Chapter 107 Unveiling Forbidden Desires
“When did this happen?”
Xander’s voice came through on the other end. “I just received the news, it should have been within the past two days.”
“We have to find her!” He said in a low voice.
“Yes.”
The call disconnected, Elijah slammed the phone down. It hit the table with a loud noise, indicating his current mood.
Freya inquired, “What happened? Why are you so angry?”This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
It was revealed that Liora Valentine had been rescued from inside, and the person who rescued her was her former wealthy boyfriend.
Elijah, locking eyes with her, concealed the true reason and replied, “Nothing.”
He couldn’t allow Liora Valentine the freedom she desired, especially after being rescued by the affluent man she had been involved with.
Freya, not prying further, assumed it was work-related frustration and continued with her meal.
After dinner, as Elijah prepared to leave, Deck arrived.
“Young Master, the old master wants to see you. Please come with me to the old mansion.”
Elijah said, “I see.”
He informed Freya, “Rest well at home, your leg isn’t fully healed yet.”
Freya nodded.
Following Elijah, Deck glanced back at Freya as they exited, his gaze carrying a meaningful intent. It seemed like Freya understood why Jack wanted to meet Elijah. Did Leo approach Jack? Was he asking Jack to convince Elijah to divorce her?
She felt a hint of nervousness, sitting on the sofa with a distracted look. What was she nervous about? If she could get a divorce, it was what she wanted, right? But thinking about Elijah’s kindness during this time, she couldn’t help but feel cold-hearted. She despised herself for having such thoughts, but deep down, she acknowledged her feelings for Elijah, the subtle emotions between a man and a woman.
Meanwhile, Elijah arrived at the old mansion where his grandfather was waiting.
“Have a seat,” Jack gestured as Elijah entered.
“Is there a reason you called me back?” Elijah asked directly.
Jack sighed, “Well, it’s my mistake. I thought Freya would be as loyal as her grandfather, but I was wrong. She’s not suitable.”
Elijah sensed trouble, “What do you mean, Grandfather?”
“This marriage was something you didn’t want from the beginning. Why not just end it?” Jack Silverton suggested.
He was growing displeased with Freya’s silence and disappearance for several months, especially after learning some unfavorable rumors about her past.
“She came to you, saying she wants a divorce?” Elijah’s expression remained cold.
Jack clarified, “No, it was Leo who came to me, begging for your divorce. I believe it might be Freya’s intention. Back then, he went to great lengths to marry her to you. Considering Leo’s character, he wouldn’t change his mind unless Freya was adamant about it. I suppose he had no choice but to seek my help in convincing you to divorce. You don’t like Freya anyway…”
“Grandfather,” Elijah interrupted, “Regardless of the reasons we got married, now that we are married, Freya is my wife. Even if she wants a divorce, I won’t agree.”
With that, Elijah stood up, heading for the door. Before leaving, he turned back without facing Jack directly, “Grandfather, I don’t want you involved in my affairs.”
Deck, following Elijah, asked, “Is the Young Master angry?”
Jack sighed, “Isn’t it obvious? Elijah’s attitude is clear.”
Deck speculated, “Is it because the Young Master has developed feelings for the Young Mistress?”
Jack realized, “It was my mistake not to understand Freya’s true nature before placing her with Elijah. To make them divorce won’t be easy.”
Deck pondered, “The Young Master’s temper is clear. If he doesn’t want something, it’s hard to make it happen.”
Jack added, “But he has vulnerabilities too.”
Deck, puzzled, inquired, “You mean…”
“He cares a lot about that thing. I remember when he was ten, it fell into the pond after he fell from the rockery. The little girl who lost her jade pendant saved him that day. We searched for her, both him and me, but with so many people coming to the house that day, it was impossible to find her.”
“We couldn’t find her then, and now, after so many years, it’s even more impossible, right?” Deck remarked.
Jack glanced at him. “Whether we find it or not isn’t important. What matters is to make Elijah believe.”
Deck remained puzzled.
“Why are you so dense?” Jack explained, “We just need to find a reliable girl, tell Elijah that she’s the one who saved him, isn’t that enough?”
“But will Young Master believe it easily?” Deck still had concerns.
“He was only ten years old at that time. Although he remembers the incident, how many details can he recall? Moreover, we’ll just tell the girl we find the approximate process. As long as she can roughly describe the situation at that time, Elijah will believe.”
Deck, being meticulous, expressed his concern. “If she suddenly appears, Young Master’s intelligence will definitely sense something amiss. Think about it, this girl hasn’t appeared earlier or later, but precisely at the crucial moment when you want him to divorce Freya. Isn’t that suspicious?”
Upon reflection, Jack agreed.
“So, what do you suggest?” he asked.
Deck proposed a solution, “It’s not a difficult matter. We arrange a girl you approve of and place her around Elijah. The girl casually reveals to Young Master that she has been to the Silverton family, saved a little boy, and so forth. This way, Young Master will naturally think it’s himself, and it won’t raise his suspicion.”
Jack gave Deck an approving look, finding the idea quite clever. However, the current concern was how to find a suitable girl.
“There are plenty of good girls; you can take your time to find one, sir,” Deck suggested.
Meanwhile, at a private room, Freya sat across from Orion, who was still grappling with Luna Ann’s betrayal, drowning his sorrows in alcohol.
“Women, all of you are liars, liars,” Orion hiccupped, getting up from the sofa unsteadily. His clothes were wrinkled, and he reeked of alcohol. He grabbed the bottle, took another swig, and when he tried to sit back down, missing the sofa, he collapsed on the floor.
He decided to half-lie against the sofa, continuing to drink and saying, “Freya, what kind of man do you think Luna ‘s current partner is?”
Freya pursed her lips, looking at him, and replied, “I don’t know.”
Luna didn’t have many men in her life; how could she possibly know?
She took a sip of her own drink.
“She has a child now,” Orion murmured, a hint of sadness overflowing in his eyes. “She betrayed me, married another man, and had a child. Have you seen Luna’s child? So small…”
He gestured with his hands, “He’s just a little one.”
In a hoarse voice, he continued, “If only the child were mine.”
Freya listened silently. Now, somehow, she felt like she could understand Orion’s pain. Just like her current situation, knowing that she might have to divorce Elijah, she unexpectedly felt a sense of loss.
Knowing it was wrong, she still stirred emotions she shouldn’t have. She downed the last glass of alcohol and said, “You’ve had enough to drink. You can’t have any more. I’ll take you home.”
“I’m not going back,” Orion waved his hand.
Freya couldn’t move him, so she called a driver to help get Orion into the car and sent him home.
After dropping off Orion, Freya returned to the villa. Feeling a bit dizzy from the alcohol, she thought of resting for a while upstairs but unknowingly fell asleep. She slept soundly, undisturbed even when the door creaked open. After an unknown period, she woke up in a daze. The outside was already dark, and the room was not lit, making it even dimmer inside.
She rubbed her eyes, about to get up, and noticed a dark figure by the bedside.
She tried to ask, “Elijah, is that you?”
But there was no response.
She reached out to touch…
Ah!
She was pressed down directly. Startled, she screamed. Her body sank deep into the mattress, and she was firmly pinned down.
