Chapter 15
The next day, Nydia woke up early and busied herself with buying groceries and preparing ingredients.
“Madam, what are you doing…”
“I’ll cook dinner tonight, you just help me out a bit.”
“Madam, you want to cook?” The chef was scared.
The Pascall Villa had two chefs, a head chef and a sous chef, responsible for the family’s three meals a day.
Nydia had never been in the kitchen before.
“Yes.” She didn’t say much, actions speak louder than words.
By two o’clock in the afternoon, she was busy in the kitchen, with the two chefs watching on the side, occasionally handing her a plate, or peeling garlic and cutting fruit.
They were skeptical of Nydia’s cooking skills and thought she was probably just trying to please Jesse and the two children by showing off.
However, they were stunned when they saw Nydia’s knife skills and cooking techniques. “I haven’t cooked in a long time, my knife skills are a bit rusty and I didn’t cut the vegetables well,” Nydia looked at the vegetables she had cut and was not very satisfied.
The two chefs have reason to suspect that she is being modest!
“Madam, are you making Blanquette de Veau?”
“Yes.”
The two chefs were once again surprised. Blanquette de Veau was a classic dish, but the cooking method was very delicate.
“Would you like to taste it?” Nydia smiled.
They both took a sip of the soup, and their eyes lit up. “Madam, it tastes very good.”Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
Nydia breathed a sigh of relief. This dish was very difficult to master and she could have easily wasted it.
When they looked at the other dishes, the two chefs no longer underestimated Nydia. They were also experienced chefs, and seeing Nydia’s posture, they knew she had learned from a very skilled teacher.
“Finally done, could you help me serve it? Thank you.”
“Okay.” They both wanted to exchange cooking skills with Nydia. The way she cut the fish was simply amazing.
After serving the dishes, Nydia called everyone to dinner.
“Wow, it smells so good.” Molly and Tavish had already smelled the scent and came out, sniffing with their little noses, their mouths puckered as they tried to smell the aroma.
“Sir, tonight’s dinner was cooked by Madam, we were just helping out.”
“Blanquette de Veau, Ratatouille, Coq-au-vin, French onion soup, and a dessert, Cheese soufflé.”
Jesse looked at Nydia in astonishment, unable to believe that she had made this food.
Tavish, who had already picked up his chopsticks to eat, stopped in silence when he heard that Nydia had made the food. He didn’t want to retract his chopsticks while looking at the delicious food, so he awkwardly froze in midair.
But Molly had already taken a bite of the Coq-au-vin. “Mommy, did you really make this? I thought it was made by some super talented chef. It’s so delicious.”
Tavish, “Sis, you don’t have to be so exaggerated!”
“Really? Is it that delicious? Let me try it.”
Nydia took a bite herself and sure enough, the taste was good. It seemed that her culinary skills had not declined, and it was not in vain that she had worked hard to learn cooking.
“Jesse, if you want to eat something, get it yourself.”
Tavish tried the Cheese soufflé and was clearly surprised. He took several bites in a row, showing that he really liked it.
“Let’s eat the vegetables first, otherwise we won’t be able to eat them after we’re full of dessert,” Nydia said to him.
He felt embarrassed, but still obediently put the honey jelly aside and began to eat his vegetables. Nydia helped him and Molly to serve the French onion soup. “Have some soup first.”
Jesse ate a few bites of the vegetables and the taste was indeed good.
“When did you learn to cook?” he asked casually.
“When I was in school, Willette said she wanted to open a restaurant, so I followed a chef and learned for a while.” She didn’t hide anything.
He was used to Nydia mentioning Willette’s name directly, but he noticed that Nydia’s attitude towards Willette had also changed somewhat.
“And then?”
“I once made a dish that made a guest sick and had to pay compensation. Willette didn’t let me go after that, and the restaurant became hers later.” She spoke lightly, but she was full of hatred inside.
At that time, Willette made her spin in circles. The guest was intentionally made sick by someone Willette had arranged because the restaurant was doing well, and Willette didn’t want her to make money with them, so she used that as a reason to drive her away.
Fortunately, she did not come away with nothing. At least she had culinary skills.
“It seems that your relationship with Willette isn’t very good,” Jesse sneered.
“I think so too.”
Her response surprised Jesse. In the past, she had always been on Willette’s side. Whenever Jesse said something bad about Willette, she would act like an angry cat.
“Mommy, are you cooking tomorrow? Your cooking is so delicious,” Molly complimented, her mouth stuffed and shiny with oil.
“Of course, as long as you guys like it, I’ll cook,” she replied.
The two chefs in the room exchanged a worried look: were they going to be unemployed?
Tavish, although he didn’t say anything, continued to eat like squirrel, expressing his appreciation through actions.
At night, Nydia studied recipes and acupuncture as usual.
She planned to make some medicinal cuisine for Jesse, preferably something that would benefit his health without being too obvious, or else he might suspect her of poisoning him again.
She guessed that Jesse was aware of the coffee incident, which was why he was being particularly cautious around her.
Since it was her mistake, she had to admit it.
The next day, she had already gone out to buy ingredients, but received a call from Willette, who was crying on the other end. She knew it was about the incident and agreed to go over.
She found Jesse.
“Jesse, I won’t be cooking dinner tonight. Willette called me to come over. Can you tell the kids?” she said, as the kids weren’t home.
“What does Willette want with you?” He looked at her, somewhat indifferent, as if waiting for her to tell the truth.
“At Grandpa’s birthday banquet last time, Willette was caught kissing a man by Barclay. She’s probably asking me to help resolve the issue,” she explained.
Jesse was surprised. Kissing another man at her grandfather’s birthday banquet and being caught by her fiancé?
“Well, they had that kind of thing going on, so you have a chance,” he said.
“What chance?” she raised an eyebrow, deliberately questioning him.
“A chance to take advantage of the situation!” Jesse looked at her with a mocking gaze.
“Him?” Nydia sneered. “Is he better looking than you? Is he richer than you? Is he more excellent than you?”
But Jesse’s gaze fell on his own legs.
No matter how much better he was than Barclay, there was one thing he could never surpass him in: having healthy legs!
