Chapter 101 Jacob Hung Up the Phone
Avery sensed something, so she turned back and looked up at the window above her head. A kid in a
fur sweater was pressing his hands and chubby face on the glass like a little polar bear, looking cute.
The soundproof window blocked his voice, but she knew he was greeting her. Such a cute kid instantly
cured her, so she smiled and waved at him.
When Jacob saw the scene, he felt as if returning to the first time he had met her. On that sunny
morning, the girl with a high ponytail had also waved to him with a bright smile. Although ten years had
passed, he was hit by her smile again. But he soon realized she must not have gone to Willowbrook for
no reason. She had gone there for Adams Mansion!
After Jacob hung up the phone, John told him about the matter of the slaughterhouse.
Jacob swept the ashtray to the ground with a bang because Layla had gone too far. Then, he
indifferently said, "Get the car ready."
Avery felt a little cold in the sea breeze. She didn't want to stay in the villa specially built for Layla, so
she would rather let the cold wind blow her.
Layla simply washed up and came downstairs in a bathrobe and a shower cap. Her neck was slightly
scratched. When the manicurist she had made an appointment with arrived, she condescendingly
leaned back on the cream-colored leather sofa and let her do her toenails.
When Avery returned to the living room, Layla gritted her teeth with hatred but was no longer as
arrogant as before.
She then coldly said, "I can give Adams Mansion to you, but I have two conditions."
Avery frowned, "Do you want to bargain with me?"
"Money doesn't grow on trees. The mansion is worth 75 million dollars. So, you should agree to my
conditions."
Avery impatiently asked, "What are your conditions?"
"First, leave Astrie. Second, disfigure yourself."
Avery asked, "Are you insane? Do you know what you are talking about?"
Layla casually threw a fruit knife on the carpet and said, "I just want to keep you away from Jacob. If
you ruin your face, you will no longer be my competitor. I have the evidence against your father. Do you
want me to make it public?"
Seeing Avery's expression become sullen, she happily continued, "Neither of us is innocent. But I will
give you a mansion worth 75 million dollars if you ruin your face and leave Astrie."
Avery had come here for one more thing in addition to Adams Mansion. She had wanted to know
whether Layla was the person behind the scenes. But according to what had happened just now, Avery
had confirmed she was not. Layla didn't know she was terminally ill, so she must not have wasted her
time on such things. But who on earth was the person behind the scenes?
While Avery was deep in thought, Layla winked at the maid beside her. Then, the burly servant kicked
Avery's calf hard from behind, causing her to kneel on the plush carpet.
Then, the maid pulled the knife out of its sheath and said, "Miss Adams, please."
When Avery looked at the knife, she saw her face reflected in the bright blade and frowned, "Layla, I
did not agree."
The maid unscrupulously said with a ferocious smile, "Miss Adams, you have no choice. Don't worry. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
After ruining your face, Miss White will give Adams Mansion to you."
Avery struggled hard, but the maid was very strong. After a while, she said, "Since you can't do it by
yourself, I will give you a hand."
Then, she raised the knife and slashed at Avery's face.
