Chapter 19 Making Things Easy
Clarissa finally figured it out. Joseph Moore’s request to follow her on Instagram prior was not a
coincidence. He was not a scammer either. It was the rich man’s son that her brother had mentioned
before.
In fact, Joseph was a polite and talented person. Clarissa admired him.
Introducing him to her might have been her brother’s one-sided wish.
Clarissa smiled and said, “Asking you questions about economic law will be more convenient in the
future, Mr. Moore.”
“That’s right. In a few days, I’ll prepare some practice papers for you. Economic law is the easiest
paper. You can pass by simply memorizing everything. As long as you’re willing to put in the effort,
nothing will be a problem,” Joseph replied while adding remarks to Clarissa’s contact. Her name was
saved as “Bunny In A Flower” in his contacts.
“Clarissa, we haven’t celebrated your success in landing a permanent position at New East
Corporation! I heard their standards were very high. My sister is truly outstanding.”
Luke seized this opportunity to praise Clarissa. He was very scheming. Basically, he was trying to leave
a good impression on Joseph so that he could “sell” her for a good price in the future.
“That’s right.”
Clarissa did not want to talk to him. After answering, she turned her head toward the window.
Joseph did not continue the conversation either, making Luke feel awkward.
When they arrived at the dormitory, Clarissa got out of the car. As she walked, she looked at her
phone. The people around her behaved like mice that had seen a cat. They quickly avoided her. Maybe
they had acknowledged Clarissa as Damien’s woman. It was possible that she would become their
boss’s future wife. Hence, no one dared to offend her.
Before opening the door to her unit, she received a message from Damien.
[ We’re going to my grandpa’s house at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. I’ll pick you up from your dorm. ]
Clarissa’s heart thumped. She did not expect to be able to see Damien again so quickly.
Once she turned off her phone, she started packing her luggage.
“Clarissa, are you dating President Lawrence?” Lily suddenly approached Clarissa from the side. She
lowered her voice and winked, trying to start gossiping.
Clarissa hesitated for a moment.
“No, I’m not.”
However, since Lily was her best friend, she gave a truthful answer,
“We just… Had sex before.”
“Tsk…” Lily sucked in her breath. “I couldn’t tell at all. You’re so ruthless! You took him down right
away.”
“No. It was completely unexpected.”
It was unexpected for Clarissa, but Damien thought she had done it intentionally.
“What’s the relationship between you two now?”
“Just… Like that. By the way, I won’t be around tomorrow night. I’m heading out.”
“To where? Are you going to spend the night with President Lawrence?”
“No… There are other things…”
“Tsk, you said you weren’t in a relationship with him.”
“I’m really not.”
Clarissa thought about it. She felt they had not met for a long time.
Damien had saved her from being the center of attention before. Despite that, she did not think they
were dating. A couple would have countless things to talk about. That was not the case for them.
Whenever they were together, there was only silence.
“Alright, stop being shy. I know the company doesn’t allow office romance. Don’t worry. I’ll keep it a
secret. Just promote me to director in the public relations department when you become the president’s
wife.”
Lily’s wish was quite extreme.
“…”
The next day, Clarissa got into Damien’s car with her luggage.
His car stopped at the entrance of her dormitory. People who were entering and exiting could see them.
Clarissa could not keep this a secret even if she wanted.
Damien only gave her a glance when she got into the car. Shortly after, they departed.
“President Lawrence, why did you pick me up from the dorms? Now the whole company knows,” said
Clarissa. Based on the agreement, they had to keep their relationship confidential.
Damien replied, “They know already, right? It’s fine. This is better than having more rumors spread. We
don’t have to sneak around anymore. If your boyfriend finds out in the future, I’ll compensate him.”
Clarissa grabbed her sleeves. She hated how he involved money in everything. On the other hand,
Damien did not seem to mind.
“What if he doesn’t want the compensation?” Since she was unhappy, her tone was slightly rough.
Damien laughed mockingly. “He doesn’t want money?”
Clarissa lowered her head. She did not utter a single word. After all, she did not have the right to say
anything. The reason she got married to Damien was because of money. If she was like that, then her
boyfriend’s mindset must not be far off either. In other words, both of them only cared about money.
There was no way for Clarissa to retaliate against Damien’s mockery. Moreover, he had already found
out about the post on the forum. He purposely drove his Mercedes-Benz on the day of the health
check. It was all done to make her colleagues shut their mouths.
Damien was a ruthless person.
Seeing that Clarissa did not speak, Damien ordered, “Request for leave from Howard. We’ll return on
Monday.”
“Request for leave?” Clarissa’s scalp tingled once she heard those words. Howard would probably
gaze at her strangely again.
“Yes. Why? Is it difficult?” Damien turned his head and squinted his eyes. “If it is, I can help.”
Damien’s voice was clearly sarcastic.
“No. There’s no need for that. Thank you, President Lawrence.”
Clarissa quickly took out her phone and sent Howard a message.
[ Director Brooks, I have some urgent matters tomorrow. So, I would like to request a day’s leave. ]
Clarissa typed nervously. Howard had an awful expression on his face when she took a leave last time.
Mondays were busy. Yet, she was taking that day off. It appeared as if she was escaping from her
responsibilities.
[ Howard: Sure. I‘ll get someone to fill in. If you have further questions, you can ask me directly once
you’ve returned. ] Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
Howard’s reply was completely different in comparison to the past. Clarissa almost got goosebumps. It
seemed like Howard knew about her relationship with Damien too.
Clarissa made Damien’s grandfather very happy during that visit. The latter’s face was glowing. He did
not look like a person with lung cancer at all. Soon, it was nighttime and Clarissa went to take a bath.
She placed her phone on the bed.
It buzzed once.
Damien was reading his book at the side. He did not mind it.
However, it kept buzzing continuously.
Damien turned his head and looked at her phone in an annoyed manner. There were fifteen messages
from Joseph.
Damien’s brows knitted into a slight frown.
Just then, Clarissa came out of the bathroom while drying her hair.
Damien asked, “Did you meet your boyfriend yesterday?”
“Boyfriend? No.”
If Clarissa knew their contract would last so long, she would not have lied about having a boyfriend. It
was hard to maintain the lie.
Clarissa was considering telling Damien the truth.
When she got onto the bed, Damien pressed her down.
