Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Natalie’s mother passed away too early, and she was still very little at the time. She thought carefully
about it, but she really couldn’t recall any important numbers. “Sorry, Mr. Weissman, but I can’t think of
any important numbers for the time being. Still, since the safe is very important, I’ll try my best to recall
it.” A hint of visible disappointment flashed across Alexis’ face, but he quickly said, “Okay. Natalie, this
matter is very important. We have to open the safe as soon as possible to recover our losses. Only with
the document could we legally hold Logan responsible.” Even though Logan had run away, it was
impossible for him not to come back for the rest of his life. However, without the document, even if he
came back, they wouldn’t be able to do anything about him. Natalie replied, “Okay. I’ll try my best to
think about the password.” Alexis shared his views, saying, “Currently, the company only has a few
dozen bucks left in its bank account. While retrieving the core technology, we also have to find ways to
raise capital. I’ve contacted a few bankers and some famous rich people in Kaiton. I’ll send their
information to you later, so take a look and see if we should start by getting a loan from the bank or
looking for investors. Let’s find a way to solve the financial problems first.” Natalie replied, “I’ll think
about it.” Seeing that she didn’t commit herself to anything right away, Alexis didn’t force her either. He
gave her a document containing prearranged information about the banks and the investors’ contact
information, after which she left the company with the document. … Three days later, it was the
anniversary of Natalie’s mother’s death. Having stayed up for two nights to read through the document,
Natalie dressed in black and hailed a taxi to the cemetery. She would come to the cemetery to visit her
mother’s grave on the same day every year without interruption. Looking at the gravestone, she
noticed a string of digits in its lower left corner. Immediately, she recalled something and memorized
the number. It started raining that night. When she came back to the Hillside Villa, she noticed that the
villa was brightly lit—an extraordinarily lively birthday party was taking place. Natalie’s lips curled into a
sneer as she quickly walked inside. “… Mr. Langston really spoils you rotten, Miss Maxwell. I heard that
he had never held birthday parties in the villa before, but you’re the first person for whom he’s doing
this. Not only that, but he personally picked a piece of jewelry that’s worth a million as your birthday
present. That shows your place in his heart… Come on, let me drink a toast to you!” The living room
was crowded with guests. An immaculately dressed man was raising the wine glass in his hand in a
toast to someone. Casper was sitting in the seat of the host, whereas sitting next to him was a
breathtakingly gorgeous woman in a red evening dress who blushed scarlet. She was snuggling up to
him intimately, so one could tell that they had an unusual relationship. On the other hand, dressed in
cheap black clothes, Natalie seemed somewhat incompatible with the living room’s atmosphere thanks
to the distant air she had about her. As soon as she entered the room, everyone sized her up without
restraint, as if eyeing a pet kept in a cage, making her feel very uncomfortable. Casper was holding a
glass of wine in his hand while swirling it gently. Upon seeing Natalie, he immediately darted his eyes
toward her. The woman in red immediately stood up and walked toward Natalie in a pair of red high
heels while showing off her voluptuous figure. She was wearing an expensive piece of jewelry around
her neck, which was the birthday present Casper gave her. Throwing out her chest on purpose to show
off the piece of jewelry, she said in a disdainful voice, “So you’re Natalie Hartwell, huh? I heard that
you’re the bride that Old Mrs. Langston found for Casper. Well, you’re quite pretty, but judging from
your figure, it seems that your body is underdeveloped. Can you really satisfy Casper? Also, didn’t he
give you money? Why dress so cheaply? How embarrassing.” As soon as she finished her sentence, a
burst of laughter came from the dining table. Natalie darted a look at her. “You have a nice figure, are
rich, and can satisfy Casper. So why didn’t he marry you instead?” Stung by her words, the woman in
red flew into a rage. “Who do you think you are? I heard that your mother had passed away a long time
ago and that your father and stepmother had absconded with the company’s money, leaving behind an
empty shell of a company and a huge pile of debts. You’re just a good-for-nothing who grew up without
a mother. How dare you speak to me in such a tone of voice? Do you know how many years I’ve been
with Casper? If I hadn’t gone abroad to look for doctors to treat him, how could someone like you be
qualified to marry him? Believe it or not, even if I lay a hand on you right now, Casper won’t say
anything about that!” she said while raising her hand to slap Natalie. Crash! Natalie picked up an
antique vase effortlessly and smashed it to pieces right away with a loud crash. After that, she picked
up the broken vase and aimed it at the neck of the woman in red, cutting the latter’s throat with it at
once. As the blood spattered, she said with a frosty look in her eyes, “You wanna lay a hand on me,
huh? Come on, let’s see who’s gonna die first!” The instant she said that, everyone was shocked! Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
