Chapter 149
The dumbstruck Elena stared at Madelyn, unable to regain her composure even after a few minutes had passed.
For a long time, the room was silent, with only the sound of their breathing audible. Elena’s mind was blank for an
unknown amount of time.
When she finally spoke, her voice was so quiet that she could barely hear herself.
“H–How did you know that?”
“You should be asking me what else I know.”
Elena could feel her heart pounding.
Unable to maintain her calm demeanor any longer, she did what Madelyn said and asked, “What else do you know?”
Elena wondered how Madelyn had learned about it all.
She had always concealed it well, and there was no way her parents would have let the cat out of the bag in front of Madelyn, so how did Madelyn find out?
“I also know why Caleb and Amelia hate me so much, and I know all about the things you’ve done.”
“What have I done?”

heard what Madelyn said.
She thought it was impossible. She assumed that Madelyn must just be testing her, for she was sure that there was no way Madelyn would know.
Moreover, she felt that hadn’t done anything. It was Amelia who brought Madelyn back after finding out that she liked Andrew. Elena didn’t think any of this had anything to do with her.
She thought about her actions after that. She still hadn’t done anything. Amelia was the one with a problem with Madelyn. It was Madelyn’s own fault she wasn’t loved.
Watching Elena’s ever–changing complexion, Madelyn sneered.
“You’re good at analyzing human nature and adept at using gentle words to shift blame onto others. You might seem like you haven’t done anything, but in reality, you’ve done everything!”
This was the sophistication of a manipulative person.
Only those who could see through Elena could discern her disgusting nature. Those who couldn’t would be deceived for a lifetime.
As Madelyn had struck a nerve, Elena stood up abruptly.
“You’re talking nonsense. When did I ever shift the blame onto you?
“You always leave things ambiguous and unclear. Tha Just how crafty you are. But you do have a weakness.”
“What weakness?”
Madelyn could laugh at her question.
“Your weakness is people who don’t like or trust you! No matter how you act, it’s useless in front of them. You desperately want Andrew’s affection and trust, but your tactics just don’t appeal to him.”
Elena’s face turned pale.
Madelyn’s statement may have come off as casual, but it h Elena right where it hurt.
Madelyn was right on the mark–no matter how courteou and gentle Elena behaved to gain Andrew’s trust or how long she persevered, Andrew wouldn’t even spare her a glance.
“Or perhaps you simply don’t know what kind of person Andrew likes. He’s met plenty of hypocritical people like you after all.”
Elena couldn’t say anything to retort. Her pupils contracted as she looked at Madelyn, and her heart’s long–standing doubts suddenly became clear.
What Madelyn said was true. Andrew had indeed met a lot of people like that.
Over the years, due to his position as the head of the Miller family, countless young women from prestigious families in Klago City had been notably refined, courteous, and elegant
around him.
If those young women could indeed win his favor, Madelyn wouldn’t have stood a chance.
Elena contemplated if she had been working in the wrong.
direction after all this time.
But hadn’t the elders of the Miller family liked her before?
“What do you mean by he’s met people like me? I’m sure it’s all because you’ve been scheming behind my back.
Madelyn, I really underestimated you!”
They were supposed to have a calm discussion. But the more Elena thought about how her years of effort had been. in vain, the angrier she became.
Hence, since they were alone, she simply dropped all
pretenses.
Madelyn raised a brow.
“Not going to continue your act?”
Elena’s heart pounded incessantly.
The thought of how she acted in front of Andrew for all
these years made her feel like a clown. She was so close to winning over everyone in the Miller family.
Yet, everything fell apart when Andrew was the only one left. Now, the Miller family even despised her. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.
“You… You clearly didn’t like Andrew, yet you…”
“The reason I fell for Andrew was all because of your
efforts. Who was the one who told me about Andrew causing the deaths of many women, making me detest him, fear him, and run away from him?”
Madelyn paused before continuing, “Besides that, you made Easton portray himself as the type of person you pretended to be in front of me by acting all gentle and considerate! You -drove me to despair and made Easton appear as my savior. Shall I recount how you orchestrated all of this?”
