Alpha Kilian furrowed his brows tightly, his alpha instincts buzzing with suspicion. His werewolf senses told him that there was more to this situation than met the eye. If there wasn’t a grudge, then how could someone hate another person so intensely? If Dave wasn’t the culprit, then Kilian knew that he had missed something crucial. However, for now, Dave remained their prime target.
“Fabian, delve into Dave’s family background and social connections. I want every detail, no matter how small,” Kilian commanded, his tone laced with authority.
Fabian nodded, his eyes filled with determination. “Okay, I’ll gather all the information once I get back.”
“And make sure to send the surveillance footage to the police,” Kilian added, his voice firm with purpose.
Fabian nodded again, acknowledging his alpha’s instructions. “Understood. Alpha Morris, do you think we should assign a few guards to protect Ms. Jackson at the hospital? The person who wishes to harm her seems like a ticking time bomb. We have no idea when they’ll strike again.”
Kilian raised an eyebrow, contemplating Fabian’s suggestion. “Do you think that person would dare to show up if they see such a heavily guarded scene?”
“Then…”
Kilian interrupted, his voice resolute. “I’ll personally watch over her at the hospital. You will do as I ordered.” Kilian was unwilling to leave Nelly’s safety in the hands of others. As the alpha, it was his duty to protect his pack.
Seeing that Kilian had risen from his seat, Fabian quickly followed suit. “Alpha Morris, what about the company?”
Kilian glanced at Fabian before rolling down the car window. His gaze held a commanding authority. “You should return to the company.”
“But aren’t you going back? The shareholders will berate me if you don’t show up,” Fabian pleaded, his face filled with a mixture of frustration and apprehension.
“If anyone dares to cause a ruckus, buy their share,” Kilian replied, his tone leaving no room for argument.
A glimmer of hope lit up Fabian’s eyes at Kilian’s words. “W-What’s the limit, Alpha Morris?”
Kilian smirked, his voice infused with power. “That depends on your abilities.”
As if receiving a noble insignia, Fabian’s aggrieved expression transformed into a smug grin. “Don’t worry, Alpha Morris. Leave the matters in the company to me. You can focus on taking care of Ms. Jackson. I won’t let the shareholders bother you.”
Satisfied with Fabian’s determination, Kilian nodded and lifted the car window before swiftly driving off, leaving a small whirlwind in his wake.
Fabian stood in the desolate surroundings, realizing that there wasn’t a single taxi in sight. Panic gripped him as he realized his predicament, prompting him to run after Kilian’s departing car. “Wait for me, Alpha Morris! I can’t find a taxi here! Please, give me a ride, even if it’s just a short one-”
Before Kilian headed to the hospital, he made a brief stop at the Morris residence. As he entered, he noticed construction workers bustling in and out of the castle. Intrigued, he strode further inside.
Alpha King Larry glanced up from a blueprint, engaged in a discussion with Dan in the living room. Kilian’s presence didn’t seem to register with the older alpha.
“Grandpa, what’s happening?” Kilian inquired, a hint of confusion evident in his voice.
Alpha King Larry glanced briefly at Kilian before returning his attention to the blueprint. “Would it be better if we added an extra table here?”
Dan, on the other hand, greeted Kilian warmly. “Mr. Alpha Kilian, welcome back!”
Curiosity piqued, Kilian directed his question at Alpha King Larry. “Grandpa, what’s going on?”
Alpha King Larry let out a frustrated sigh before finally acknowledging Kilian’s presence. “We’re renovating the two rooms upstairs for Ms. Donna and Mr. Ben.”
Kilian was taken aback, struggling for words. He could sense that Alpha King Larry held a fondness for Donna and Ben, but he hadn’t expected renovations to be considered so soon after their short stay at the Morris residence.
“Are you sure Nelly will allow you to bring them back again?” Kilian couldn’t help but voice his skepticism.
Alpha King Larry’s anger flared at Kilian’s question. “Whose fault do you think this is, Kilian? I’m not forcing you to marry or have children, but you better not upset Nelly! If she doesn’t let me see Donna and Ben, I’ll sever all ties with you!”
Kilian raised an eyebrow, frustration simmering beneath his calm demeanor. “Do you think you need to force me to have children? Isn’t two enough?”
Alpha King Larry’s temper flared, his voice seething with anger. “They have nothing to do with you!”
Kilian’s voice dripped with sarcasm as he retorted, “Well, you’re truly a generous soul, treating someone else’s children so well.”
“Mind your own business!”
Taking a step closer, Kilian reached out and snatched the blueprint from Alpha King Larry’s hands. He glanced at it briefly, noting the princess-themed decorations in one room and the technology-filled decor of the other. It was evident that Alpha King Larry wanted to create a luxurious and loving environment for Donna and Ben.
A small smile tugged at Kilian’s lips as he spoke. “The rooms are beautiful. I’m sure they’ll love it.”
Alpha King Larry swiftly snatched the blueprint back, shooing Kilian away. “Enough distractions. Leave me be.”
Ignoring Alpha King Larry’s dismissive tone, Kilian turned and walked upstairs.
However, just as Kilian started ascending, Alpha King Larry halted him with a sudden realization. “Wait-” Alpha King Larry hesitated, momentarily forgetting Lara’s name.
Kilian narrowed his eyes, sensing Alpha King Larry’s hesitation. “Is there something else?”Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
Alpha King Larry let out a breath of relief before addressing his concern. “Your relationship with, um, her. What is it?”
Kilian’s eyes hardened, his voice cold. “There’s nothing between us. I’ve already made that clear. We’re just friends.”
Alpha King Larry seemed oddly relieved, his tense demeanor easing. “You should make your intentions clear if you’re not interested in her. Don’t lead her on.”
“I already have.”
“You have?”
“Yes, I’ve been very upfront.”
Alpha King Larry hesitated before finally nodding. “Alright. I’ll leave it to you then. Just… do what you want.”
Kilian nodded in understanding and continued his ascent up the stairs.
Dan, who had been observing the interaction, spoke up. “Mr. Alpha Kilian, Alpha King Larry has moved all your belongings to the outermost room. Everything’s in disarray. We haven’t had a chance to tidy up yet…”
As Kilian entered the room, he noticed the chaotic mess. All his clothes and belongings were piled up, making it impossible to find a spot to stand.
A slight crease formed on his usually composed face, yet a gentle smile tugged at his lips. He imagined that when Donna and Ben moved in, he might not even have a place for himself. But despite that, the thought of them brought an unfamiliar warmth to his heart.
After changing into a fresh set of clothes, Kilian made his way to the hospital.
By the time he arrived, night had fallen.
During the journey, he received a voice message on WhatsApp from Donna: “Mr. Handsome, Great-grandpa brought us back. Nelly is alone in her ward. Will you help me watch over her tonight?”
Donna’s innocent message filled him with a mixture of warmth and worry. His chest tightened at the thought of Nelly being alone in the hospital, prompting him to quicken his pace.
Reaching the entrance to Nelly’s ward, he overheard voices resonating from within. A surge of protectiveness coursed through his veins, urging him to push the door open without hesitation.
