My Ex-wife's Hidden Personalities

Chapter 408 Are You Threatening Me?

Chapter 408 Are You Threatening Me?

Freya’s face hardened as Lucius lunged forward, seizing Maddox’s collar, ready to instigate a brawl. However, their faces blanched in the next instant.

“I hear something down there!”

A cacophony of sounds echoed from above, causing Freya’s heart to skip a beat.

“Quick, take cover! Don’t stand directly underneath the cover, Freya whispered urgently.

As the manhole cover above was lifted, Russell, Maddox, and Lucius scrambled to the other side, leaving Freya behind. As the cover was lifted, exclamations of surprise echoed from above.

“Holy sh*t, we caught her!”

“The others must be here too! Report to Mr. Strategist immediately!”

Freya’s face was drained of color as she watched the man above pointing a gun at her.

“Miss, you better stay still. This gun can shoot down even an eagle. I doubt you can move faster than ant eagle, can you?” This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

Freya remained motionless. She turned to look at Lucius and mouthed the words, “Run.”

Lucius hesitated. He clenched his jaw. Russell pulled him away, gave Freya a meaningful look, and nodded to her before the three of them continued to crawl further away.

Five minutes later, Freya was forced to climb up to the manhole under the threat of being shot.

Two men in black held her hostage.

The rest of the men were standing at the entrance of the sewer, peering inside.

“Could the other three missing people be here as well?”

“Very likely! Let’s go down and check.”

“Are you insane? The stench is unbearable today! If you want to go down, you go down by yourself.”

“If we don’t go, we might all be dead when Mr. Strategist asks us about this later!”

Freya’s gaze was icy, fixed on the entrance of the sewer.

After the men finished their discussion, they quickly coerced a skinny man to go down and investigate.

As the skinny man approached the manhole, Freya’s heart pounded.

Russell, Lucius, and Maddox had been trudging in the sewer for so long that they were drained.

The moment this man searched down there, they would be found immediately.

He also had a gun. If he discovered that she had facilitated their escape, he might kill the three of them.

Seizing the moment when the two men holding her hostage were also fixated on the manhole, she abruptly broke free, snatched the gun from their hands, and fired several shots directly at the manhole.

A deafening noise erupted.

Freya aimed at the sewer wall. When the old, unmaintained sewer wall was pelted by a barrage of bullets, there was so much rubble created that the hole was blocked off.

Another cold gun was pressed against the back of her head.

Freya gritted her teeth. She had only two choices just now when the others were caught off guard. She could either kill the two men or destroy the manhole to give Russell and the others a chance to survive.

The man pointing the gun at her seethed with rage.

“Darn it! You’re a captive already. How dare you do this! Today I will…”

Freya felt the gun press harder against the back of her head.

A man hurriedly intervened to pacify him. “Calm down. Mr. Strategist said, if she dies, we will die as well!”

“Those three people must be in there, so what do we do now?”

“Go find another manhole?”

“D’mn it! The sewers of Kundin are a labyrinth, and we don’t have a map! How are we going to find. anything?”

The man was livid, glaring at Freya as if he wanted to kill her on the spot.

“We already know how tough you are, so you better stay still!”

Handcuffs were fastened on Freya’s hands.

Several people called back to report the situation.

Ten minutes later, a black car pulled up next to them.

Freya watched impassively as the car door opened, and Jamie, still in his pajamas, stepped out of the car.

His face was colder than ever.

Jamie strode up to Freya and slapped her hard across the face.

“Freya, you’re bolder than I thought!”

Freya’s face was slapped to one side, and she croaked, Are you going to have someone beat me up again?”

Jamie seized her chin. “How sure are you that I won’t kill you?”

Freya coughed lightly. “If I die, your brother won’t live either, right?”

Jamie’s face was as dark as a stormy cloud as previously suppressed wild, murderous rage surged out, forcing everyone around him to lower their heads in fear.

“As I’ve said before, there are things worse than death!”

“Take her back!” Jamie commanded, turning to get back in the car, and instructing Monkey, who was standing beside him.

“Also, search the entire city for those three people! Kill them on sight. No need to bring them back alive”

Freya’s heart leaped into her throat.

“Jamie, it was me who helped them escape. If you have any issues, come at me.”

Jamie cast a cold glance at Freya.

“I’ve told you that someone has to take the blame for your mistakes, but don’t think you can get away with it so easily. If I don’t teach you a lesson, I bet you’d dare to run again.”

Freya was shoved into the car by Monkey.

After returning to the villa, Jamie glanced at the time.

“Bring her up.”

Monkey led Freya to the third floor. This time, they didn’t go to Jamie’s office but to a pitch-black room.

Recalling Jamie’s previous words, Freya felt a chill run down her spine.

The air conditioning in the room was set very low, and Freya was tied to a chair in the room.

In the room with the tense atmosphere, Freya waited for an hour.

By the time the sky was beginning to brighten up, the sound of the door being opened echoed through the room once more.

Jamie walked up to Freya.

“Congratulations, my men didn’t find those three. You’ve succeeded, so you need to pay the price.”

Freya gritted her teeth. “What are you going to do?”

Jamie sneered. “Come in.”

Freya turned her head and saw the guard she had knocked out earlier with his face bruised and swollen.

“If you fail to guard her again this time, you can go to hell,” Jamie coldly said.

When she saw a man walking toward her, she also noticed the camera that Monkey had set up not far away.

Freya’s heart raced, “Jamie, aren’t you afraid that Edward will find out about your despicable and shameless deeds?”

Jamie sneered. “Would you dare tell him?”

Freya bit her lower lip. Meanwhile, a man had already walked up to her, reaching out to tear at her collar.

“They’ve all escaped, so what am I afraid of?” As Freya’s hands were tied to the armrests of the chair, she used her legs to kick the man who was leaning toward her, sending him flying several feet away.

Freya had aimed true with her kick, causing the man to clutch at his groin, howling as he fell to the ground.

Jamie’s face turned cold. “You’re threatening me.”

Freya panted. “Why don’t we make a deal, Jamie?”

“What right do you have to make a deal with me now?

Freya glared at Jamie. “You can’t let me die. That’s enough for a deal! Jamie, if you let these people touch. me today, I will never treat Edward again!”

Jamie sneered, walked up to Freya, bent down, and patted her face.

“Freya, do you think I don’t know you well enough? You’re not the fragile kind of woman who would seek death after being assaulted. You’re as resilient as a weed.
