EPISODE TWENTY
THEME: The abused mate
(Avery’s Point Of View)
I turned away from him and went to Freddie. “You should leave now.” I breathed out.
“No Avery.. are you sure that you’ll be fine with him?” Freddie said in a low tone.
A snort came from Kayden. I nodded my head repeatedly as I wiped the single tear that had strayed down my cheeks.
“Yes.. I’ll just have a chat with Kayden. Everything will be fine.” I replied.
“Okay but call me if anything goes wrong.” Freddie mumbled before he walked away from me. He was almost close to Kayden who walked passed him in an attempt to storm off to the bedroom but only after making his shoulder hit Freddie’s own.
“I didn’t expect you to act this way. And this jealous act won’t get you anywhere with Avery.” Freddie turned to look at me.
Kayden stopped walking but he didn’t turn to face Freddie but I could see him clenched his fist.
“Avery already explained things to me. And out of my friendly act, I only waited for you to reassure you that there is absolutely nothing going on between us.” He said.
“Freddie, there is no need to say anything. I’ll sort-”
He interrupted me. A deep frown formed on his face. “No, he should know that you haven’t been cheating on him with me. He should know how much you love him. Your relationship is about to lead to a life time affair and he doesn’t even trust you. Are you sure you want to go down this road with someone who doesn’t even believe every word you say?” Freddie looked straight at me.
My head dropped down in disappointment. And before I could stop what was about to happen, Kayden charged towards Freddie and soon he had him pinned against the nearest wall.
“Kayden! No.. Kayden! You can’t hurt him!” I screamed but before I could get to them, Kayden punched Freddie a few times and threw him against another part of the spacious sitting room.
“Freddie!” I screamed and rushed towards him.
Freddie groaned in pains as I could see blood tickling from the side of his head. I heard Kayden’s footsteps behind me again and I stood up quickly. He was close to shifting into his Predator form. If I don’t stop him then Kayden would kill Freddie. I won’t let it happen even if I have to fight with my last breathe.
“Kayden.. please…” I ran towards him and hugged him. His body reeks of alcohol that almost choked me. “Just.. let him go.. he doesn’t mean any.. harm. He is just a human.. so please…” I pleaded as tears flowed down my cheeks uncontrollably.
Kayden growled as he tried to push me off but I held onto him tightly.
“Leave Freddie! Please leave! Now.. just go please!” I cried out.
“Avery-”
“I’ll be fine! Please run! I beg you! Your mom needs you by her side!” I pleaded with Freddie to leave.Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
“Damn it!” Freddie uttered profanities as he scurried out of my apartment, slamming the door in the process.
Kayden pushed me away with full force and I ended up falling with my right arm hitting the ground that was meant to support my weight. I screamed out due to the pain I felt in my arm. And I knew I had either sprained it or broken a bone in my arm.
“That bastard! I should have killed him!” Kayden hissed out.
“Freddie… didn’t do.. anything wrong.” I tried to sit up but couldn’t raise my right arm to support myself up causing me to wince in pain the more I tried.
He charged toward me, grabbed my clothes and pulled me up to my feet. “Are you defending him?!” He gritted.
The look in his eyes scared the hell out of me and even my wolf was terrified. Is this my mate?
“No.. no.. I am not-” my words were cut short by him placing his lips on mine. The kiss was an aggressive one which didn’t sit well with me. One of his hand started down to raised my gown up as he tried to touch the most sensitive part of my body.
“You have been busy fucking around with him right?! Then you should do the same with me as your mate!” He bit my lower lip hard as he caged me to his body.
I struggled and tried to resist him but his hold was too tight on me. “Kayden.. please.. don’t do this…” He tried to pull at my panties and touch my center but I didn’t let my legs spread apart so he could have his way.
“Just listen to me!” I screamed out and used my left arm to make a hit on his chest.
Kayden pushed me away and I fell to the ground again. “You liar! Cheater! Whore!” He gritted his teeth in anger.
His words broke my heart. I began to wonder if he was acting under the influence of alcohol or Kayden has always been this way whenever he is angry. He came to me again while I tried to crawl away but he grabbed my hair.
I screamed out. “Kayden.. please stop.. you are hurting me!” I cried out when he pulled more at my hair.
My scalp burned and the pain in my arm doubled when a slap landed on my face again. He tried to throw a lethal kick at my stomach but I curled up my knees to protect that part of my body.
My mate just hit me? I couldn’t believe it. Maybe I had fallen into trance while waiting for him with Freddie. I waited for reality to bring me out of this state but nothing happened. It was real – my mate just laid his hands on me. I tasted blood in my mouth and when I spat it out I saw clothed red color on the wooden floor.
The realization of my mate hitting me automatically made me weak. And I didn’t make an attempt to get up for a few minutes. My whole body was numb and all I just did was cry on the floor.
My wolf was extremely silent, I tried to call out to her to save me but she withdrew far away to the back of my mind. Obviously she was disappointed in our mate.
His big form hovered above me. “Kayden.. I never.. cheated on you. I never… cheated on you. I.. didn’t do it. I swear to the moon goddess.” I paused.
Wolves aren’t permitted to swear out loud to the one we respect the most in our world. But swearing to the moon goddess was the only option I had to make my mate believe me.
Kayden hissed and then walked off not to the bedroom but kitchen. I tried to think of what he might have gone there to do. Grab a knife to kill me?
I managed to get up to my feet holding my right arm as I walked to the couch and grabbed my phone. I should at least call for help. Someone needed to know that my mate wanted me dead.
My breathe caught in my throat when I heard his footsteps again but when I turned towards him, Kayden had a bowl and towel in his hand.
“Avery-” I heard my name and no other words came after it.
He wanted to clean me up after what he has done?! My mate has gone crazy! And I don’t want to believe that I deserve this treatment from my mate because I didn’t tell Freddie I have a man in my life. Maybe if I had made things clear to Freddie earlier than this then a misconception from Kayden wouldn’t have happened.
“Avery.. wait-” he tried to block my pathway but I shoved him aside with my other arm.
“I want to be alone.” I mumbled.
I walked back to the room, shut the door and slowly slipped to the ground as I cried my eyes out for hours. Few minutes later, I heard a soft knock on the door.
“Avery, please don’t hurt yourself. I am sorry… I didn’t mean to hurt you.” Kayden pleaded.
This man behind this closed door sounded so much like the loving mate I have known for two years but he already hurt me and my wolf badly.
“Avery.. please.. come out. You can hit me all you want.. but please don’t hurt yourself.” Kayden said.
I didn’t want to hear his voice. So I stood up, walked into the bathroom and then shut the door. I didn’t look like the lady named Avery Lance. My reflection in the mirror depicted an image of a human woman who just suffered an abuse from her husband to be. I opened the top attached to the sink and winced in pain when I poured water into my mouth to wash out the blood.
I managed to slip out of my outfit to have a quick shower. I couldn’t make use to my right arm properly because each time I tried, I could feel pains in there. After taking a shower, I opted in for a transparent night gown, the easiest one I could wear without having to stress my right arm. I slept on the bed and covered myself with that bed covers that was warm and it seemed to be the only thing that could comfort me at that moment.
And I cried myself to sleep throughout the night and I didn’t know when I drifted off to sleep.
