Chapter 112 Not A Deserter

Chapter 112 Not A Deserter

Jacob was stunned. The first time in years that someone knew what he really was. But he couldn’t

figure out what’s the story with the young man?

“You are not fit to know my name! A deserter from Pola! You’re a disgrace!” Charles sneered.

With that said, Charles made a sudden dart at Jacob. He was a monster indeed. His action was so fast

that his body become invisible.

Jacob was not his match. All he could do was brandish his dagger to defend himself.

“You can’t do better than that?” Charles punched him, and Jacob stumbled backward.

After a few rounds, Jacob finally saw Charles’ movements clearly. A light went off in his head and he

was horrified. “You are also from Pola!”

Jacob fixed his eye on Charles. Many years ago, Jacob was one of the most powerful leaders in Pola.

But today, he was defeated by a young man! What’s more, the young man was from Pola too! When he

thought about it, his eyes were full of fear and pain.

Jacob was not afraid of death. The only thing he feared was bringing discredit on Pola. He had done

some terrible things these years.

“Keep fighting!” Charles shouted and attacked Jacob again.

Jacob fought back as hard as he could. But he was at a disadvantage with Charles.

Samba stood nearby and looked at them, his eyes widening, because they moved too fast for his eyes

see anything.

“That’s enough for today.” Charles sneered and punched Jacob in the chest, with all his might.

With a big sudden pain, Jacob flew away and fell heavily to the ground.

Charles walked closer and looked down at him. “You’re not that good!” he said.

Jacob wiped off the blood from the corners of his mouth and asked, “Who the hell are you?!”

“You don’t deserve to know my name! You are a deserter!” Charles said scornfully.

“Shut up! I’m not a deserter!” roared Jacob with rising excitement.

“I don’t understand why you’re being like this. You were a hero in Pola, Jacob! We all thought you were

dead. Your name was really embedded very, very deeply in each soldier’s brain, including me. I know

well about your victories! I can go on and on about your military achievements!” Charles said sadly.

When Jacob heard these words, he trembled, his face pale with pain and traces of tears on his cheeks.

“Shut up! Shut your mouth!” Jacob shouted in pain.

Jacob’s past glories had become his scar now. He wanted to keep them to himself. But Charles evoked

his memory of the past. It was with a great amount of shame for him!

“You are Pola’s hero, Jacob! But look at you now! You are a deserter, a liar! You do not deserve their © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

respects,” Charles sneered.

Charles’ words were a sore point with Jacob. He got down on his knees, weeping such heart-broken

tears. “Just stop! Please, stop!” he cried.

“You intended to assassinate Baron Owen, right? What you just did is punishable by death, for he is the

Defender of Pola! But I’m not killing you because Pola soldiers don’t kill each other,” Charles said

sharply.

He paused for a fraction of a second and continued, “But if you let that happen again, I will absolutely

kill you!” Charles said and left with Samba.

Jacob was thoroughly stunned. He was shaken by these unexpected words! Baron was the Defender

of Pola! And he tried to kill him. He almost became a sinner against Pola!

Just then, there was a crash of thunder, and suddenly the rain came down.

Jacob knelt down and burst into tears. Soon, he was soaking wet with rain.

When Charles went back the Brone Group, he told Baron all about Jacob.

Baron thought for a minute and said, “It’s not that simple. Pola soldiers are brave men. They could

never be a deserter! I will never lose confidence in them!”

“Maybe there is a reason that he can’t tell us. He was in a lot of pain when I mentioned his past in Pola.

Clearly, he still loves Pola,” Charles said.

“Go and look into it! Find out what happened to him!” Baron ordered.

“Yes, Mr. Owen!” Charles said and left.

Baron stood by the window and stared into the distance. Memories of Pola came flooding back.

William was anxiously waiting for Jacob. When Jacob came back, he walked forward with a smile on

his face.

“Welcome back, Jacob! You must have done it, right? You’ve never failed me!” said William.

Wayne was his favorite grandson, but owing to Baron, he was disabled now. Baron cut his hamstrings

and crushed his leg. He could only be in bed for the rest of his life. Hate welled up inside William as he

thought of this.

But to everyone’s surprise, Jacob said, “Sorry, Mr. Porter. I failed!”

The smile had gone from William’s face, to be replaced by a very ugly look. “What do you mean,

Jacob?”

“The task is beyond my powers, so I give up!” Then, after a pause, Jacob continued, “Mr. Porter, you

saved my life eight years ago. In return, I have worked for the Porter family for eight years. Now I owe

you nothing! I feel it is time to leave.”

William’s face went white when he heard the words. Relying on Jacob, he made a lot of enemies over

the years. Once Jacob left, he was nothing and the enemies would come and get their revenge.

William tried to make Jacob stay. He asked gently, “What happened, Jacob? Why do you have to leave

me?”

“You don’t know who you messed with, Mr. Porter! There is nothing I can do. No one will be able to

protect you!” Jacob said calmly.

“What nonsense! After years of continuous development, Our Porter family was a big family now! I’m

not afraid of anyone!” William said furiously.
