CHAPTER LI

CHASE FISTED HIS hands into a ball and narrowed his eyes at Lucas, who just stood there, staring at him, not saying a word.
“You didn’t have to put it like that, Lucas, “He took a step towards Lucas.
Lucas matched his stare, no regret in his eyes. “How did I put it?”
“Fuck, Lucas,” Chase growled. “I don’t need to explain it to you. You said it as if we were responsible for the lady’s death,”
“We didn’t kill her but we definitely were responsible for it. If you didn’t leave Sophia alive, fucking Volkov would have known nothing about her and he wouldn’t have brought her grandma into this war between us,” Lucas replied.
“Lucas, you-,”Chase was interrupted by Charlie’s meow beside his feet.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
“Great,” Lucas mumbled, venom lacing his words. “Just as Sophia is nosy, her pretty little pet is not any different,”
Chase ignored Lucas and looked down at the animal before picking it up. “Charlie. Why are you here?” When the cat meowed again, Chase frowned. “How did you leave my room? Is Sophia still – ” His words died in his throat, and he froze, then stared at Lucas, who was literally glaring at the poor cat. “I think she overheard us,”
Lucas chuckled. “Sophia heard us? I’m surprised I haven’t heard her baby sobs out there,”
“Dammit, Lucas. You can’t be dumb,” Chase seethed. “How else would Charlie have gotten her if Sophia didn’t-“He clamped his mouth when it struck him that it was pointless explaining to Lucas. “I can’t do this with you, right now,” He then rushed out of his study, leaving Lucas again.
The moment Chase walked out of the door, Lucas’ face softened, and his heart constricted with pain, guilt, and anger towards himself.
Sophia was his sister, and as much as he wanted her to be in pain, he couldn’t bear to see her in that same pain.
With those thoughts, he went after Chase.

Sophia walked down the lonely streets of Chase’s estate. She wasn’t sure how she had left the mansion or passed by the guards, she had just left. All she knew was that she was gone and wasn’t planning on turning back.
“You can’t hide the truth from her that her grandma was killed because of us,”
A lone tear slid down her cheek as Lucas’ words replayed in her mind. They were the reason her Nana was dead. They had taken away her Nana away from her. And who was the sole reason for all that
Chase Romano.
A humorless and pained chuckle eluded her lips at the thought of that certain dark-haired, dark eyed, handsome, and attractive man. He had done nothing but destroy her life and dreams but what did she do? She forgot her Nana was in his captivity just as she was, and even asked him to touch her down there, to ease the itch she felt in her core.
What had she been thinking when she gave herself again to someone as devilish as that? Someone who didn’t think twice before ending others’ lives just as he had done worse to hers’.
It was first her parents, then her peaceful sleep. After that, he took her away from her only source of joy and kept her in his large mansion to explore her body. He took all of her friends’ lives, showed her just how violent he could be by carving his name on her skin and then what? He decided to not show up for a month, only to suddenly turn into a fake gentleman. And like a naive fool, she fell for his charms, ignored Claudio’s advice and asked Chase to-
Sophia almost hurled up at the thought of that until she remembered Claudio and her eyes widened. He could help her, right? She still had the chance to turn Chase up to the police for all his crimes, right?
The business card.
She had left it back at Chase’s mansion. She hoped no one would see it before she returned back, so, with that thought, Sophia turned back only to bump into a hard chest.
“Oomph!” She whined and rubbed her forehead. She looked up at the person, but before her eyes could lock with the person’s own, a black bag was thrown over her head and she gasped, struggling for breath while the assailant gripped the end of the bag tighter.
“Dannazione, Rocco, non possiamo ucciderla. Che cazzo credi di fare?” One of the men glared at the one holding the black bag over her head while Sophia kept on struggling. “IL capo la vuole viva,” He then shoved him aside.
{“Dammit, Rocco, we can’t kill her. What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”}{“The boss wants her alive”}
The second man sneered, frustration evident in his tone. “Che cazzo avrei fatto? Lei e la fottuta ragione per cui tutto e andato in malora. Forse se lei semplicemente morisse, Boss e Chase Romano smetterebbero di seguirla come fottute code,”
{“What the fuck would I have done? She’s the fucking reason everything has all gone down the drain. Maybe if she just dies, Boss and Chase Romano would stop following after her like fucking tails”}
Sophia shuddered at the mention of Chase. Was he the reason she was going to be killed? But no one dared to call his by his full name, not even his cousins. Chase couldn’t be the one who sent those men after her. But the question was, aside from Chase, what would those people want from her?
“Hai un dannato pazzo lassu?” The first man looked at the latter’s head as if looking into his brain and looked back into his eyes. “IL capo non seguirebbe mai in giro una ragazzina diciottenne perche gliene frega qualcosa di lei o altro. Tutto quello che puo fare e tenerla come un giocattolo del sesso proprio come lei si era ingenuamente data al fottuto Chase Romano. Il suo capo e la leva per scappare L’ira di Romano anche per aver ucciso la nonna e,”
