Chapter 564 Aspiring To Be Carefree
Chapter 564 Aspiring To Be Carefree
Jonathan had a bad feeling about Gregory. This feeling was purely Jonathan's intuition without any logical explanation! Therefore, he didn't feel it was right to say much at the moment. After all, Gregory had been raised by Richard since he was a child, and it wouldn't be fair to cast doubt on him just because of Jonathan's own feelings.
However, in the end, Jonathan decided to give Richard a call.
He didn't want any minor oversight on his part to lead to irreversible regret.
At the very least, don't leave yourself with any regrets.
So, after boarding the plane, Jonathan seized the opportunity before takeoff to call Richard.
After the call connected, Richard was slightly puzzled. He chuckled and said, “Why are you calling me again? You don't seem like the type to be so reluctant to part!”
With a smile, Jonathan then asked seriously, “Master, there's no one else around you, right?”
Richard asked, “No. What's the matter?”
Jonathan said, “Master, I know that Gregory is your close confidant. I hope you don't think I'm trying to stir up trouble with what I'm about to say!”
Richard then said seriously, “Jonathan, I trust you more than anyone else. No matter what you say, I will never think that you are stirring up trouble! You are not that kind of person.”
“Thank you, Master!” Jonathan could feel Richard's sincerity. He immediately said, “I have a hunch, and my hunches are usually accurate. I feel that Gregory's motives are not entirely pure, he seems particularly interested in Sovereign Mirror. You must be wary of him! I know that your cultivation is profound now, Master, but I'm afraid you might let your guard down with those around you.”
Richard's expression grew serious, he asked, “Do you really think there's something wrong with Gregory?” Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
Jonathan said, “It's just my intuition, but caution is the key here. Master, I hope you can be more vigilant!”
“Alright, I understand,” Richard said. “I will take your words to heart.”
Jonathan immediately said, “Well, I won't disturb you then.”
“Take extra care yourself!” said Richard.
Jonathan gave a slight smile and said, “Alright.”
Afterwards, Jonathan hung up the phone.
Afterward, the plane took off, soaring straight into the sky.
That evening, Jonathan returned to Eastsummer. Walrion, Aurora, and Torrence drove to pick up Jonathan.
After a lengthy journey around Alberbridge Range, they finally arrived in Eastsummer!
Jonathan's expression remained dazed. Although he had made up his mind, he couldn't quickly recover from his sorrow. Torrence, who was closest to Jonathan, couldn't help but ask him while they were in the car, “You went to Lostaria, which should have been a happy occasion. Why do you seem so unhappy after returning? What exactly happened?”
Jonathan said to Torrence, “Don't ask me what happened. Today, I want to get drunk. When we get back, you guys' company in drinking will be the greatest help you can give me!”
Walrion was the first to say, “Your Majesty, I would be honored to have a drink with you!” he spoke while he was driving.
Then Jonathan turned to Aurora and asked, “What about you?”
Aurora appeared incredibly alert as she said, “I cannot drink for I must stay sober to ensure your Majesty's safety!”
With a light smile, Jonathan chose not to say more.
The decision was made to drink wine within the castle.
Yeverie was eagerly awaiting Jonathan's return, but she didn't expect him to be so downcast. She had imagined that when Jonathan came back, he would be carefree and full of joy.
Yeverie was originally resentful towards Jonathan, but her heart clenched in sympathy seeing him so downcast. Her resentment dissipated, evaporating like smoke in the wind.
The food and drinks were quickly prepared. There was steak, a variety of delicacies, and even Chanaean cuisine! The drinks included the likes of Remy Martin.
The best thing about Dietrich Castle was undoubtedly its fine wine.
However, for Jonathan, good wine was somewhat wasted, because he was a heavy drinker.
That night, Jonathan really got drunk. He was utterly and completely intoxicated.
He just drank heartily and let himself get thoroughly drunk!
However, entering dreamland in such a way gave Jonathan an unprecedented sense of satisfaction!
The notion that it would be no use trying to drown one's sorrows with alcohol may not necessarily be accurate. This was because when one was overwhelmed by the effects of alcohol, their consciousness became blurred, and they might stop thinking about anything at all.
When one was heartbroken, they often find solace in drinking, and this was not without reason.
Sometimes, alcohol could be a good remedy.
Walrion, Torrence, and Yeverie were all drinking together. However, none of them got drunk. Aurora was always by their side, watching over them. Afterward, the four of them helped Jonathan back to his room.
This was the first time the four of them had seen Jonathan, who was always strong, confident, and
composed, display such emotions.
He was so disheartened.
The four of them couldn't help but feel puzzled. What exactly had Jonathan experienced in Divine Realm?
Then, under the urging of the other three, Walrion dialed Beatrix's number.
Once the call connected, Beatrix didn't say much. “If Jonathan doesn't want to say anything, then it's not right for me to tell you. He might be down for a while, but I believe he will get better. You just need to put in a little more effort.”
So, the phone call just ended like that.
The next day, Jonathan woke up from his hangover.
The sun is shining brightly!
