Anton Brotherhood

Chapter 38 Assassination

Chapter 38 Assassination

Carl hesitated and looked at Jason, “What do you think?” After thinking about it, Jason said to the

guard, “Tell me where Filbert is. Today he is doomed. We are from the Anton Brotherhood. If you tell

me, I will consider letting you in, so you have a chance, or you will die now!”

The guard looked at the two of them and whispered, “Sir, the boss is on the third floor.!”

Jason looked the guard in the eye and asked, “You're not lying?” The guard looked at Jason and

nodded. The eyes would never lie. Jason was satisfied and winked at Carl, who understood it. Carl

smiled at the guard while stabbing him in the throat. They knew very well that this kind of coward man

could never join the Anton Brotherhood and that sparing him would be troublesome…

They waved to their men in the hallway and said to Anton who came over, “Boss, Filbert is on the third

floor. What should we do?”

Anton said, “Kill Filbert and don't let go of the others!”

All his men nodded. Anton left Hamlin on the first floor to await them later. Hamlin was also in charge of

dealing with the enemy in the rooms on the first floor if the enemy noticed them. Hamlin nodded yes.

Anton walked upstairs with Carl and Jason. He felt that there was always a person behind him, so he

turned around and found a beautiful young girl. Anton didn't know her and didn't pay much attention.

The girl was Zara, who was following Jason's orders to guard behind Anton.

Along the way, they got rid of several guards on the stairs and finally reached the third floor. Outside

the second door on the left, Jason whispered, “This is it!” With that, he pulled a pistol out of his pocket.

Anton nodded to his men, and they pulled out their guns. Carl shouted, “Go!” He kicked open the door

and headed in.

After entering the house, they saw a man and a woman lay on the bed. The man sat upwhen hearing

the noise, and he looked a bit similar to Filbert as people heard of. Carl guessed that this person was

Filbert, so he raised his hand to fire the gun twice. The gunshots were like thunder in the silent building,

and the hallways were echoing. The man on the bed did not give out a sound before his skull was

broken into pieces. The woman next to him was so frightened that she shouted. Carl did not pay much

attention to her. Seeing that the man on the bed die, Carl immediately withdrew.

At this time there was a riot in the building. Hearing the gunshots and not knowing what was going on,

members of the Brotherhood walked out of their rooms with sleepy eyes. As soon as they came out,

they were attacked by people who were ambushed outside their doors. Somebody was the first to

shout, “No, it's the enemy!”

Only then did members of the Brotherhood wake up and pick up their arms from the rooms to fight with

members of the Anton Brotherhood. Gunshots and shouts were all over the building, and a huge melee

of hundreds of people began.

Anton wasn't assured, so he shouted to Carl, “Carl, is the person inside Filbert?”

Carl replied as he fought the enemy, “I didn't see him clearly, but I vaguely felt that he should be

Filbert!”

Anton whispered inward, “Idiot!” He pushed open the door and entered the room. Zara followed in. The

sky outside was still dark, so Anton couldn't figure out the bloody body on the bed. He turned on the

light and took from his pocket the photo Stephan sent him to compare it with the corpse on the bed, but

nothing was found. The man's face was bloodstained and deformed.

The woman on the bed had been screaming since Anton came in. Anton was upset and shouted, “Shut

up!”

The woman kept screaming as if she had not heard him. Anton slapped the woman, “Shut up!” The

woman regained her senses after that. She glowered at Anton, gritted her teeth, and said, “You

murderer! You're a beast!”

Seeing the woman's hateful look, Anton felt sad and sighed. Pointing to the corpse on the bed, he

asked, “Was he Filbert?”

“Haha….” The woman laughed hysterically, her hand quietly reaching to get something under the

pillow. “I won't tell you. Even if you kill me, I won't tell you….” As she said, the woman suddenly took

out a pistol from under her pillow, pointed it at Anton, and pulled the trigger.

There was a gunshot. Anton was defenseless and too careless because he did not expect that a

woman in a mental mess could still shoot. He instinctively leaned down. As the woman pulled the

trigger, a flying knife was quickly stabbed into her stomach. The great pain from her stomach made her

hand askew, so the bullet flew past Anton's arm. The woman gritted her teeth and was about to fire a

second shot, but her whole body froze as a sharp knife was thrust into her heart. The person holding

the knife was Zara, who was expressionless.

When the woman reached for under the pillow, Zara saw her small movements although Anton did not

notice. Zara stood behind Anton and silently pulled out a knife in case of an accident. As expected, the

woman took a pistol from under the pillow to shoot Anton, so Zara stabbed her in time.

Anton was stunned for a while before he regained his senses from the pain in his arm. He went up to

touch the woman's neck, and there was no pulse. Anton sighed and turned around to look at Zara.

Zara thought that Anton was going to blame her for not sparing the woman, so she explained, “I saw

that she had a gun in her hand. I didn't want to put you in danger, so….”

Anton smiled gratefully and said, “No, I don't blame you. Thank you for saving my life. I owe you one!”

