The hooligans were aroused by Charles' disrespectful talk. “It'll be much more fun if we get to join you
too. Don't you forget about us!”
Skylar took the opportunity to run away when they were chatting because she knew she stood no
chance against them if they were to get physical.
Recalling that there was a police station nearby, Skylar shouted for help as she ran. This was the path
that she had taken for years back at school and she was very familiar with it.
This time, she ran as if her life depended on it. She doubted that she had run that fast at the one
thousand five hundred meter race in school.
However, she didn't go far when Charles grabbed her by the collar.
Struggling and coughing for breath, Skylar thought she was doomed when Charles suddenly released
his grip on her. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Gasping for breath, she looked up and saw two policemen walking toward them.
She was in luck that day.
Charles glared at Skylar, warning her to keep quiet, but she rushed toward the policemen and almost
knocked into them.
She said, “Help me! They're trying to kidnap me!”
Skylar was only recognized when she took off her mask at the station.
“They were going to kidnap me! I don't feel safe,” she said agitatedly.
However, the officer in charge brushed her off, thinking that she was making a big fuss over something
minor. After all, who would kidnap someone in a neighborhood full of passersby?
After recording Skylar's statement lazily, he replied, “It's just a misunderstanding, miss. Don't judge a
book by its cover. Maybe they just want to meet their idol. You celebrities are always acting high and
mighty, making it hard for ordinary people to meet you. They've already said that they just want your
signature.”
Skylar stared at the officer blankly, unable to believe what she just heard.
She slammed the table and stood up. Raising her voice, she asked, “Are you saying that this is my
fault? You are just finding excuses for the creep!”
The officer tapped his fingers on the table, signaling Skylar to sit down. “Don't get so agitated. You can
go back now that your statement is recorded. I'm not biased toward anyone. It's the truth.”
Skylar was furious because the officer chose to ignore the obvious facts. She didn't deserve to be
treated like that just because she was a celebrity.
“Don't tell me you are only going to detain him when he kills me? I told you that they were going to
kidnap me and they said a lot of creepy stuff to me.”
The officer sighed. “Don't get all worked up. You need to have evidence to sue them. There's no sound
recording of what they said to you and the security footage didn't show any conflict happening.”
Skylar felt wronged.
Determined on getting Charles arrested, she instructed Cinque and Lionel to follow him.
Skylar's sixth sense told her someone was behind Charles, or else the police wouldn't be so quick to
defend him and the hooligans.
Charles was released from the station by Avery. Judging from the way he hummed, he was still his
usual self.
After taking a few steps forward, Avery stopped and turned back. “You are really useless! How long has
it been since I asked you to deal with Skylar? Nothing has been accomplished, and yet you have the
guts to ask me to bail you out? How dare you?”
Charles explained, “She usually has bodyguards following her. Today she's alone, but there are so
many passersby. How do you suppose I kidnapped her? I can't even get into the neighborhood she
lives in.”
Avery rolled her eyes at Charles. “I've paid you a lot to do that. If there's still no action, I won't pay you
the rest of what we agreed,” she scolded.
