Chapter 197 A Couple
The waves rhythmically rolled onto the sandy beach, and under the sunlight, silver foam sparkled like fish scales. A couple, leaving four sets of footprints, walked slowly along the shoreline.
Although Ranita and Brendon had lived together for several years, most of their time was spent working or at the Boulderland Mansion. If there were business trips, after finishing work, they were too tired to do anything but rest. Moments like this, walking side by side, felt like a dream.
Ranita slowed down slightly while gazing at Brendon’s shoulder uncontrollably.
“Ranita…” Suddenly stopping mid-stride Brennon looked down at her from above.
“Hmm?” Ranita’s heart skipped a beat, thinking he had caught onto her little scheme. She waved her hands, “I wasn’t spying on you!”
Brendon paused for a moment.
“Ha ha!” He grinned and teased, “Oh… so you were spying on me?”
His teasing tone made Ranita blush.
She lifted her foot and lightly kicked his leg, “Who was spying on you? Don’t be so presumptuous!”
Her annoyed yet playful demeanor showed off her inner childlike nature.
Ranita used to be too calm and collected in the past. As a young girl of twenty-something years old, she had already become a composed member of society without any vitality or energy left in her.
Brendon swallowed hard.
He furrowed his eyebrows and pretended to bend over in pain, “Ouch! That really hurt!”
“You’re faking it! I didn’t even use much force.” Ranita faced Brendon but couldn’t bring herself to hurt him; she cared for him too much.
Brendon hopped around in place a few times. “It really hurts!” he exclaimed dramatically.
“Really?” Ranita believed him and immediately became nervous as she leaned down to check his leg. Suddenly Brendon leaned forward and kissed her lips playfully before running away like a child would do after playing such games with their friends at recess time during school hours.
Ranita realized that he was just playing with her as usual; she chased after him shouting out his name, “Brendon, don’t run!”
The sea breeze still blew while laughter accompanied by the wind could be heard from afar. Julia who came over with files saw them chasing each other from afar; taking out her phone recorded the video clip then sent it over to Shannon’s phone.
Ranita laughed while grabbing onto Brendon’s shirt collar but before exerting any force upon it, Brendon bumped into her first then took advantage of this opportunity by embracing her tightly within his arms.
“Ranita, you bumped into me so hard.”
“You’re lying! You clearly ran into me yourself!” She couldn’t stop giggling because of all the running around which caused both exhaustion and red cheeks due to heavy breathing and excitement alike.
Suddenly Brendon held onto Ranita’s hand tightly.
“Hmm?” Startled at first by this sudden action taken by Brendon, she didn’t have time to speak before being pulled along towards an unknown destination.
The wind blew up their shirts causing them both feel alive inside.
Just then, Brendon’s phone rang loudly interrupting their blissful moment together.
“Julia? Did you deliver those files yet? Okay great I’ll meet up with you later tonight back at my hotel room.” Brendon said quickly hanging up afterwards.
He continued holding onto Rantia’s hand leading them away from the beach towards some kind of greenery path ahead.
Although it wasn’t sunset nor did they have any alcohol involved; walking alongside Brendon holding hands filled Rantia’s heart full of bubbles making everything feel perfect.
This was what happiness felt like .

Her eyes sparkled brightly reflecting pure joy within them.
“Did Julia arrive that fast ? The documents must’ve been important, why don’t we go back?”
“No need! We agreed upon eating dinner together, remember?” Brendon replied pulling Ranita further away from the beach until they reached some kind of park trail instead.
The sunshine was very bright, and it made Ranita’s heart feel warm too.
She saw a bike rental nearby and asked with squinted eyes, “Brendon, could we possibly go cycling?”
Ranita didn’t have high hopes, but Brendon actually agreed.
“Okay!” After a pause, Brendon asked again, “Can you ride a bike?”
“Of course I can! My brother taught me when I was younger,” Ranita exclaimed happily.
After speaking, she nervously looked at Brendon.
