GIRL
Layla and Nolan were in the hospital as Karen examined her.
“So, everything looks good,” Karen said, closing Layla’s file.
“Your baby is developing perfectly, and your health is excellent.”
Layla let out a sigh of relief. “Thank goodness,” she said, placing a hand on her stomach. “I’ve been so worried.”
“That’s understandable,” Karen said, giving her a reassuring smile.
“But you really have nothing to worry about. You’re doing great.”
“That’s good to hear,” Layla said, relaxing a bit.
“So, when can I expect the baby to arrive?” Layla asked curiously as Karen chuckled.
“On average, a woman who is five months pregnant will give birth around 35 to 37 weeks later, or about three to four months from that point. Of course, every pregnancy is different, so it’s hard to say for sure. But that’s the typical timeline for someone who is five months pregnant” Karen explained and Layla shook her head.
“What about the sex?” She was so eager to know about it. She couldn’t help but feel impatient.
She heard in the past that it was possible when a woman was five months pregnant and she just completed her five months.
“I have the results,” Karen announced, looking at Layla with a kind smile.
“Would you like to know the sex of the baby?”
Layla nodded eagerly, barely able to contain her excitement. “Yes, please!”
The doctor paused for a moment, a dramatic pause that made Layla even more eager to hear the news. “It’s a…” she said, drawing out the suspense.
“Girl!”
Layla gasped, a hand flying to her mouth in shock and delight. “A girl!” she exclaimed.
Layla let out a cry of delight, tears springing to her eyes. “A girl! Oh my goodness, I’m having a daughter!” She placed a hand on her belly, overwhelmed with emotion.
“Thank you so much for telling me. I can’t wait to meet her!”
The doctor smiled warmly. “You’re very welcome. And I’m sure you’ll be a wonderful mother to your daughter.”
Layla beamed, feeling happier than she ever had before. “I’ll do my best,” she said.
“Thank you again.”
“Nolan..” Layla called with joy in her eyes as she turned to face Nolan who had been standing at a corner, he also looked so happy
Layla went to Nolan with tears of happiness in her eyes.
“It’s a girl! We’re having a daughter!” she exclaimed, practically jumping for joy.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
Nolan’s smile widened. “A daughter! That’s wonderful! We’re going to have a little princess!”
He rushed over to Layla and hugged her tight. “I can’t wait to meet her!”
“Me too..”
“Thanks doc..” Nolan said to Karen.
“It’s my pleasure to serve you. Both mother and daughter are doing well..” she informed.
“Please keep on taking good care of yourself, I’ll leave now..” she politely excused herself as she had other patients to deal with.
“Congratulations..” Nolan smiled as he planted a kiss on Layla’s lips. She just made his day.
He was going to have a little angel.
Layla returned the kiss, her heart swelling with happiness.
“I can’t believe it!” she stammered, still in shock. “We’re really going to have a daughter!”
Nolan’s eyes were shining with pride and joy. “And she’s going to be the most beautiful and wonderful little girl in the world!” he said, beaming at Layla.
“Just like her mother.”
Layla blushed at the compliment.
“I’m so lucky to have you,” she uttered, feeling more grateful than ever for her mate.
…….
Layla sat patiently in a restaurant as she waited for Regan.
After speaking with Nolan. She thought it would be best to speak with him. Besides, he deserved to know about her pregnancy.
She took a look at her wristwatch and saw that it was almost afternoon. She was going to meet Nolan from here.
She looked up and she saw Regan approaching her.
She stood up from her chair immediately as she was very happy to receive him.
Regan also looked happy as he held a smile on his face. But his smile fell the moment he saw her protruding stomach.
Layla watched Regan’s expression carefully, wondering what he was thinking. She knew that the news of her pregnancy would be difficult for him to take, but she hoped he would be happy for her and understand her.
Regan’s face was a mix of emotions – sadness, anger, and confusion. Layla waited for him to speak, but he remained silent, his expression unreadable.
