Love after Betrayal (Casper and Natalie)

Chapter 18

Chapter 18

Natalie was in the guest bedroom upstairs, where she had moved to since Casper regained

consciousness.

What an *sshole Casper is! He’s a madman, and so are his friends! If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t have

been targeted and had my old wounds reopened.

Her eyes reddened as she felt hurt, and the tears she had held back for a long time fell silently.

Over the past few days, she had been busy reading documents about the company.

Today was the anniversary of her mother’s death, so she was in low spirits in the first place, only to be

targeted without rhyme or reason because of Casper.

After crying for a while, she took a hot shower and changed into a set of clean clothes.

She hadn’t eaten well over the past few days, and she had been angry just now, so she was having

stomach cramps at the moment.

Now that she was pregnant, she couldn’t let anything happen to her, so she decided to go downstairs

and get something to eat.

… When she came downstairs, she was surprised to find that Casper was in the living room.

He was talking to someone over the phone; it seemed that he was dealing with something.

However, the sight of him made her feel uncomfortable, and she turned around to go upstairs.

Mrs. Jenkins came over and stopped her.

“You must be hungry, Madam.

I just made some chicken noodle soup, so come over and have some.”

It was Casper who had wanted to eat chicken noodle soup, but after it was ready, he suddenly said that

he didn’t feel like eating it anymore.

When Mrs. Jenkins saw Natalie, she thought that the latter must’ve not eaten anything tonight, and it’d

be wasteful to dump the chicken noodle soup.

Natalie hesitated for a moment.

Just then, her stomach growled untimely, causing her to blush with embarrassment.

Fearing that she would feel embarrassed, Mrs. Jenkins hurriedly dragged her to the dining table.

The chicken noodle soup was lightly seasoned, and Natalie didn’t feel queasy upon smelling it.

After eating a few mouthfuls of it, she finally remembered to thank Mrs. Jenkins.

“Thank you, Mrs. Jenkins.”

Casper hung up the phone on the sofa, only to hear Natalie thanking Mrs. Jenkins.

When he heard that, he knitted his brows slightly and turned to look at her in displeasure.

The chicken noodle soup is mine; it’s just that I don’t want to eat it anymore.

Doesn’t this damn woman know that she’s currently living in my house and that I’m the person she’s

supposed to thank? He wasn’t an immature person, but he took this issue to heart.

Wheeling himself into the dining room, he said, “Did no one tell you that everything in this house is

mine? Don’t thank the wrong person.”

Natalie instantly lost her appetite.

Did he come here just to tell me that I should’ve thanked him? Her lips curled into a sneer.

“Yeah, that’s right.

This is your house, so should I thank you for being targeted by someone else?”

She bristled whenever she ran into him.

“That antique vase is worth 13 million.”

Casper’s chilly and apathetic voice sounded.

Natalie was dumbfounded for a moment.

Does he mean that he wants me to pay for it? That vase is worth 13 million? The point is, do I look like

I can afford to pay for it? Suddenly, she felt a twinge in her stomach, but she had no appetite for food

anymore.

She replied coldly, “I have no money.”

Casper knew that she had no money and that her company was still owing a billion.

He darted a look at her, saying, “I’m warning you this time.

If you do that again, you’ll have to pay for it according to the price.”

“Why should I pay for it? Casper, keep your woman in check if you can.

Stop trying to seek my attention, or I won’t stop at something as simple as cutting her throat!”

Natalie said before putting down her fork and spoon.

Then, she reached the stairs and suddenly stopped in her tracks.

“Casper, do rich people like you guys like to see others being humiliated? Do you know that some

people have to try their best just to stay alive… All I want is to live well.

Am I wrong?”

This wasn’t what he meant, but in her opinion, this was what he meant.

… When Natalie woke up the next time, she got a text notification on her phone saying that an amount

of money had been credited into her bank account.

She and Casper had added each other on WhatsApp a few days ago, but this was the first time they

chatted on WhatsApp.

The amount credited into her bank account was stated as living allowance, with many zeroes behind

the first digit. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Madam, this has to be the living allowance Mr. Langston transferred to you, right?”

Mrs. Jenkins was quite happy.

Speaking for Casper, she said, “You’re the lady of the Langston Family, so you deserve to spend Mr.

Langston’s money.

As the lady of the Langston Family, you should conduct yourself in a way befitting your status.

What happened last night was just an accident, so don’t get laughed at by those ill-intentioned people

anymore.

Actually, Mr. Langston is only fierce on the outside.

He’s a nice person, Madam; you’ll understand after you spend more time with him.”

Casper is a nice person? Natalie didn’t believe it at all.

Even if there was only one nice person left in the world, that person would definitely not be Casper.

However, knowing that Mrs. Jenkins meant well, she didn’t explain anything.

After having breakfast, she went to the company.

She had an appointment with Alexis and a few senior executives today.

After all, the company’s problems couldn’t be put off anymore.
