A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 222 Is There Any Extra Credit?

“You don’t have to worry about it. We’re all adults, and if I can’t catch up with you, I’ll know when to back off.” With a few words, Vincent eased the awkwardness.

Ranita thought that Vincent was very insightful.

He was truly a wonderful person.

“Vincent, you’re really well-traveled,” Ranita laughed and gave him a thumbs up.

“Does that earn me extra credit?” Vincent asked.

Ranita continued to smile and joked, “It does.”

“Well then!”

As they chatted, they arrived at the faculty dormitory. The professor was surprised to see them together at his door. “Weren’t you guys going out for dinner? Why are you here?”Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

“After dinner we wanted to come see you. We didn’t disturb you did we?” Vincent spoke gently.

“No no! Come on in! It’s quite coincidental actually. Mia is here too! You young people can chat.”

Ranita raised an eyebrow. Mia?

Following the professor inside, Ranita saw Mia whom she hadn’t seen in several days. She greeted Ranita with enthusiasm, “Ranita!”

“And who is this?”

The professor quickly introduced them but Vincent wasn’t particularly warm towards Mia and after greeting her, he accompanied the professor for tea instead of joining their conversation.

Vincent knew about Ranita’s plan of opening a studio with Mia before but now that she had stopped doing it. He wanted to ask why but since they were in front of the professor, he refrained from asking further questions.

The three casually chatted for a while without bringing up anything between Ranita and Mia while in front of the professor.

Halfway through their conversation, Brendon called Ranita on her phone, “Ranita, are you still not home yet?” Brendon’s voice sounded displeased over the phone line, “Where have you been?”

“I went out for dinner with friends. I’ll be home later,” replied Ranita as Brendon grunted, “With who?”

“You don’t know them…” said Ranita trailing off as Brendon interrupted her, “Are you seriously going on blind dates now? Don’t forget that technically speaking – you’re married!”

His tone turned cold as his mood worsened, “Do you even realize what kind of situation this puts us both into?”

Lowering her voice, Ranita replied, “We just had dinner together, it wasn’t anything dirty like what your mind seems to be thinking right now. I’m currently at my Professor’s house, I’ll talk more when I get home.”

After hanging up, Ranita seemed distracted. Vincent noticed this immediately so he bid farewell along with Professor. They walked down campus road.

Mia asked some questions excitedly, and Vincent politely answered, but his attitude remained indifferent, and kept looking at Ranita instead.

“Your face doesn’t look too good. Do you need me to take you home?” Vincent asked.

Ranita shook her head and said, “Thank you, but I can go home by myself. You guys be safe.”

She stood at the door for a moment.

Sometimes she found it funny that this was supposed to be her home, yet it felt like Brendon’s territory.

She opened the door and went in.

Only one light was on in the apartment; it was quiet as could be.

In the study, there was the sound of someone typing on a computer. Ranita washed her hands and made him a cup of coffee.

“Here,” she placed it on his desk. Brendon looked up and motioned for her to come over.

Ranita didn’t move; she pursed her lips and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Brendon took off his headphones and strode over with long legs until he pushed both of her hands behind the door. He leaned down close to her ear with hot breaths tickling against it as if confirming something before asking lowly, “Did you really go on a blind date?”

“No, I just had dinner.”

Being so close made Ranita’s heart race wildly up and down while sweat broke out all over her back.
