Chapter 2155
Chapter 2155
"I'm going to get the results of your check up from the doctor. If there really isn't any solution to your condition, you can then go ahead with your decision to die. Are you happy?" I spoke coldly.
Irvin wouldn't be fooled by this and turned his face away. He grumbled to himself and said, "I'm not against it."NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
His reckless attitude towards life and death was truly infuriating. "Honestly, if you weren't a patient, I would have beaten you by now."
After saying that, my high heels clanked loudly against the floor. I quickly stepped out of the ward and slammed the door shut.
The moment I turned around, my entire body went limp. It was as though all the energy had been sucked out of me.
Irvin Granger had no desire to stay alive. It was very possible that he might quietly end his own life, just like how he had described so spitefully before.
I turned cold with the thought of that.
After walking past the reception area, a bunch of people burst in from the stairway and asked the nurses a bunch of questions. They looked very concerned. "How can we get to the rooftop? Where do we go?"
"The rooftop isn't accessible to patients or family members." The slightly chubby nurse said with a rather unfriendly tone. This was most probably the result of working several late-night shifts in a row.
"I'm not a family member of anyone here. I'm a trained negotiator. Do you know what that is? Someone wants to jump down from this building. Are you going to be responsible if something happens after wasting so much time?"
Only then did the nurse realize just how serious the situation was. She immediately called someone to look for the key and then quickly brought it
over.
Birth, death, sickness, old age, these were things we see everyday. Some people who couldn't accept the reality of life would choose to end their life early. This wasn't a rare occurrence. However, since I did have a friend who was gravely ill, I thought a little differently. If it were at all possible, I would advise that person to think about it differently and to realize that the worst had yet to happen.
I stood there in a daze as I watched the negotiator take his men up through the safety exit. I then took a step forward. I went over to the doctor's office to meet up with Hendrix.
With each step I took, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I took it out.
Somewhat confused, I noticed that it was Shirley's phone number. Here I thought that she had removed all modern devices from her life.
I pressed the answer button and placed the phone to my ear. I was about to ask her where she was. "Hello, Shirley..."
"Are you a family member of this phone's owner?"
The words I was about to say were now stuck in my throat. A man was speaking on the other end of the call. He sounded very professional and confident.
"Is this about Shirley?" I was dazed. "What happened to her?"
"Yes, you'd better come here quickly. We are in First Pride Hospital. She is now on the rooftop, she could jump down at any time!"
After being confused for a moment l reacted and quickly ran to the safety exit that the negotiator used earlier. "I'll be there as soon as I can You have to stop her, no matter what!"
Fortunately, the wards were just two floors below the rooftop. After discussing with the police officers for a few minutes, I was brought outside. Then, I saw Shirley.
She was standing at the edge of the roof with wind blowing on the hem of her skirt. She looked so graceful. If she wasn't at the edge of death, this would have been a beautiful picture.
This was how Irvin's mother went as well. Was she going to abandon him in the same way?
She heard my voice and turned her face around calmly. "You're here."
After a brief pause, she bowed her head and smiled bitterly. "You got here so fast that I didn't even get to think about the things I wanted to..."
Just as I was wondering what she
meant by that, the police man behind me whispered, "Try to stall for some time. The firefighters are on their way, but they're stuck in traffic. There are currently nosafetys below."
