A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 228 Two Days and Two Nights

The sun and moon revolved.

The car drove for a day and night before stopping.

These people were smart, taking breaks every three to four hours to eat and rest, bringing Ranita some food. But to prevent her from constantly going to the bathroom, they strictly controlled her water intake.

Ranita’s lips had become dry and painful.

After stopping for the night, they switched to a high chassis off-road vehicle that plunged into the mountains.

Ranita grew up in Steland but had stayed in Kurima. She volunteered during college but only around Kurima; she had never seen so many mountains before.

Along the winding mountain road, the car was like a small black dot amidst it all. The road was rough and bumpy; Ranita felt sick several times along the way.

It was dark again.

Finally stopping, when they pulled Ranita out of the car, she fainted without catching her breath first.

Two days and nights passed.

Ranita seemed as if she evaporated from this world.

Brendon had already called the police; Mia was found too. She was last seen with Ranita so she became a prime suspect.

“Mr. Stuart, it really wasn’t me! I don’t know where Ranita went either! And I’m just as worried about her!” Mia cried while covering her face.

Brendon hadn’t rested well for two days straight; his temples throbbed painfully while he listened to Mia’s crying voice which made him even more irritable.

“Mia, are you really clueless?”

“I truly have no idea!” Mia continued crying.

Just then Shannon knocked on their door carrying a thermos box of food. “Brendon, I brought you some food.”

“Shannon, I’m busy right now, you can go back.” Brendon’s mind was filled with thoughts of Ranita yet Shannon insisted on coming over herself, she poured him soup then pouted, “Brendon, you haven’t been resting properly these past few days. Your family is very worried about you.”

“This is soup that I personally made. Would you like some?” After pausing briefly, Shannon said softly, “If you keep going like this, your health will suffer. I’ll be very worried too.”Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Shannon saw Mia yesterday, and now seeing her again made her uncomfortable, “Miss Griffiths is one friend of Ranita’s, right? I heard they used to work together at a studio. If Miss Griffiths knew anything, she would definitely say something. Brendon, don’t make things difficult for Miss Griffiths.”

“I see that Miss Griffiths is upset. You should let her go home and rest.”

Brendon’s gaze remained fixed on Mia, and seeing her tears, he knew she was genuine. “Miss Griffiths, you can go home now,” he said.

Mia felt like she had been granted a reprieve and quickly gathered her things before leaving.

As soon as she was gone, Brendon sent a message to Caleb asking him to have someone follow Mia and check out her background.

“Shannon, put your things down. You can go home too,” Brendon lowered his voice. “Go.”

Shannon bit her lip, her voice sounding plaintive, “Brendon… Are you trying to drive me away? I’m so worried about you. While you’re tirelessly searching for Ranita, constantly preoccupied with her, what about me? You’re sleepless and restless. Seeing you like this, my heart feels like it’s breaking too.”

“Just think about what’s best for me. Can you please go home today?”

Ranita had disappeared, and Shannon was almost ready to celebrate if it meant that nothing would stand in the way of being with Brendon.

But Brendon was acting like a madman trying to find Ranita.

Shannon sniffled back tears as she spoke in a choked voice. “Ranita is an adult; if someone took her off the street surely someone would have seen something by now? Maybe she wanted to disappear on purpose!”

This statement cut deep into Shannon’s heart.
