My Most Precious Human

Chapter 71

Chapter 71

I stepped back, feeling my heart pounding. I knew I should act calmly and confidently, and that Sariel's

mark was my protection, but I couldn't. Aryan was towering over me, and with his strongly built body

standing this close to me, I could feel as if he could crush me with his hand if he wanted to.

"How about a drink, beautiful?" he asked, and immediately rushed towards the nearby table without

waiting for my answer.

He went back carrying two glasses of prosecco and handed me a glass. I looked at the liquid

suspiciously.

"There is no poison inside," he chuckled, noticing my hesitant reaction.

I figured that arguing with him certainly wouldn't be a good idea. I smiled nervously and took a sip while

cautiously looking into his eyes, then immediately put the glass away. He grinned and drank his wine in

two big gulps.

"Now, tell me, lovely lady… What makes you smell so delicious? " he said, alluringly deepening his

voice.

"I'm a werewolf's daughter," I smirked, hoping that he would find this fact repulsive.

"Splendid! I was wondering what makes you special, but this is better than I imagined, " Aryan burst out

laughing. "I like you even more now, Lilith," he murmured to my ear.

I flinched and stepped back. That only made him grin wider. He stepped closer to me again.

"You know, I meant it, the thing I said before. Once Duke Calvet becomes the king, I will do anything

within my power to make you mine," he winked at me.

"That's generous of you, but, as you probably heard, the Duke doesn't plan to abandon me," I smiled

nervously.

"Oh, but he will," Aryan said coldly, taking another small step towards me.

"Sir, you are way too close. Please mind that I am Duke Calvet's woman," I stated, clenching my teeth

and trying to sound confident.

"Do you think his mark can save you from becoming mine?" he asked, amused.

I gulped and took another step back. "I won't become yours," I hissed.

He looked me up and down while biting his lip. "You are a feisty one, aren't you?"

He stepped forward, making me retreat once more and lean against the wall. I briefly looked around,

but the rest of the people turned their eyes away, pretending not to see us. I take it back; one person

was looking directly at us, Duke Orseolo. He stood with his hands crossed on his chest, probably

hoping that Aryan Desai would hurt me. He would gladly attack me himself, but he seemed too wary of

Sariel.

"Do you know that one's mark can be overwritten by a stronger vampire?" He snickered, leaning over

my neck.

I used all the strength in my hands to push him away from me, but he barely moved an inch away.

"Duke Calvet is much stronger than you!" I grunted, trying to sound fierce.

He smirked, "Let's find out." His fangs grew instantly, and he aimed for my neck.

"No!" I screamed and kicked his balls.

He roared painfully while bending and holding his family jewels. I heaved a sigh of relief, hoping that he

would finally back off, but then… he burst out laughing!

"You have to be kidding me…" I muttered under my breath, fearfully gazing at Aryan.

I stood in my fighting stance, holding my guard up while trembling in fear.

"You really are something else! Hitting a noble? How daring!" he snorted.

My attack backfired. Not only did I fail in getting rid of him, but I also insulted a noble who could punish

me for it and the only person who could get me out of this mess wasn't there! I looked around the room

again, naively hoping for someone to interfere, but everyone was turning a blind eye to whatever was

happening between Aryan and me.

"Are you looking for help, my dear?" Aryan asked, wickedly grinning, "Let me be frank, no one is going

to help you. I may be merely a son of the Count, but I am strong enough to challenge your precious

Duke, and everyone knows that." He reached out his hand and stroked my cheek.

I started to pray that it was his arrogance speaking. If he truly could become a match for Sariel, I was

done for. I desperately stared at the door that the Duke and the Princess went through. I prayed that

Sariel would sense that I was in danger. That bond between us had to work like that, right..?

"Come with me," he grinned as he grabbed my hand and pulled me towards some side door.

"I'm not going anywhere with you!" I protested, struggling to release my hand.

Suddenly, I was freed from his grip and pushed away by someone, which made me lose my balance for

a second. As soon as I stood up straight on my feet again and raised my head to see who helped me. I

gasped.Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.

"Joking around, as always, Sir Desai?" Dominique smirked while holding her sharp claws against

Aryan's neck.

"Lady Calvet is making a grand entrance as always," Aryan chuckled nervously, leaning his head back

to avoid being stabbed.

"I see that Sir Desai missed me. Then I should apologize for coming so late." She put an innocent smile

on her face and retracted her claws, letting Aryan go.

I never would have thought that she would be the one to save me instead of Sariel, but I was overly

glad she did. She observed Aryan for a few more seconds, making sure he would keep his distance

from me, then she turned my way with a beaming grin.

"I came just in time, didn't I?" she chuckled.

"You were on the spot. Thank you…" I sighed, sincerely grateful.

"Brother texted me. He knew that only I could enter this room to keep an eye on you while he couldn't,"

she explained, then glared at Aryan. "You shouldn't touch things that aren't yours, Sir Desai."

Aryan clicked his tongue, then straightened up. "Lady Calvet must be aware as well that the Duke can't

have a human lover by his side after taking over the throne. I was concerned that such a delicious thing

would go to waste." He sent me a devouring stare.

"How arrogant of you, Sir Desai. Do you really think that the future king would allow you to have his

marked one, even if he decided to let her go?" Dominique angrily squeezed through her teeth.

"It would be better for her if he did. Besides, she would be safer with me than with him," he claimed,

smirking and crossing his arms on his chest.

"I'm not a thing! I can make my own choices! Who gave you the right to tell me what is best for me?!

You barely met me today! Who do you think you are?!" I burst out, shouting my lungs out.

A dreadful silence filled the room. I think I heard a fork drop on the floor. Everyone stopped talking or

even moving, and all of their eyes suddenly turned on Aryan, Dominique, and me.

I gulped.