Finally, he spoke. “You’re pregnant?” he asked, his voice quiet.
Layla nodded, her heart pounding in her chest. “Yes,” she said, her voice shaking.
“Wow!..” Regan mouthed in utter disbelief. Layla just disappeared and when he asked Aurora about it, she kept coming up with silly excuses, so this was the reason all along.
“I know this is probably a shock for you,” Layla began, her voice soft and gentle.
“And I’m sorry if I didn’t tell you sooner. I just wasn’t sure how to say it.”
Regan sighed, his eyes still fixed on Layla’s stomach. “I just… I wasn’t expecting this,” he said.
“Please sit..” Layla invited him to sit and they both sat down.
“Who’s the father?…” Regan asked. He always thought Layla had no one in her life after the incident with Mike.
“Or were you pregnant with Mike’s baby?” He questioned, seeing her big tummy, it was obvious she’s been pregnant for quite a while now.
“No. I’m not..” Layla shook her head. Indicating she was not pregnant with Mike’s baby.
Regan’s eyes widened. “You’re not?” he asked, sounding surprised. “Then who…?”
Layla took a deep breath, preparing herself for the question she knew was coming. “I’m pregnant with Nolan’s child,” she said, feeling a twinge of guilt as she spoke the words.
Regan’s eyes flashed with anger, and Layla braced herself for his reaction.
“You’re pregnant with Nolan’s baby?!” he grilled, his voice rising. “Are you two… together?”
“Yes we are..” she replied.
“How can you be pregnant with his baby? He’s your boss and a very arrogant one at that? How long have you two been together? Did he force you into this? Layla where the hell have you been? And why are you with that man?!” He raised his voice at her bombarding her with questions.
His last encounter with Nolan was not so pleasant.
Layla flinched at Regan’s outburst, her heart pounding in her chest. “Please, calm down,” she said, holding up her hands in a placating gesture.
“I can explain everything, but you have to let me.”
Regan took a deep breath, his fists clenched at his sides.
“Fine. Explain.” he said, his voice still shaking with anger.
Layla took another deep breath, trying to steady her nerves.
“It’s a long story, Regan. Just know that I’m fine and Nolan is treating me perfectly fine and I’ve been away from the city. I only came visiting. But trust me I’m good..” she explained hoping he would listen to her.
Regan’s jaw worked as he took a look at Layla. She had changed so much. She looked more radiant and beautiful. One could tell she was enjoying the good things that life had to offer.
The brand of her clothes were top notch, then his eyes settled on the ring on her finger. She was engaged.
Regan looked from the ring to Layla’s face, his expression a mix of emotions. “So, you’re… engaged to him?” he asked, his voice quiet.
Layla nodded, feeling a lump in her throat. “Yes,” she replied, trying to keep her voice steady.
“And I know you probably have a lot of questions about it, but I need you to know that I’m happy. I’ve never been happier.”
Regan’s eyes softened a bit, but he still looked uncertain. “I just don’t understand how this could have happened,” he stated.
“But you know Layla I’ve always liked you and always thought I’d have a chance with you. But…” he shrugged his shoulders as he sucked on a long breath.
Layla felt a pang of guilt as she listened to Regan’s words. She had always known that he had little feelings for her, but she had never reciprocated those feelings and played deft ears to them.
She had always cared for him as a friend, but nothing more.
“I know you’ve always been kind to me, and I appreciate that more than you know,” she uttered, her eyes pleading with him to understand.
” I really appreciate your kindness Regan. you’re one of the nicest people that I’ve ever met and trust me you’re going to meet someone who will truly care for you.” She explained to him.
“Thank you for everything..” She appreciated his kindness.
“You’re welcome. I wish you happiness and don’t forget to call me if you’re ever in trouble..” he says sincerely and Layla noted that down.
“I will, thanks..”
“Thanks for understanding Regan…”
“It’s nothing..” Regan stated. Maybe if he had been more open about his feelings Layla would be his but now that’s was nothing he could do but wish her happiness in all her endeavors.
