A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 259 Citrus Flavor

Shannon stormed into the opposite villa, crying out as she threw herself onto Carlee, “Carlee!”

Carlee had always liked Shannon and doted on her. Seeing her cry, she immediately asked with concern, “What’s wrong? Who made you angry? Tell me everything and I’ll help you.”

“Really?” Shannon bit her lip and grabbed Carlee’s hand. “Then please help me…”

Ranita touched the brocade box, feeling a little embarrassed as she said, “I’m sorry for letting you see what happened earlier.”

“I know Shannon’s personality,” Chris smiled and suddenly said, “Sorry for not telling you earlier.”

“In fact, Kora is my aunt. She really did intend to give up that necklace. I just didn’t tell you because I was afraid it would make you feel uncomfortable,” Chris explained before adding. “My aunt originally planned to sell it to you at cost because she considers you a friend and doesn’t want to profit from your money.”

Kora was a lovely person.

Ranita really liked her. “Thank Kora for me. We still need to settle accounts! How can 3 million now be compared with 3 million ten years ago! And thank you too.”

Chris received his good karma card but pursed his lips.NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.

“Where are we going this afternoon? Can I take you there?” he asked before Ranita’s phone rang – Brendon calling.

“Hello!”

“You need to come back to the company. HR has arranged an interview with someone who will replace your position. You should be present,” Brendon spoke in a cold tone when he worked.

Ranita was about to leave Stuart’s Corp soon so choosing a replacement candidate was necessary. She nodded, “Okay, what time?”

“One hour later,” Brendon replied then asked, “Where are you now?”

“I’m near Wilwards Villa Area,” Ranita paused then continued. “I’ll go over there now so maybe half an hour later.”

Brendon fell silent for several seconds before asking, “Aren’t you discussing business with Chris? Why did you go to Wilwards Villa Area?” He paused again then added, “I’ll have my driver pick you up.”

“No need, Mr. Webster is giving me a ride. I’ll be there soon. Gotta go.” Ranita hung up the phone, but before she could speak, Chris smiled and said, “Are you going to Stuart’s Corp? I’ll drive you there.”

As they got off the car, Chris reminded her casually, “This weekend is my grandpa’s birthday banquet. Don’t forget come together with Brendon.”

When Ranita arrived at the office, Brendon was hunched over his desk, poring over documents with a serious and solemn expression. They say that men who work diligently are the most attractive, and Brendon was no exception.

Sometimes Ranita would reflect on whether she was too shallow for being so devoted to this face.

“Busy?” Ranita knocked on the door. “Can I come in?”

“Come in. Have a seat first.” Brendon glanced at her and gestured towards the couch before returning to his files. He worked much faster now, signing papers with swift strokes.

Ranita noticed a takeout box on his desk that hadn’t been opened yet.

“Haven’t you had lunch yet?”

“Mm… too busy… been in meetings all morning. Just finished up some paperwork.” Brendon replied nonchalantly as he walked over to sit beside her. “Keep me company while I eat.”

Ranita touched the takeout box which had already gone cold.

“It’s gotten cold… let me microwave it for you while you drink some water.”

There was a microwave in the pantry, so Ranita put the food inside and turned around only to bump into Brendon who had followed her there.

“Why did you follow me here?”

Brendon stood next to her so close that he almost pressed against her back. He caught a whiff of faint citrus perfume from her body which made him feel extremely happy.
