Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 205

Everett's harsh actions left Selena's delicate face scrunched up in discomfort, her head hanging low as nausea swept over her.

Callum didn't hesitate to run after her. Jaime quickly stepped in front of him, frowning as he advised, "Callum, now's really not the time to stir things up. Besides, it's best to stay out of a couple's drama." He trusted his friend's good character, but given the circumstances, Everett's anger seemed understandable.

"Step aside! I don't want to have to fight you!" Callum's voice was icy, his face set in determination.

The usually mild-mannered man now exuded an air of raw intensity and authority. Jaime, who had been a bit tipsy, was instantly sobered up and on high alert.

Despite Callum's gentle exterior, he could hold his own against Everett any day. But it wasn't Callum's ability to fight that caught Jaime off guard. It was the seriousness in his eyes.

His feelings for Selena clearly went beyond the lines of friendship with their buddy's wife.

Or, to be more precise, Callum had real feelings for Selena!

"Come on, Callum! No matter what, you can't go after a friend's wife! You... you're the most honorable among us, how could you...?"

Jaime was rocked to his core. He always thought he was the free spirit and the rule-breaker, but he couldn't match Everett's craziness or Callum's willingness to cross lines. "So what?"

At that moment, Callum seemed ready to stop hiding the emotions he'd been bottling up. His fists clenched, veins popping on his hands. "I met Selena before Everett did, and I fell for her first! If it hadn't been for that car accident three years ago, Selena would be my wife today!"

Jaime was floored by this revelation. He knew Callum had been waiting for someone from his past and stayed single all this time. However, he never imagined it was Selena!

It took him a while to come back to his senses, and by that time, Callum had already left. Jaime slapped his forehead, wondering if he was dreaming.

What a mess! Were there no other women around? Why was everyone so fixated on Selena?Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

...

Everett's car raced back to Moon Bay. Despite Selena's struggles, Everett carried her upstairs, kicked open the bedroom door, and tossed her onto the bed.

Ava, hearing the commotion, came

over, wrapped in a robe, to ask what was happening but was sharply dismissed by Everett, "It's none of your business. Go back to your room!"

Startled, Ava felt her heart pounding and quickly retreated without another word.

Everett climbed onto the bed, gripping Selena's chin firmly, making her look at him. His eyes were frosty, his words cutting like ice. "Selena was that what you call an innocent relationship? I'm gone for a moment, and you're all over Callum. Did I interrupt something, huh?

The booze made Selena feel awful, and being held like this was painful, but her heartache was even worse She forced her eyes wide open, trying to see Everett clearly, to understand how he could be so heartless.

"Say something! Cat got your tongue?" he pressed impatiently. "Or you were just caught red-handed and have nothing to say."

Selena suddenly laughed, a cold, mocking laugh. She pushed Everett's hand away, propping herself up on the bed, staring at him with wide, dark eyes.

"Everett, don't act like the victim here! I'm not the one who needs to explain. It's you!" She couldn't hold it in any longer, laying everything bare.

Everett frowned, taken aback by her sudden outburst. "What are you getting at?"