The first thing he saw was the gentle and beautiful Yeverie. She called out, “Your Majesty!”
Jonathan sat up, a faint smile on his face. He said, “You don't need to stay by my side. I'm fine!”
Yeverie stepped forward, embracing Jonathan's head, and said, “Your Majesty, no matter what happens, Yeverie will always be by your side.”
Jonathan gently broke away from Yeverie's embrace and said, “I need to get up now. I'm a bit hungry.
Could you prepare something for me to eat?”
Yeverie didn't overthink it, and simply said, “Okay!”
After breakfast, Jonathan gave orders to Walrion. He instructed him to bring in more blood. In fact, he was even willing to pay a hefty price for it if it meant calling for volunteers to donate blood.
Even though Jonathan was somewhat eager for quick success, he would never resort to doing anything outrageous or harmful.
Within three days, Jonathan ceaselessly consumed fresh blood, transforming it into combat force!
For three days, he continued consuming blood, yet he only managed to advance one level in his cultivation.
Jonathan noticed something unsettling. The progression was becoming increasingly difficult. Despite consuming so much fresh blood, the benefits it could bring were diminishing.
In this situation, it seemed that the only viable solution was to find a living person and feed on fresh blood. In a way, there didn't appear to be any other good options.
Jonathan would not consider this approach for he would not let himself tread the path of dark magic.
At this point, he was unable to hold back his curiosity, so he asked Walrion, “In the vampire clan, how does one enhance their cultivation in the later stages?”
Walrion replied, “Your Majesty, generally, when a vampire member reaches Immortal Stage, their
progress slows down significantly. A master of the fifth level in Immortal Stage would need to practice for as long as ten years, and this doesn't even take into account their secret rituals of human blood sacrifice.”
“Moreover, ten years is considered extremely fast for someone with such high talent,” Walrion said. “Your Majesty, your cultivation speed is unprecedented. I urge you not to act too hastily! Otherwise, you might lose your mind and go mad!”
Jonathan paid no attention to Walrion, he murmured, “Ten years?”
D*mn it! Jonathan couldn't help but feel frustrated. Ten years, if it takes ten years to reach the ninth level of Immortal Stage, then how many more years would it take for him to concoct Destino Fruit?
How many more years will it take for me to surpass Divine Emperor?
Can Catherine wait for me for so many years?
Jonathan took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing all his irritation and unease.
“Alright, I understand,” Jonathan said with a smile to Walrion.
Walrion let out a slight sigh of relief.
For the following month, Jonathan spent his time practicing in the ancient castle.
Through his relentless practice, he finally reached the fifth level of Immortal Stage!
Over the past year, Jonathan had gone through so much, and his transformation had been immense. He arrived in Horington at the beginning of last year, but it was almost October now. In this one year and ten months, his cultivation had progressed from the peak of Neutralizing Force to the unimaginable fifth level of Immortal Stage!
His progress was beyond imagination.
This was also a change brought about after the advent of the Great Tribulation.
After a month of dedicated training, Jonathan's mood had significantly improved, and he was no longer as gloomy as before.
Jonathan began to feel that constantly cultivating there was like attempting the impossible.
The gradual progress was just too slow. He wanted to go and look around, perhaps he might stumble upon an opportunity that way.
Jonathan was a man who disliked trouble. Hence, he didn't tell anyone, and just left a note. Then he got in his car and left Eastsummer.
However, it was worth mentioning that Jonathan also left a letter for Yeverie.
In the letter, Jonathan apologizes to her!
Yeverie, writing you this letter is as good as meeting you in person. I know I've hurt you deeply. Although you've said nothing all this while, and I've been living day by day, saying nothing as well. But I know, I owe you an apology! I made promises to you to give you happiness, but in the end, I failed to
fulfill any of them. There's something I've never mentioned as I do not want my personal affairs to gain pity from everyone. But I feel that I owe you an explanation! I'm a selfish person who disregards others' feelings. If I like someone, I’ll do that. Hence, with you, I was never deceitful. My love for my wife Catherine is genuine, and my affection for you is just as real. However, Catherine risked her life to save me, and her life is now hanging in the balance. She has gone with Divine Emperor, and her fate is unknown. Now, I don't want anything, but to focus on my cultivation. I am hoping to use my own abilities to save Catherine! As for us, Yeverie, I can't give you anything. If you meet someone you like, go ahead and marry him. I will bless you!
When Yeverie saw this letter, she finally understood everything. Her tears could no longer be held back and began to fall.
She felt that Jonathan was never a selfish person. He was a particularly free-spirited and exceptionally upright man!
Yeverie silently vowed in her heart. Jonathan, I will wait for you forever!
As for the note Jonathan left for Walrion and the others, it was quite straightforward.
I'm leaving, and I don't want you to look for me. The affairs of the vampire will be entrusted to the three of you—Walrion, Torrence, and Aurora. I need to travel to many places to hone my cultivation.
It was as simple as that, and so capricious!
Subsequently, Jonathan drove that Land Rover out of Alberbridge Range.
