A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 306 Reluctance to Part

“Why are you here?”

Shouldn’t this person be taking care of Shannon in the hospital? Ranita stared at him, her mind a bit confused. The next second, Jedidiah grabbed her wrist and pulled her over.

Jedidiah frowned and looked at Brendon with an unfriendly expression. “Sir, please let go of your hand!” After a pause, Jedidiah remembered who the person in front of him was and narrowed his eyes. “Oh, it’s Mr. Stuart!”

Brendon didn’t let go; instead he tightened his grip on Ranita’s hand and looked coldly at Jedidiah. “And who might you be?”

“Jedidiah Bowman!” Jedidiah was extremely unhappy about the situation. “Mr. Stuart, please release my sister! There should be no physical contact between men and women.”

Brendon was also very unhappy; he coldly looked at Jedidiah before turning to Chole, “Mr. Bowman, why not deal with the current troubles first? I’ve known Ranita for many years, and our relationship runs deep. I’ll take her home first.”

“No need…” For some reason unknown to herself, Jedidah felt an intense hostility towards Brendon.

Especially when Brendon rushed over to hug her while grabbing her hand… Jedidia wanted nothing more than to put a bag over his head and beat him up!Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

“Brother! You go rest with Chole first; I’ll leave now!” After pausing for a moment, Ranita added, “If there is anything important, just call me.”

Ranita wanted to leave quickly.

On one hand she feared that there would be conflict between Jediahia and Brenden , and on the other she worried about Chole being such trouble.

Brenden pulled Ranita into the car as soon as possible, and once inside, the door closed behind them. Ranita’s shoulders were pressed down by the man as he spoke slowly like knives, “Is it Jediahia? Is it him?”

Ranita felt herself trembling fiercely inside.

“It’s not,” she replied without looking up.

“Not him?” Brenden lightly held onto her neck with his fingers sliding across her skin and landing on her side face, his fingers pinching her earlobe. “You can’t even tell lies now?”

“It really isn’t,”Ranita said denying it, but waves of emotion were rising within her heart.

The more Rantia denied, Brenden felt more certain that she was lying. Brenden felt chilled to the bone inside.

“Brenden, I appreciate what you did earlier,” she paused, pulling away from him, “I’m feeling tired now and want to rest.”

Just when Rantia thought she had escaped, Brendon suddenly leaned forward, his leg pressing against her so that she couldn’t move. “Come back home with me!”

“I don’t need your help, I can go back on my own,” Ranita said, pausing for a moment before continuing. “I’m staying at Dylan’s place now, not going back to the apartment.”

“Not going back?”

“That’s right! If you want to stay there, go ahead. If not, take your things and go home,” Ranita said coldly.

Was she so eager to leave him? Brendon felt a spark ignite in his heart like a burst of fireworks and smoke. He grabbed her waist and forced her onto his lap, pressing his lips against her jawline as he gritted his teeth.

“Ranita!”

Ranita shuddered at the touch.

Brendon would never know that every time he got close to her, it was an enormous test for her. She bit her lip in pain to remind herself to stay alert.

“Brendon, let me go!”

Brendon didn’t say anything; his tense body felt like iron pressed against hers as he squeezed her waist with warm fingers that seemed ready to crush her into pieces.

Brendon didn’t want this! Ranita could feel his emotions clearly. She couldn’t bear the way they were constantly pulling each other apart without being able to commit fully as lovers or spouses. How much longer would this continue?
