Chapter 295 A Thorn
“Your brother… did something good!” Brendon said as he approached her, taking her luggage from her.
Ranita held onto his hand.
“Brendon… you should have seen the note I left for you,” Ranita pursed her lips. “The divorce application is still valid.”
Brendon looked at her intently.
“Ranita, we need to talk.”
“Fine! Say what you want to say,” Ranita lifted her gaze to meet his, with a cold and distant expression in her eyes.
In the past, she had hoped that Brendon would stand by her side. But now, she had no hope left and didn’t want anything more from him.
Shannon and that child were like thorns in her heart. Even if they were removed, the wound remained.
Ranita couldn’t let go of it all.
“Ranita… I must apologize to you. I made a mistake. No matter how much I say, it won’t make up for it. But I don’t want a divorce with you.”
“And then? What are you going to do about that child?” Ranita was calm as if she was an outsider looking in on the situation.
“I will handle it properly,” Brendon paused and his demeanor turned cold as he spoke again. “I hope you can give me another chance.”
“How are you going to handle it? What if Shannon doesn’t agree?” Ranita laughed gently after pausing, “She’s not weak like me; she has the Murphy family behind her and your mother too.”
And even Brendon’s feelings towards Shannon added up against any chance of victory for Ranita. If there were things one couldn’t achieve, then there was no point making things difficult for oneself.
Now Ranita had figured everything out clearly.
“Shannon is not unreasonable; I will talk to her properly and compensate accordingly,” Brendon’s voice was low as he felt uneasy inside knowing that what worried Ranita was not unfounded.
“… ring ring!” Suddenly, Brendon’s phone rang.
He glanced at it before declining the call.
“Miss Murphy calling? You should answer just in case there really is an emergency right? After all, she’s delicate carrying around such precious cargo…”
Ranita couldn’t express how she felt inside.
After reaching extreme pain, one could feel nothing anymore…
“Ranita…” The phone which Brendon gripped tightly began ringing again, this time Caleb was calling him.
“Caleb…what’s up?” He pressed accept.
“Mr. Stuart, Boulderland Mansion just contacted me and said that Miss Murphy wasn’t feeling well and went to the hospital,” Caleb hesitated before saying, “Your mother couldn’t reach you, so she called me instead.”
“Madam wants you to go to the hospital as soon as possible because it concerns Miss Murphy’s unborn child. She insists that you go.” Caleb was at his wit’s end; he was just a working man and didn’t want any part in this!
Moreover, if he were being honest with himself, he leaned more towards Ranita.
“I understand,” Brendon hung up the phone with a less than pleasant tone. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.
Ranita sat on the couch listening but not quite catching everything. However, she knew it had something to do with Shannon.
“You should go,” she said.
“Ranita… Shannon isn’t feeling well at the hospital; I’m going to check on her,” Brendon saw this as an opportunity to talk things out with Shannon too.
“Just wait for me at home.”
Ranita didn’t say anything but watched him leave. As soon as Brendon left, Ranita grabbed her suitcase and left too. This time she didn’t go back to the hotel; instead, she called Dylan and borrowed a house he rarely used.
Ranita had planned on meeting up with Shannon for lunch earlier in the day but now that Shannon was weak in a hospital bed, there would be no chance of seeing her anytime soon.
