Chapter 34
(Hours before the search)
He should have gone back to her, he should have listened to his wolf, but right then he was too hurt, too angry with Alvira, and with himself.
So Rygan did not bother going back into the party after his fight with Elise, instead making a straight exit to the main door. He could hardly concentrate, especially after what had just transpired between him and Elise. He bolted out of the room as his wolf still whined to go back to Elise. It wasn’t long until he heard the sound of fast feet and someone following him.Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
The scent was presumably owned by Alvira “Gods. Rygan, will you please stop for a second?!” She yelled at him.
She didn’t know what she had cost him or what a mess his life was, all for one night with her that he couldn’t even recall fully or how she got there instead of Elise.
They ended up walking by the fountainhead beside the moonhouse steps, and Rygan finally turned to look at her. Alvira, on the other hand, looked angry.
“You don’t know what you’ve done!”
“No, I do know what I did. I fought for you because you are mine. Rygan. We are supposed to be mates soon, and I won’t let anyone break us.”
“Alvifa”
“Am I that repulsive? You couldn’t even look at me the whole night, but you had the time and audacity to go after her, even after I just announced that we are having a baby with the whole pack.”
“A baby you didn’t even tell me about, but you were surely eager to announce that to the whole pack, and Elise,” snarled. back.
It made Alvira let out a bitter laugh. “It’s always been her, right? You don’t even want to look at me! But guess what? I’m the that is having the child, and I’m the one that you will choose now!” She hit his chest with a pointed finger in anger.
one
“And the reason I didn’t say anything was that I just found out last night after the incident-remember Rygan? The one where your mistress pushed me down the steps, moons Rygan, I would have lost our child and my life because of that b**h!”
“Don’t you f**g dare call her that!” He roared, making Alvira freeze in fear. Her pulse trembled from his outburst, knowing Rygan could harm her if she made the wrong choice or move.
There was a tense silence as they heard someone approaching them. He turned to see that it was Kaide, his eyes glazed with and sheer panic. Rygan knew something was wrong.
worry
“What is it?” He said to Kaide.
“She is gone,” he said, looking from Alvira’s back to his alpha. “Elise is gone; she is nowhere to be found; it’s like she just vanished… I don’t-”
He didn’t wait for Kaide to finish as he raced back to the garden next to the greenhouse. There was no trace of Elise, but a slight smell of two confusing scents that were not familiar to him. Humans? But that couldn’t make sense!
With his heart pounding hard in his chest, he tried hard to process the situation without his wolf losing it and going on at rampage right this instant.
“There was foul-play here… Elise has been taken,” he muttered quietly as Kaide and Tazmin, who had been called, were now beside him. “How could I have been so ***id and left her here?” he muttered.
“Rygan, it seems it might be the human hunt guild. That name brought back so many memories he hated; that was the toxic part of humans he didn’t want to remember. And what they did to Alana
If it’s them, they are calling for war by coming into my territory, but for now, we have to look for her.
“What?” Alvira quipped. “Why are you in such a haste? She miglo have just run off after she heard that you and I were having to avoid getting together, maybe she gave up.”
“Not another word from you,” Rygan snarled as he began taking his shirt and pants off. “We are going to search for her; we will only take a small group of our trusted elite wolves so they won’t notice us coming: I have sent orders through my powers: I do not want word of this out till we know who took her and why… Especially you, Alvira, I’m warning you,” he snarled darkly at her.
He could see there was something like nervousness in her gaze, but why? He had no time to question or think as he shifted into his mighty wolf, with Kaide and Taz shifting into theirs. With one loud earth-shattering howl, his troops also changed into their wolves as they all scattered out into the woods and out of the pack’s walls,
They hunted and scoured the land, using what was left of the trail of Elise’s scent to track them. They reached river banks. which made them take a longer and much more dangerous route over a day.
With the troops tired, they stayed to rest, but Rygan didn’t have a wink of sleep; instead, he had given them a head start to the ground where he could smell her scent getting thicker.
He was like a mad hound on the hunt, only anger and regret fueling his veins as he prowled through the lowlands of the forest, never leaving her scent.
He rushed into the damp woods, which smelled heavily of blood and mixed male human scents, yet one distinct whiff had the alpha king’s blood heated with anticipation as he drew closer to the open ground surrounded by large trees..
The smell of death and blood filled the whole place as he saw the dead bodies of over seven men in the most brutal form. possible: huge g**s from beastly claws and bite marks. It oddly reminded him of the attack that happened between the rogue wolves.
And he knew it was Elise who did this. He scoured the place until he saw a reflective silk bead dress-an Elise dress that was now torn into pieces. He heard the whimper of a male who was trying to crawl away.
He turned into his human form, rushing to the human path to block him, turning over to see half of his face was almost shimmering off by claw marks. “And where do you think you’re going?”
“Please help me; no more, no more!”
“You took someone that belongs to me.”
“We just thought we could get the reward money; we were given a specific location to come take her, please, we weren’t the ones that kidnapped her.”
“But you hurt her. You wanted to do something to her-unspeakable things.” Rygan snarled, his voice low and deadly, unlike anything that’s ever been heard, like a demon from the underworld.
“Where is she now?”
“I don’t know! She turned into this mighty demonic wolf, killed the men, and left. Please just let me go!”
“I cannot spare a man who hurts my woman. You are of no use to me,” Rygan said as he held the man’s neck, which gargled in his last moments. He then broke his neck in one fluid crush, snapping the man’s neck.
He goes over to the b**dy dress, taking a whiff of it. Elise’s scent was there, but now it was mixed with blood and fur. He heard footsteps approaching as Kaide and Thz turned human.
“What in the moon’s name, Taz muttered, looking around the place they could smell the rage and blood lust coming from their alpha even with his back turned to them.
“What happened here?”.
“El did. She changed into her wolf, and she killed all of them. This is what I’ve been trying to avoid. She is powerful in her true form, and I fear she may be trapped in it with no idea how to turn back.”
“She has a wolf. She must be scared, gods. I hope she is alright,” Kaide said. Rygan snarled out in anger before turning away.
“She will be: she has to,” he muttered. “But she is trapped in wolf form and is near the human territories, and only moons know how much control she had over her woll not to lose control of humans,” he told his commanders.
“We have to find her before anyone else does,” he told them. Part of him was fearful the next attack would be on innocents, and humans would try to hurt her, the betas take the sight of Rygan’s familiar gruff of his body shifting back to his mighty wolf before he turned to his men.
And with one last snarl, he was at the edge of losing control if he doesn’t find her, he will go mad. And he won’t know what he will do next.