Then he looked closely at Zara and said, “What's your name?” Seeing that Anton was looking at her in

earnest, Zara felt her heart beating fast. She looked down and said, “I'm Zara!”

“Zara? Well, a good name!” Anton nodded to Zara, then he walked out of the room, still worrying about

the real identity of the person on the bed.

The fight was ongoing outside and had reached a critical moment. The Anton Brotherhood had more

people and had come with full preparation, so the enemy was outnumbered. But the Brotherhood was

not the people they had killed before. Each of them was valiant, belligerent, and resilient. There were

many injured people on the ground. Anton looked at his watch and said aloud, “Hurry up! There are ten

minutes left! Patrick, lead your men to carry the wounded out first!”

Patrick said yes and commanded the Leopard Regime to carry out the injured people of the gang.

Others stepped up their attacks, after all, there was little time left. The Brotherhood gradually failed to

withstand the powerful attack from the Anton Brotherhood, so they retreated. Some were forced to

retreat to their rooms with nowhere to escape. They were stabbed many times and fell onto the ground

with spouting blood. Those who were alive cried out hoarsely. The three floors of the headquarter were

filled with men fighting. Knives, guns, shouting, wailing and a succession of gunshots intertwined.

Blood all over the ground and the people dead or alive made it like hell on earth and full of blood. In the

desperate fight, many people from both parties were killed or injured. Seeing that it was almost time,

Anton waved and shouted, “Everybody, retreat!”

Hearing him, men of the Anton Brotherhood moved towards the stairs one after another. Noticing that

everyone was back with the injury on their backs, Anton nodded to Jason, then he took everyone

downstairs. The people of the Brotherhood on the first floor were cleaned up by Hamlin, so they were

not stopped and ran straight out of the headquarter of the Brotherhood.

Seeing the enemy escape, the Brotherhood wouldn't let them go, so the scattered men began to gather

slowly in the corridor and charged to the stairs. Anton was ready for this and especially left Jason

behind. Seeing the number of people in the corridor, Jason put his fingers in his mouth to blow a sharp

whistle. Members on the second and third floors could hear it clearly, so each took a grenade from their

pockets, pulled the fuse off, and threw it into the crowd in the hallway.

Whether the enemy was killed or not, after throwing the grenades, they ran to the exit immediately.

“Boom—” several continuous great waves left the whole building in a slight vibration. Members of the

Ghost Regime ran out of the building led by Jason and looked back. The building was full of smoke

coming out of the windows, and they could hear vague howling inside.

Jasper looked at the building dazed, murmuring, “Damn it, the grenade is the king!”

Bruce pulled Jasper's clothes, “Stop missing it. We'll be missed if we meet the backbone of the

Brotherhood later!” With that, he pulled Jasper away!

They followed Anton back to the parking area and told everyone to go by different routes to the North

Hotel. They nodded and each got into a car and went away. Anton sat in the passenger seat and took a

long breath. Then he saw Zara behind him. He wondered when she came there and why she had been

following him. Still, he looked back and smiled at her. “Thank you for what happened before!”

“This is what I should have done! You've thanked me twice!” Zara said expressionlessly. After that, she

turned around and looked out of the car.

Hearing her, Anton was slightly stunned. He felt strange because among the Mafia in J City, let alone in

the Anton Brotherhood, no one dared talk to him like that! And she was only a young girl in his gang.

Watching Zara, Anton shook his head and stopped talking. He said to himself that this girl was really

interesting!

Police cars kept coming along the way, and from time to time police stopped cars to check their Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

identities. Looking into the car and seeing Anton inside, the police dared not say anything and hurriedly

let them go. People sometimes said that the police and bandits were a family, which sounded a bit

excessive, but there's no smoke without fire!

People of the Brotherhood first received the call for help from the headquarter, so they were one step

ahead of the police. Inside the building was a mess with injured people everywhere. Most of the 200

best men in the gang were either killed or wounded and lost their combat effectiveness. The boss

Filbert was seriously injured from the blast, and Filbert's elder brother Abbott Green was shot and

killed. The Brotherhood suffered great losses this time and was kicked into the bottomless abyss.

Although both parties had losses, the loss of the Anton Brotherhood was much smaller. After all, the

attacking side had an advantage. In the Anton Brotherhood, over 10 died, 20 were seriously injured

and no less than 50 suffered minor injuries. But that was much less than the Brotherhood. Of course,

such casualties would be another cost for the Anton Brotherhood.

This big fight caused a stir in the whole province, especially among J City citizens who were frightened

by the recent several large-scale fights in the Mafia. They jointly reported to the J City council.

However, Youth Gang had strong relations with the municipal party committee, so they could easily

press down the matter by pulling a few strings. Although the municipal committee did not investigate,

some stubborn citizens ran to the capital H City and directly reported the corruption of J City's

municipal party committee and the rampant Mafia to the provincial committee. Even provincial radio

stations and daily newspapers had reported on the matter. Although the provincial party committee

intended to cover it, they saw the seriousness of the situation. So, an investigation team was

dispatched to make a major inspection of J City's municipal leadership to relieve the outside pressure.

In response, the municipal party committee of J City would also have a big change.
