A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 253 Will Dare Next Time

Ranita was tidying up her room, sweating as she threw the sheets into the washing machine. Caleb arrived with some files and takeout just in time to meet her.

“Miss Bowman, how have you been lately?” Caleb greeted Ranita.

“I’m doing well, thank you Caleb,” Ranita replied politely.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

“No problem at all. You and Mr. Stuart should eat first while I put these files in the study,” said Caleb, who had been here several times before and knew his way around well enough to leave without a fuss.

The atmosphere at the dining table was awkward. Ranita chewed on a piece of chicken with an annoyed expression while Brendon ate elegantly but quickly with satisfied eyes.

“Are you still mad?” Brendon offered to serve Ranita some food but she blocked him off with her fork saying “No thanks, I’ll do it myself.”

Brendon’s lips curved into a smile. Angry Ranita was much cuter than before.

“Are you really angry? I apologize sincerely,” he said apologetically.

“Hmph! What did you do wrong?” Ranita didn’t even want to think about it anymore; she just didn’t want Brendon rolling around on their bed soaking wet again like last time!

“Don’t worry. It’ll be dry soon enough. Don’t be mad!” Brendon served her some mushrooms saying, “I won’t do it again next time.”

Men’s words are unreliable! There wasn’t even a hint of apology on Brendon’s face. Instead, there were five big words that read “I dare do it again.”

Ranita gritted her teeth and hummed in response.

Brendon served her another vegetable dish asking, “What did Chris say to you?”

“I’m not telling!” She pouted angrily, ignoring him completely.

Brendon moved closer and lightly bumped his leg against hers under the table.

Ranita shifted away slightly.

Brendon moved closer again swaying his legs against hers under the table like kids playing games.

How childish!

But surprisingly this kind of interaction made Ranita feel happy inside – something that would never have happened before between them – small happiness can make one bubble over with joy sometimes!

She bit down hard on the vegetables that Brenden had given, her cheeks bulging out as she spoke, “It’s nothing really… tomorrow afternoon we’re going for… business talks.”

Buying things could also count as business, right?!

“Why are you taking private work when haven’t officially left Stuart Corp yet? And besides Kurima is so big why must help him…” complained Brendon feeling frustrated by this news from Ranita.

“There’s money to be made, whose money isn’t worth making?” Ranita said as Brendon hooked his arm around her shoulder and gazed deeply into her eyes. “Ranita, do you want me to kiss you?”

“What are you saying?” Ranita blushed and gave him a sideways glance.

Brendon squeezed her waist with one hand and lowered his voice to hum in her ear. “Then why not dare it?”

Ranita remembered their recent intimacy in bed.

When this man was unreasonable, he could be really domineering. If she really opposed him, she would probably provoke him.

After spending a few years with Brendon, Ranita knew how to go along with him the best.

“It hurts so much! Don’t pinch my flesh!” Pausing for a moment, Ranita turned away from his face. “I only go to talk business with Mr. Webster. We don’t have any other close relationship. Please stop being ridiculous.”

“He wants to pursue you,” Brendon sneered.

“Don’t talk nonsense!” Ranita hit him in anger. “Mr. Webster is not that bored.”

Brendon’s joke had gone too far; she was Brendon’s wife after all, and Chris was just his friend – how could he possibly pursue her?

Brendon bared his teeth and pinched her fingers tightly, “Then why did he send flowers for you?”

“I didn’t know your relationships were so good with everyone!” The sarcastic tone made Ranita want to hit him again.
