I have known Cenric for a long time, and he is definitely the kind of man you can’t force something into him. If he married you, it was his choice. And I’d never seen the kind of sparkles when he looked at you, Sadie. Cenric adores you and loves you. What he’s been showing you is not an act of kindness.”
Did he really have feelings for me? I was silent for a while. I didn’t know how to reply to her anymore.
“Let’s head back before he sends a search team for taking you out of his bed.”
“He’s awake by now,” I told her. “Thanks for showing me around. You have such a great place, and I have so much fun.”
“One of many reasons why I can’t leave.”
“Maybe love will.”
She smiled.
Becka’s words somehow stuck in my head, even if there was no guarantee of the true feelings of Cenric towards me. I still found myself in his arms, and it always felt more pleasing than just two people enjoying sex.
When I finally settled at the patio, he came back with a mug of coffee. “So, how was the entire ride?”
“Is that really what you wanted to know?” I side-glanced him. “Or why did you just go out and not wake me up? You could have ended up getting hurt, Sadie. Don’t do that again?” I imitated his voice. I was shocked by his reaction, though.
He smiled and pulled me in his arms. “There’s nothing wrong with getting hurt doing what you love.” He pressed his lips on the top of my head.
“Where’s my husband?” I rose to my seat. “I want my husband back!” I did a slight exaggeration.
He played with me. “So you want that asshole back than this considerate husband, huh?”
I leaned in and whispered, “You both are hot.”
“I know you only like my hotness.”
I kissed him on his lips before I sat back in his side. “This is so peaceful.”
“I missed this kind of life sometimes.”
“Your family is from here?”
“No. My grandparents had a farm as well. Still there. I keep the property. I visited once in a while. Since you love horses, I’ll make some arrangements.”
“What do you mean?” I stared at him.
“We can’t come here more often. My grandparents’ farm is a little bit near to the city than here.”
“You would do that for me?”
“Yeah.”
I stared at him longer. All I could see was the loving husband who was superb in bed with billions in his account.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Can’t appreciate a hot husband?”
“So I’m hot, huh?”
I ignored him. He knew he was. I sipped my coffee instead and stared at the vast greenery ahead of us.
“Babe?”
I pretended I didn’t hear him.This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
“Sadie? I know you hear me.”
“Just say what you want.”
“We’re leaving in the afternoon. There’s an emergency in the HQ—”
I faced him and narrowed my eyes at him. “Always, is it? For example, our honeymoon, then your business trip. So when are these constant interruptions gonna end?”
“I’m sorry, but we have to leave after lunch.” He stood, towering over me.
“Can’t we go tomorrow like how we planned? I still wanna stay here, please?” I even put my hands together.
“Of course.” He turned around, leaving me puzzled.
“Cenric, what was that all about?” I followed him inside the house.
This time, I was the one who got ignored.
“Trouble in paradise?” asked Beck.
“No. You’re friend just pranked me.” I went up to the guest room. He was there, lying delightfully in bed with the biggest grin coming over his face.
I propped my hands on my hips before I crawled on the bed and straddled on top of him. “If you just tell me you want alone time with me, I would gladly say yes.”
“I just don’t like waking up in the morning to an empty bed.” He took my face between his palms and kissed me passionately. I quickly wrapped my legs around him as we kissed, our tongues tangled. He then wrapped me in his arms and sat in the bed.
“We can’t do this while they are awake, silly.” I showered him with kisses on his forehead, eyes, nose, cheeks, lips, chin, and neck.
He groaned against my idea.
“Patience.”
“Maybe we can just go to the barn and fuck you there. How does it sound?”
“It sounds hot, but no.”
“We’ll check-in in the hotel in town.”
“Babe, get your head off the gutter.” I narrowed my eyes at him.
He smiled. “That’s the first time you called me babe.”
“I think that’s the third, or maybe fourth.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Now cool off your dog.” I rolled my eyes.
He looked down at us. He was hard, deliciously poking at my aching core. I knew I was wet, but nothing a cold shower couldn’t relieve the discomfort.
“If you say so, boss.”
