Loved

Chapter 033

Iris’s P. O. V

I decided to follow Edward as he dropped off Louisa at school so he could also drop me off at work.

Tomorrow makes it a complete month since I started working with Hunter and I never stopped sending spiritual messages to his official secretary begging her to cease vacating.

We were driving down a two way highway at moderate speed as the road seemed a little crowded.

The car was silent mostly but it did nothing to hide the way Edward had been throwing me side glances here and there.

For the past week Edward and Guillermo have been acting strange around me and I can’t seem to place a finger on why.

The silence between us grew to a level of awkwardness and if he isn’t ready to speak up, I will.

” Fine weather we’ve been having recently”

Really it is. Just the cool spring weather with moderate sunshine.

” Yeah, it’s been clear blue skies for a while” he replied as he peeked at the sky through his window.

” I feel the rain is gonna come in late this year” I said while taking a sniff of the outer air.

” Yeah, it is” was his curt response. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.

” Yeah”

” Yeah” and that was how we ended the conversation.

Things just moved from awkward to chaotic silence.

A few minutes go by and the only sound between us was the trees brushing against each other and vehicle engines.

Driving over a bridge was when I got tired of the situation.

” Edward?”

” Yes Jules?”

” Did I do something wrong?”

” What? No. Not at all” he was actually surprised with my question.

” Then why have you and Guillermo been acting strange lately?”

He sighed before talking ” We’ve just been on the edge of recent”

” And you guys are channeling your behavior to me? Or does it involve me?”

” Sort of. In a way. Look I’m sorry for my recent changes in character”

” Tell me about it. Please”

He didn’t reply and I actually gave up on trying to pry for answers.

I looked out the window and was staring at the statue in the center of a round about turn which we were approaching.

Then Edward finally said something.

” I know Hunter is Louisa’s dad”

And then I wished I never asked him to talk.

I felt like a bucket of ice water was dumped down my shirt.

It could only be a suspicion to him so to brush off any acts that would make it seem obvious that I was surprised, I laughed at his statement.

” What makes you think that?” I asked him in between laughter.

” You mean aside from the fact that Louisa and Hunter share a strange resemblance in both features and personalities?”

I reject any personality resemblance between my baby and that monster.

” Their looks are common genes” I tried to argue.

” Fine then what of other similarities? Like their interest in art? Or the preference for the color black? Or the strange attraction towards cupcakes with only blue sprinkles?.”

He is really observant to have noticed all these, because even I never noticed the sprinkles.

” Art is a general talent and Louie doesn’t like black that much” that’s a lie, Louie’s favorite color is actually black.

” Deny it all Miss Jules, but I picked up my suspicion from the very first day you guys stepped into the house. Hunter is never strict with visitors and he seems to display some sort of dislike towards you. Whenever you’re asked about Louisa’s father you avoid it and I believe you and Hunter have known each other previously because of his insistence on your name being Iris, but he also claims ignorant about everything”

I kept quiet just to let him finish his speech on analysis.

Is there a use to still lying about it?

” By the time Guillermo and I put two and two together, we found out quite soon”.

They must have really been on a verge of breakdown because of the thoughts they harbored in mind.

There really is no use lying because if not they may go ahead to ask Hunter about it and he may pick hints.

” Please don’t tell anyone about this” I request as a plea. This is pretty much a risky secret.

” Guillermo, I can hold but I am not too sure about the women. If they are aware or not is still a question to me but I believe they do know but choose to say nothing”

That’s not who I’m referring to.

” Don’t tell Hunter too”

” Why not? He’s been hiding this for so long and now he treats you guys like outcasts? I’m definitely go-” I cut him short with a simple explanation.

” He doesn’t know”

Immediately, the car jerked to a halt and I dashed forward but thank goodness I had my seat belt on.

If only Louisa was here to witness this.

A car honked from behind clearly because of our abrupt pause and reckless driving but Edward quickly recovered.

” How?” He was obviously confused.

” It’s a very long story” I whispered and transferred my gaze to the vehicle floor.

” Was it an affair?”

I scoffed internally. Affair indeed.

“Not really but Something like that” I whispered.

” Something like that doesn’t justify an answer”

” When the time is right, I promise you’ll know”

He put his lip in a grim line and finalised our discussion.

” I promise not to say anything but I’ve got to be honest with you, the truth is particularly obvious. A little too obvious in fact.”

” I know” I sighed in frustration.

I don’t know how much longer my stay is going to stylishly expose the truth.

” But on a sincere note, Hunter is incredibly blind”

His words evoked laughter from the both of us and we continue our drive in silence.

But at least this was comfortable.

””””””’

I just got back to the house from work and was walking up the pavement.

My heels making clicking sounds that was starting to irritate my own ears so I pulled them off and held it in my right hand.

Hunter left work early today, saying something like he has someone to take care of and I have a hunch that the someone Is Michelle.

That girl is honestly a glitch to his job.

So I left work by some time to six and already made my way home.

I rang the doorbell and waited for a few seconds before I heard the lock go off.

When the door was opened, I was met with a face I certainly wasn’t expecting.

” Dylan?”
